Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

Yeah, thankfully, I've had plenty of distance from foster care for plenty of time. I just don't think it's fair to go around telling people they're better for having gone through something that hurt them. I'm not telling you that you shouldn't find the silver lining, but it's not something that everyone needs to hear, and for some, it might just put them right back where they started.

[ Skye looks pleasantly surprised by that reaction, like she was anticipating push-back. To be fair, most people are eager and ready to push back and tell someone how to live their life and how to deal with trauma. It's heartening to know Felicity doesn't roll like that. ]

[ she shrugs ] Most people are dealing with something or another. You get a lot further by understanding that than getting pissed.
