The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[He makes a mock gasp, before placing his hand against his chest.]

[ she squeezes his shoulder. ] I'm so sorry.

[Well, Thea, you asked for it. He knows some of the lyrics to "Somewhere" (pop culture 13), and he will serenade you with it, right now (sing 20 total).]

[ a knife comes from somewhere and before he's finished the line, it's hovering near his throat, eyes sparkling mischievously. ]

[His eyebrows go up a bit, because that's a ... very strong reaction.]

[ she grins, and drops the knife immediately. ]

I did warn you. [ and the knife gets tucked back under her skirt. ]

[He nods as he watches her put that away.]

Do you always have knives on you like that?

Yeah, pretty much. [ she looks up as she secures it and tugs up the skirt a little more so he can see that she has three tiny knives sheathed on her outer thigh. ] I was never a Boy Scout, but I can get behind some of their principles. Always prepared.

[He glances down at the knives, his eyebrows going up for a moment before shaking his head.]

You are so Oliver's sister.

[ her expression sours immediately. oliver has that effect, thea has a lot of anger. ] It's like you want me to stab you.

[He sighs, before shaking his head.]

Sorry. It's just ... you remind me of him sometimes.

[ is it because, like her brother, she has ZERO FUCKING CHILL?? that runs in the family, on every side. queens and merlyns have no chill. ]

[Which is why he regrets bringing it up now.]

And I know Oliver's lied to you a lot. And I can't apologize for him. But he does have some good qualities too, sometimes. I see a lot of them in you.

He abandoned me, Barry. He's all I have left and he left. [ again. and every time thea thinks about it it feels like someone is stabbing her in the chest. ]

[His face flickers for a moment, because he knows that feeling, not from being abandoned but from being forced away from someone he loves. He understands the grief, the grief she felt for someone she loved being dead and then leaving her.]

I know. I get it.

[And he won't try to justify it, mostly because he knows he can't.]

[ rubbing the heel of her hand roughly across her forehead, she sighs. ]

I'm sorry. Of all the people, I should not be taking my Oliver issues out on you.

[supertardiness]

[He shakes his head.]

No, it's okay. I'm the one who keeps bringing him up.

[ she scoops a glass of champagne off a tray, such a good coping mechanism. ]

It's not okay, my brother shouldn't affect my friendships when he's not even here.

Yeah, but he's your brother. His presence or lack thereof is always going to affect you. And it's okay for you to be angry about that.
