The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[It's not! But she's stubborn and she's worried that Thea probably won't let her.]

I told Thea I'd stick out the night. I'll talk to her next month about something flatter.

You'd risk a broken ankle to prove a point? More power to you, starshine.

[She shrugs before looking down at them.]

I'll heal.

[Then a beat as she looks back up again.]

Do people really break ankles in these things?

Oh yeah, they can cause irreparable damage to your joints and tendons, they can cause nerve damage and sciatica. They're horrible. [ and lila loves them. ]

[Cora just squints for a moment. She'll heal, she's not worried, but Lila ... ]

And people wear them why?

Because they make me taller, make my legs look longer, and make my ass look alarmingly good. [ duh. ]

[She can sympathize with wanting to be taller. She just wouldn't want to hurt herself to prove it.]

I guess it's one of those things where beauty is worth the pain?

I'm used to them, so they don't hurt anymore. It's like torture, the longer it lasts the easier it is to stand.

Right.

[She shakes her head.]

I don't think I want to get used to it.

[bittersweeter]

It's not for everyone, I guess.

[She shrugs.]

I don't mind being short.

[That's a lie, she's like a chihuahua.]

I'm still short. [ even with four inch heels on. ] I need all the height I can get.
