The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

And I'm not much of a Knight, but here I am.

[He blinks at that, shaking his head slightly.]

What makes you say that?

[hacker]

I— [ She balks, apparently not expecting to be called on her self-deprecating remark. ] I don't know. It was just a joke, Clark. Geez.

[clarkfuckingkent]

[He gives a little shrug with one shoulder.]

For what it's worth, I think you've got what it takes.

[hacker]

[ She softens, then nods. ]

It's worth a lot.

[clarkfuckingkent]

[He gives her a small smile, taking a small step forward and holding out his hand.]

Alright. One dance.

[hacker]

[ She grins as he relents, takes a moment to really believe him, then reaches out to swipe his hand and pull him towards the dance floor. With a dance of 17, she's doing pretty well for herself out there. ]

[He's actually really good at this- thanks super agility! With a check of 23, he leads them in the dance without any problems.]

You seem to like it here. Or at least- you're having an easier time making friends than I am.

Well, to be fair, I haven't shown up uninvited in anyone's bedroom yet.

[He ducks his head and laughs.]

Surprisingly, no one slapped me for it.

[hacker]

Helps that you've got the whole dopey innocent smile going for you. [ She points to him generously. ]

[Stop making him blush, Skye. That's unfair.]

At least there's that. I can't help but feel like it won't get me out of every tight spot.

Something tells me if you stick around here, you'll be putting that to the test.

The knights wind up in a lot of tight spots. They could use that smile of yours.

You know, I'm more than just a pretty face. [Her compliments and teasing do have a way of making him lighten up at least.]

We'll see.

[ But as she spins out, she cants her head to acknowledge. ]

At the very least, you're a passable dancer.

[He pulls her back towards him, lifting her easily (str 23) and spinning in a slow circle before he sets her back down.]

How's that for passable?

[ Surprised, she tenses, her hands immediately reaching for his shoulders to brace herself. But she loosens up a moment later, that combative reaction quieted as she realizes what he's doing. An airy laugh escapes her throat, and she leans in while he sets her down, enjoying the levity. ]

Didn't take you for a show-off.

[clarkfuckingkent]

I'm not usually. But sometimes it seems worth it. [He grins down at her, going back to their mediocre sway of a dance.]

[hacker]

Glad I earned myself a showing. [ She tilts her head, thoughtful and wry and flirtatious all at once. ]

[clarkfuckingkent]

Just don't expect it all the time. [He adds with a little laugh] I'd hate to disappoint.

[hacker]

No offense, but if this is your opener, you're setting yourself up for failure.

[clarkfuckingkent]

I'm not exactly used to things like this, so I'm not that surprised. My first week, I probably walked into half a dozen rooms on accident that definitely weren't mine.

[She knows, Clark. She gave you the damn map on your phone.]

[hacker]

I remember. [ She nods. ] Which you've stopped, I hope.
