The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Topher shows up literally in jeans and probably a tacky sweatervest, because what is being fancy (disguise 5). He didn't try at all, basically. Contrary to the nerdy wallflower stereotype, Topher is just thrilled to death to be working with an organization that probably isn't secretly evil.

He hopes, anyway.

Which is why he's hovering around the snacks, blabbering on to anyone who will listen and not caring if anyone listens at all, because he's a small dog sometimes.] I mean I don't normally get behind all that swearing in skull-and-bones weirdness, but it feels comforting almost... [He pauses as he eats, considering something.] Also the armor was just really cool.

[Malina is looking flawless (disguise 20 total) as she makes her way over, possibly to the point where it might be a little intimidating. It's not that she has anything against Topher (yet), she does know that he's from Pegasus.

Kali seems to think that he's a fragile, delicate baby bird that needs to be protected, but given that Malina distrusts anything Pegasus that isn't one of their moreaus, she wants to get a better gauge on this for herself.

It gets cooler, trust me. [Andrew pipes up from behind Topher. Hi, have a 6'4 curly haired Irishman in a suit popping up behind you. He got a 15 on his disguise check so he came dressed to impress, but he just doesn't pull it off like most people here.]

[astrid sliiiides on over to topher, champagne glass in hand. it's like looking at gunther all grown up. she misses gunther. damn it.] It's weird, but then you kind of get used to it. The secret society thing, not the armor thing.

[So after Thea had gotten sick of Cora's lack of adhering to the dress code when it comes to the squiring parties, she took matters into her own hands and dressed Cora herself (disguise 19).

Cora isn't exactly particularly comfortable in this manner of dress, or in the heels that come with it, but she is both staying on her feet (balance 18) and managing not to fidget (will save 22). She does, however, feel completely ridiculous and not really seeking people out to talk to unless she already knows them.

But a deal's a deal and she will be sticking it out for the entirety of the party. Feel free to come over and say hi.]

[ although ella has skipped most of the recent squiring parties because there is only so much of wynn's old fart music she can deal with, finn convinced her to swing by this one. it doesn't mean she put that much effort into her appearance though (disguise 14), sweeping her long ginger curls back into a low bun and donning a simple, pale yellow dress and purple flip flops because fuck it.

she's still as pale as always, that freckly irish skin doesn't like the sun no matter how much time she spends in it and it's only a faint sweep of blush that brings color to her cheeks, but her green eyes forever sparkle.

almost all of the time she can be found om nom nomming on teeny shepherd's pie because she's like a walking stereotype for irish people. just look at her, all ginger and freckles and potatoes. she also has a friendly, and tiny, viper twisted around her arm, head resting on her shoulder. her new familiar, ironically named saint patrick. he doesn't bite! well, he might, actually, but i'm sure it's fine. ]

[Malina (disguise 18) is pretty much a squiring party regular, but she's noticed Ella's absence as of late. Which is why when she picks her out of the crowd, she can't help but make her way closer with a smile.]

[ while it's not number one on her to do list, this is the first squiring party since she's been back, so winter makes a point to stop by. she doesn't go out of her way to dress up, but she does look beautiful even in her simple outfit (disguise 18, 20 vs males).

but for the moment, she's busy mixing up a fanciful drink at the bar. butterbeer, she's making butterbeer. ]

[Kate is leaning towards something a little more low key this month, not looking to stand out (disguise 14). Or at least, as much as you can stand out in a sea of formal wear. She's making her way over to get a drink for herself when she can't help but look at what Winter is making and her curiosity is getting the better of her.]

[Clint was feeling pretty damn good after his not-a-disaster squiring ceremony, and, having made the time to purchase a semi-decent suit before the ceremony (disguise 14), the damn good feelings are still going strong. He's looking around the room with a grin on his face, trying to pick out the familiar faces from the crowd and so far failing (spot 5). He hasn't seen the refreshments either, what an observant chap. He's walking around the ballroom, looking for a friend, a drink, a seat, or any combination of the above.]

[He might not be spotting much, but she is (spot 18). She spots him easily, and walks over to him with an extra drink in her hand. Yes, her hair is red again.]

