[ Gold's been gone now for long enough to leave most people assuming that he isn't going to come back. Driven off by confirmation that he was, in fact, the Dark One from the Enchanted Forest by Gaston and Emma, the only indication that he's even alive came in a dream delivered to Belle, where he admitted that he was looking to understand more about this Dark One, perhaps seeking a way to refute the claims of the others. Plenty of people are worried, however, about what direction his search might take him. Others, however, are just plain pissed that he would abandon them without a word - and it's that anger that drove Faye to ally with GLADOS to discover that he was in Glastonbury, and with Lila's help enlist Zero to pinpoint his exact last known whereabouts, at a shitty motel. Together, the girls take a car and head out, hoping to find him once and for all.

There's only one car in the lot when they pull in, the VACANCY sign flashing forlornly above the office door. No lights are visible in any of the rooms, but a COKE machine provides some illumination, along with the lone pair of streetlamps that dully lighten the parking lot. ]

[Faye doesn't budge to be honest. She's not about to stand back and risk losing him after all of this. She already lost Emma.]

[Says Faye who is def the lowest level person here but what she lacks in xp, she makes up in being stubborn as fuck.]

[ lila doesn't move either, but if gold wants to be in the line of fire, whatever, that's his death wish. she's already drawn her gun. ]

[or all that. that could happen. gold gives both girls a look before he begins moving back the direction they came. HE NEVER SAID HE WAS GONNA STAND AND WAIT THERE OKAY. just... that he might have to set so many thing on fire.]

[ yeah as soon as gold begins walking that way, there's a disturbing sound as if the trees are groaning around them... and they begin to bend across the path until they've created a barrier, the branches intertwining like fingers.

darkness begins to spread out from the well, until the entire clearing is cloaked in it - magical darkness that not even darkvision can pierce. ]

[ this is what you get for running away like a coward, gold. geez, she literally just gave a speech about how you're supposed to face your gd problems and he walked away. sigh. ]

A light spell would be handy right now. [ she's 100% sure her flashlight won't work on that creeping darkness. (spellcraft 37) or dispel magic, but she's going to wait to see if a. gold casts that first or b. either he or faye has an appropriate light spell. maybe she'll start carrying a daylight oil around with her, the number of times she's wound up in dark, dank places. ]

[ that is... exactly enough x( which is a little freaky, since that should have been powerful enough magic to dispel it no problem. as the darkness fades, they'd see a creature hovering over the well. cloaked by ragged wings of darkness, the horrific, skeletal thing appears to burn from within, and has two sets of white slitted eyes, black horns, and a mouth full of hideous fangs. they hear whispers in their mind again, that they would realize are... the closest thing it has to speech.

telling the girls it'd be a great idea to throw gold down the well and feed him to the darkness before he can cause any more problems. and telling gold that he can't leave these girls alive, that they'll never understand. you know, great things like that. one last will save plz. ]

[ lila can feel something pressing at her mind, but she probably shakes it off. (will save 38) her eyes flicker briefly to faye -- she doesn't want to knock her best friend out to cancel out whatever this creature is trying to achieve, but she will if she has to -- before sliding to gold, fingers tightening around her gun, jaw clenching. ]

Anyway, he got a 24, but whether he's considering it or not is really covered up by the peculiar look he's giving the fucking thing.]

[The very idea of tossing Gold into that well is the exact fucking opposite thing that she came here to do, which is probably why her stubbornness doubles down once those whispers reach her mind (will 27). She's got exactly zero time for this shit, so she's going to hurl a fireball at this thing, but idk if she can get that off before init happens. If so, it's 28 damage reflex 18 for half.]

[ it easily hovers upwards out of the range of most of the blast (reflex 29), and abruptly all around them rise up two more identical creatures, so that they're surrounded.

at the same time, the creature raises a hand and casts a black ray at her (ranged touch 24) that leaves her exhausted. ]

Shit, Faye! [ lila draws her second excalibur, raising them both at the original monster, firing off series of quick shots. (rapid shot atk 24, 17, 21, nat 20 (30 total); dmg 6 (+9 chaotic), 9 (+10), 5 (+11), 40 (+7)) all whilst yelling: ] Cold iron! Tell me you have something with cold iron. They're fey!

[Faye stumbles, the wave of exhaustion hitting her all at once. Lila's words cut through, but she can only shake her head and mumble.]

No cold iron.

[But she does have magic missile, so she'll send all 4 of those at the original guy for 16 total damage (3+5+4+4 if you need the breakdown)]

[Gold's voice is surprisingly calm, given the situation. Eerily calm, in fact. He lifts a hand and proceeds to cast trail of fire and acid.... On Lila. (1 fire damage, 2 acid damage- fort save 17 for half damage) The effect will last twelve rounds.

