The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[so affronted] This is... how I typically dress. [He glances down, realizes his shirt is untucked and fixes that, awkwardly.] I didn't realize this was gonna be a fancy clothes thing.

Everything about this place is fancy, Topher. [ she reaches out to pat his arm like there there my precious baby bird. ] Do you have any candy?

Yeah, I... should've figured that when I realized it was a castle. [he swallows and digs in his pocket for a bag of slightly smushed gummy bears.] I thought maybe the food would be, like... mutton and turkey legs or something.

[he was actually wrong about that one.]

[ yaaaaaaas success. she grabs the candy almost before it's out of his pocket. he's the reason for her candy addiction, he shouldn't be surprised. ]

There are very tiny Shepherd's pies if you want something meaty. [ meanwhile she's going to be decapitating some bears with her teeth. om nom. ]

Pretty sure I just want potato chips. [a beat, while he watches her mangle all the gummy bears] Crisps. They're called crisps here... Chips are fries.

[he makes a face.] I'm not gonna get used to everything being so British.

[felidity]

But if you make a mistake and say chips you still get fries, which is amazing. [ SAGE NOD. and then abruptly: ] Topher, I need to ask you something. It's very serious.

[andblockbuster]

[it's hard to be serious when you've just stuffed something from the food table into your mouth, but he nods anyway, before swallowing.] Yeah?

Are we friends?

[ VERY FUCKING SERIOUS. ]

[he takes a second, because he feels swallowing before he answers that question would probably be polite. it's an easy answer though- if they weren't, he'd still be working for Pegasus. that was his whole trouble- he made friends with the people who were supposed to just be- as adelle told him once- his playthings.]

...Yeah. Yeah, 'course we are. Was that... was that up for debate?

Yes? I don't know. Real people are hard, I don't know how they work.

It's okay, I don't know how they work either, except in a... Very technical sense.

[he runs a hand over his face and then gestures between the two of them.] But see? That's a good reason why we're friends. We can not get people together.

Okay. [ she really just wanted to hear that topher is her friend so she can actually tell people, without doubt, that he is her friend. ]