Well, I'm proud you haven't fallen on your ass yet. [She says with a smile, obviously teasing ... mooostly. She offers him the extra drink, holding the glass out to him. As she does so, she takes a sip from her own drink.] Also, congrats. [On the squiring, not the fact that he hasn't fallen on his ass yet. Though it works for both tbh.]

[Natasha (disguise 16) is here, and her hair is back to its natural red. Except instead of a folder in her hands, there's a package of bandages peeking out of her jacket pocket, and a drink in her hand.

Natasha doesn't spend much time by the wall, approaching any familiar and new faces with a small smile -- a greeting of 'hi' for the familiar faces and an introduction to the new faces.]

[ Upon seeing the redhead approch, Deryn (dis 22) held a hand out to shake. As its one of those things firmly planted in his mind since arrival through the vail to do on greetings.]

[ Deryn felt out of sorts being all dolled up. (Dis; 22) His feathers sticking every which way, stuck in place with little black butterfly clips, and bobby pins, bit's of his black hair style around them to try and hide the clips and pins. He looked around, trying to stay out of everyone's way and out of the spotlight. ]

[Wanda (dis 13) has kept her look pretty simple for tonight.]

I like the feathers, very nice. [She offers him a smile as well; it's a genuine compliment. They'd caught her eye.

She quickly pops the last bit of the cracker and cheese she'd been snacking on into her mouth, finishing it up.]

[So it's pretty much the first one of these things that Sawyer has attended, aside from her own and now that she's settling into all things Castle Life, she put in a bit of effort when she got ready tonight. (Disguise 19).

She's pretty approachable all night and if you don't engage her in conversation, she's just as likely to make small talk to whoever happens to be standing nearby on their own. While most of the night will be spent flying solo, don't be all that shocked if you catch sight of a Ferret who is notoriously bad at staying in his room, somewhere near where Sawyer happens to be.]

[Anyone who comes to the squiring after-parties on the regular, would be so very used to seeing this one in attendance. It's like a rule that if there's booze and food and fancy dress then Kenzi has to be in the thick of things. (Looking pretty fly if she do say so herself: Disguise: 32/38 for the dudes.)

She will always be seen with a drink in one hand, a spare in the other and if neither are in play then... she's at the bar. Word of the wise to those who wallflower? Kenzi sees this as an open invitation to torture make herself known to you.]

[Natasha, who has coloured her hair back to its natural red (so it's a 'new' look since the last time she saw Kenzi) is going back to mingling around after dragging her best friend from home out on the dance floor for a bit. When Natasha spots Kenzi, she walks over to her with a friendly smile. Kenzi's already on Natasha's list of One The Most Awesome People Here, ok.]

Privet. [One of the ways to say 'hello' in Russian. Was Kenzi expecting an English greeting? And of course Kenzi has a drink in one hand and a spare in the other, ready to go. Natasha's carrying a full glass herself.]

[Making the 22 Disguise Check her own, Avaleen is the special snowflake of the room that doesn't actually come to these things out of obligation or for the food or alcohol. She is to social gatherings that include the chance to dance, like a moth is to a flame. Friendly with strangers to the point of, what is personal space or physical boundaries, Avaleen will be floating in and out, introducing herself to new people or pulling those she does know out to Dance with her. (Dance. 20 Total)]

[ HELL YEAH NEW SQUIRE. one she will probably not ruin. (unsure) in any case, vi is here to support her baby tree, with her own tiny baby dressed like tinkerbell, tbh. the green is very complementary to her soft creamsicle orange skin tone.

vi is happily bouncing around the room with lucia and somehow perfectly understanding groot like a bamf. don't ask how, it's magical nature stuff. feel free to be jelly. ]

[ this evening lila is looking flawless even though the pink streaks in her short pale hair have finally faded. there are still tiny hints of it hidden in the silverly gold curls, but her last grasp at teenage rebellion seems to have ended for now. currently lila, a staple at most squiring parties, is busy drinking her violently pink drink, as per usual, and taking in the new squires, studying them like she's trying to figure out if they're worth the effort.

are they? we just don't know. wynn seems to think so.

there's a distinct possibility she spends most of the evening fucking around with faye or alex, as they do, but she's not one to shove away a new face. at least not at first. she even looks approachable with her easy smile and her scar hidden beneath the loose collar of her shirt. ]
