The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Clint was feeling pretty damn good after his not-a-disaster squiring ceremony, and, having made the time to purchase a semi-decent suit before the ceremony (disguise 14), the damn good feelings are still going strong. He's looking around the room with a grin on his face, trying to pick out the familiar faces from the crowd and so far failing (spot 5). He hasn't seen the refreshments either, what an observant chap. He's walking around the ballroom, looking for a friend, a drink, a seat, or any combination of the above.]

[He might not be spotting much, but she is (spot 18). She spots him easily, and walks over to him with an extra drink in her hand. Yes, her hair is red again.]

Well, I'm proud you haven't fallen on your ass yet. [She says with a smile, obviously teasing ... mooostly. She offers him the extra drink, holding the glass out to him. As she does so, she takes a sip from her own drink.] Also, congrats. [On the squiring, not the fact that he hasn't fallen on his ass yet. Though it works for both tbh.]

[He gladly takes the drink and immediately downs half of it, then smiles.] Really, Nat? Vodka already? Give the party some time to wind up at least, eh? [His teasing, shit eating grin is out in full force, he knows that she expected him to crash and burn tonight.]

This is how Russians start a party. [where is the lie?] And continue one. And end one. [basically it's all they need for a party.] Having fun tonight?

[He gives her The Look(TM), pictured above, before smiling and shaking his head in not-surprised disbelief.] Yeah, it's great so far, Nat. The music is good, the people classy, and the drinks [He shakes his glass for emphasis.] free. Pretty good night if you ask me.

Good. [She replies with a smile, glad to hear he's enjoying it as much as he should be. She sets her glass down on a nearby table then motions her head towards where people are dancing, reaching a hand out towards him.] Come on, this is me dragging you out to dance.

[David is looking fairly average this evening (disguise 13), but he pretty much always looks about average, so that's nothing new. He's hanging out by the food when Clint wanders over, and is quick to say something when he sees him steering towards one of the more creative culinary options.]

I wouldn't try that one unless you like "interesting."

[Clint looks down at what is apparently shrimp covered in fondant.] Yeah, "interesting," got it. [He turns to his gustatory savior with a smile and an offered handshake.] Thanks for the heads up. The name's Clint Barton, archer-guy and Squire extraordinaire. [He throws in a little jazz hands to emphasize the amazingness of it.]

[He smirks slightly, before holding out his hand to shake Clint's.]

[Clint nods.] Ah, a full blown Knight then. Dragon's Hide, those are the fighters, right? What do you bring to the table when the fondant hits the fan? [He glances at the table again, but quickly looks away in disgust.]

[And no, he's not kidding. But yeah, that's pretty much what he brings to the table.]

[Erica (disguise 19) has shown up tonight in clothes which are comfortable for her: short skirt, shirt that has a lower cut to it, and heeled boots that come up just around her ankles.

It's a rare moment when she's sitting down on a chair, taking a break from walking around the party, and she's got her feet propped up on the other chair beside her, ankles crossed and shoes still on as she watches people mingle. The seat isn't taken by anyone, so if it's a seat he's looking for and he asks if it's a taken seat, she'll remove her feet from it. She doesn't bite. Well, no, she actually does bite because she's a werewolf, but she won't be biting anyone tonight. How's that?]

[He thanks her and sits down, balancing a plate full of food in each hand. (dex 13)]
I finally found the good eats, then realized I had nowhere to set it down. You're my hero for the night, so, feel free to take whatever you like. [He pops a cheese cube into his mouth and savors the colby-jack flavor.]

Good, because I was probably gonna eat some anyway. [She says it with a hint of teasing, but she's serious.] A growing werewolf has to eat. [No she doesn't give a flying fuck about being ~sensitive~ to people who may never have encountered her species before. They're gonna meet weirder shit than werewolves. She takes a large handful of those cheese cubes.]

Erica Reyes. [She introduces herself while chewing three cheese cubes because she is classy.]

[Barton only had so many fucks to give when he came through the veil, and he is quickly running out. With the amount of shit he's seen over the last few months, nothing really surprises him anymore. Werewolf? Ok, yeah sure, whatever, they probably shoot lasers out their ass for all he knows. Externally, though, all he does is raise an eyebrow and hold out the plate to her as she grabs the cheese.]

A pleasure to meet you, then. I'm Clint Barton. You a Knight, or a partygoer?

Yep, a squire -- just not a recent one. [pops another cheese cube in her mouth.] Though I'm a fan of debauchery as well. [That's ... sort of a reference he won't get. She told someone once that these parties are full of shenanigans and debauchery because she is a little shit tbh.]

[ One of the other new squires, who managed to find a sharp suit (dis 22) that didn't clash with the raven feathers he had been wearing in his hair the whole time during the ceremony and now, almost bumped into Clint. He managed to turn just in time, and not drop his drink. (Dex 19) ]

[Clint was caught off guard by the near collision, but managed to avoid any significant disasters (reflex 6+7=13). He turns to the sharply dressed man.]
Whoa! Hey, no worries.
[Clint recognizes his fellow squire from the squiring, and offers his hand. (int 14)] You were at the ceremony too, right? Glad to meet ya, my name's Clint Barton. Or, Hawkeye, if you're the business type.

Thank you. [ He replied relived in his almost Norwegian accent. Shifting his drink to the other hand, he reaches out to shake in return.]

Yes, Its a pleasure, Clint. Is it okay to call you Clint? I'm Deryn Argall, but just Deryn is preferable.

Pleased as, well, punch. [Clint gestures to the nearly-dropped drink, then to the feathers.] You uh, you got something in your hair.

[ He actually got Deryn to laugh with the punch line.]

I know, there are a lot of things in my hair. It's on purpose, I did it. [ He reached back, up under his hair and with a twist of his wrist he pulled free one of the feathers, with the little black butterfly clip still on the end.] Raven's feathers.

[Sara isn't particularly dressed up tonight, but she's wearing what she's a million percent comfortable in so that's what counts. ]

Look at you standing around all hawkward-like.

[While there's not really a smile on her lips as she speaks, it's showing more in her eyes.

One: No the bird puns really aren't going anywhere. Two: Yes she knows that one was terrible. Three: No she doesn't care. Four: Yes she's hoping for a canary pun right back at her. Five: Oh god who let these two meet?]

[He's smiling big, with a twinkle in his eyes, he has accepted the challenge and raised the bar.]
