after-party ♔ september

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || September 1st, 2015, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

[Putting Mark back in the throne had been the right thing to do, and he seems to be doing well with it so far. Unfortunately she bombed her wisdom check to see if she would figure out how he's curing mental illnesses (wisdom 5).]
How do you cure mental illnesses?
[Those tend to be more of a maintenance thing, aren't they?]

[Hack. Hahaha. Get it. 'Cause he's a brain hacker. ahaha. okay we have fun.]

Interesting. I guess. I'm not really a science person.

Magic person. I'm in the Dragon's Fire.

You got a problem with magic users?

So if science can't explain it, it doesn't really fit in your world view?
[She shrugs.]
I don't really know for sure. I just know that it's something I can do - something I could always do. It runs in my blood. There has to be some science in that.

I just wanna crack the code.

[She was raised by a religious mother and her mentor was Joan of Arc. Malina has a very strong opinion on the power of faith, and it's ability to be a real thing.]

[he shrugs helplessly.] Putting that much faith in something like that seems like a huge gamble to me.

You put that much faith in science. It helps you see the world in a way that makes sense, and gives you something to aspire to in the place of staying as you are. Instead of being content with the world as it is, you want to use the power of your faith and love of science to change it for the better.
[She shrugs.]
It's the same for clerics and paladins. It may not be as tangible as your faith, but it gives them the power to believe that through their faith, they have the tools to make the world a better place, through the ability to heal someone in need or destroy something evil. Their faith gives them power and through that power, they make the world better.

It's just that science isn't going to abandon me to my own devices when some mystical curtain just closes one day.

You never know. Maybe the next time the Veil closes it sets off some kind of chain reaction and everything you know about science gets completely turned on it's head.
[Her head tips to the side.]
You'll have to start back at square one, figuring things out all over again.
[there's also more to faith than that - if you lose your faith when things get rough then Malina's of the opinion that your faith wasn't all that real to begin with.]

Aren't atoms and all that all about magnetic fields? What if when the Veil closes the next time it screws with those fields somehow and all the machines go ka-boom?
[It's not, that far fetched, at least with her limited science experience (knowledge science 18).]

I'm going to hold you to that. I love a good musical number.

[never mind that fran kranz as a bard has happened.]

I can see it already. I think it'd be a good look for you.

We'll see. I think Future Me will probably be more impressed if you actually follow through.