[ only the critical hit seems to break through its hide, but it at least burrows a big hole through it. faye's magic missiles seem to batter it as well.

it raises one hand and shimmering beams of light explode from its hand: one is yellow and hits lila for 80 electricity dmg (reflex 24 for half) and a red beam that does 20 fire dmg (reflex 24 for half).

the shadowy figures move to claw at the girls. the left heads for faye but crit fails and has to duck backwards from getting hit by one of those beams, losing its turn. the other goes for lila (atk 25 & 22, dmg 16 & 14) ]

[ lila shrieks in pain when gold strikes her and the flames and acid race across her skin (fort save 24), pain which only continues to grow when the first fey attacks, even with her quick reflexes saving her from the full extent of the damage (reflex save 30 & 28, fort save 17 vs massive damage). reflexes which save her from the second fey's second attack, as well. dropping one of the guns, she reaches for gold, and though she is in monumental pain from the overwhelming burns across her body, her fingers curl against his throat to work his trash ass to sleep so he can't inflict the same pain on faye. (atk 20 total, will save dc 30) ]

NO! [Faye screams as Lila is hit, not sure why Gold attacked her, but assuming it has something to do with this manipulative asshole. She's not going to stop Lila from going after Gold, though. At the end of the day, her girl is her top concern.

All she has is magic. I mean she has a gun but Lila's shots weren't all striking and Faye knows she's not nearly as good of a shot, so more magic is her best bet. She's still focusing on the first guy hoping that if they get rid of him, the others will just disappear.

Probably not but god she has to hope.

So scorching ray is happening! 2 rays! ranged touch attacks of 22 and a nat 20! 23 total. 17 damage for the first one and 30 damage for the crit]

[Apparently, paranoia and power make Gold's will saves better, because he rolled a 32 like an asshole. He jerks away from Lila's touch, snarling, as his spell from before sears her with acid and fire again (4 fire damage, 3 acid damage, 17 fort for half). At least it has one effect- it singles her out and keeps him away from Faye.

On the plus side, he doesn't directly attack her, and, instead, casts a fire shield on himself to dissuade her from touching him again, which gives him the impression of being wreathed in violet-red flames.]

[ both of faye's rays burn into the thing, blasting it with powerful magic that seems to tear away parts of it. but it's still up and fighting and it focuses its magic on faye in retaliation. she feels a darkness descending all around her... feels something literally trying to snuff the life out of her, and it's only a supreme act of fortitude that pushes away the force attempting to shut down her body (nat 20 fort vs circle of death).

but those shadows are still up and they come up behind the girls to attack them (one at faye: atk 18, dmg 12/ one at lila: atk 21, dmg 10) ]

[ a scream pulls past her lips as the flames and acid continue to slowly kill her. (fort save 22) instead of shooting him in the face like she wants to do, lila casts an invisibility spell on herself, using the rest of her dwindling energy to move toward faye. her words are still obviously meant for gold, however. ]

They're killing Faye. Faye. If you care about her even a little bit, you fucking snap out of this right now and save her. [ she pours every bit of her love for faye into the words, hoping against all practicality that it can break him out of this somehow. every note is tinged with desperation and despair, voice breaking. (diplomacy nat 20, 76 total) ] You have to help her. Please. If you want to prove you can be the good man she believes you can be then save her! Fight back!

[That hit really hurts. Like one third of her HP hurts. Lila's worse off by far, but this is not going to be fun for any of them if they have to keep going like this. Faye launches out two more scorching rays since that worked out so well last time. (ranged touch attacks 16 and 15?? If those hit, 12 and 17 damage.

She only barely registers Lila's pleas to Gold, can't focus on too much other than trying to kill this asshole fey bitch before it has the chance to hurt Lila again.]

[the flames reflect coldly in Gold's eyes for a moment as he tries to search out Lila, though once they fall on poor Faye, the severity of the words slowly pull him out of the chokehold this darkness has over him, and for a moment he looks utterly horrified. (will save 27)]

Faye.

[He swallows, his voice not quite sounding like his own, caught in the whirlwind of the whispering voices in his head that are starting to sound less like the fey creatures and more like something strange and familiar, but too far out of reach to cling to. An ethereal chorus, calling him back into the shadows.

He steps forward in front of the girls, dismissing the spell over Lila as he passes, and stares down the beasts with cold eyes, the violet flames still licking harmlessly over his body.]

You should know I'm not going to enjoy this. [It's directed at the fey creature leering at them, as he raises his hand again and

well faye and lila weren't on Andres when Gold unleashed that horrifying column of white flame, so this is probably gonna be a surprise for them. He focuses the burst at the primary creature and it explodes in a ten foot radius, likely hitting all three in the blast... and probably the well too. and the trees. it's just... it's not very pretty. everything in the blast takes 45 damage (reflex 20 dc to halve it)]

[ after the storm - mumford & sons

the creature twists and avoids both of faye's rays this time, determined to kill them once and for all... until gold breaks free, and that blinding, burning light fills the clearing. a ten foot radius won't hit them all, but it will hit the creature, the well, lila, and gold... and the creature lets out a horrible wail as it's literally shorn away by the light piece by piece until it's entirely gone, and there's a tremendous cracking noise as the well itself is broken, collapsing in on itself. the other shadowy figures vanish, and the trees unfurl, and they're left feeling that oppressive evilness of the area evaporating around them. ]

[ lila barely makes it next to faye before she crumples to her knees as the fire and acid finally ebbs. the blast happens a moment later but she genuinely doesn't care about gold's grand display of magic that explodes in a rush of heat that makes the burns across her skin sting wildly, clouding her mind with nearly all encompassing pain and it's all she can do to pull a cure light wounds potion from her bag and press it, still invisible, into faye's hand. ]
