The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Miles walks over to his squire after he's had some time to settle into the festivities, holding his hand out for a shake.]

Grats, man. How you feeling?

Feeling good. Except for the whole awkward ceremony, it's been a good day. [he shook Miles' hand back]

So I guess now you're going to kick my ass into knightly shape?

Fortunately, that's all over. Won't have to do anything like it for awhile.

[He laughs.]

Something like that. You don't look like you'll need too much of that, though.

[Dude looks like he's in decent shape already. He's not blind.]

Good, because that armor? Totally chafes. I don't care what they say.

Yeah, I guess. And I'm guessing that since I was in the military back where I'm from I know how to do things. I wonder if I can kill someone with my legs.

There's armor you can actually wear in the field that's way better. This stuff is for ceremonies only, no worries.

You'll probably have the muscle memory, pick things up pretty fast. I didn't come through the Veil, so I can't tell you exactly what it'll be like, but I'm happy to listen.

It's just weird sometimes. Like I know how to do things, but I can't really remember how or where I learned it all.

From what I hear, that's pretty common from people who get affected by the Veil the most. I wish I could say you'll end up remembering stuff, but most people don't. Even then, it's repressed stuff, not stuff that was actually lost.

Yeah, I get some of the repressed stuff. Like I can tell things aren't the way they should be. Like your tech - it's so far backwards from what I'm used to I can't understand it.

If we can get her up and flying, anyone you guys think would be able to lend me a hand is more than welcome to join. I also need to find someone to help me figure out how to charge BeeBee-Ate otherwise he's going to have to go into low power mode.

I can take a look at it. I'm used to cars more than robots, but it can't hurt, right? And if I'm not the man for the job, we've got a whole sect that's got people that are good at that kind of thing.

BeeBee-Ate is a one of a kind droid. Pretty sure anyone here or back home would have to play a little to figure it out.

What kinds of stuff he does do?

Helps me fly the ship. He stores all the navigational charts and does the math so that I can focus on other parts. He's also got gadgets to help me when I'm on missions, and he's just a good companion all around.

Companion? You mean he like....talks and stuff? Legit AI?

Well, he doesn't speak basic like we do, but he does speak droid, and it's pretty much it's own language. And he does have his own personality and motivations. He's just programmed to do certain things as part of it. When you're in a ship, you need that second opinion to help keep you from making mistakes.

[Droids have...a language? Alright, going with that. That's fine.]

So he's basically a co-pilot with a photographic memory and a high-speed calculator?

Pretty much. And mine was given a very sarcastic nature.

I'm sure it'll be a blast when I get to meet him then.
