I've been to California, but it was for SHIELD so it doesn't count. I never got to go to the beach. New York didn't have good beaches. [ Steve nods his head. ] It's an interesting name. Look at you now. [ He gestures outward. ] You happy where you wound up?

Near death experience aside? Definitely. It's not like that's really new for me, anyway.

I've definitely had my fair share of those in my line of work.

[ His job is basically a near death experience back home. ]

You're a pretty strong woman.

[allaboutme]

Damn right. [ still, she sounds pleased, as she starts glancing through one of the baskets ] Something about growing up surrounded by vampires and fugly demons'll do that to you.

So, you've dealt with vampires too then huh?

[ His only knowledge of vampires is what he's hear from Rose during their training sessions. That and his introduction to Blondie. ]

Sort of a thing, when you live on a Hellmouth.

[recruited]

I've actually never heard of a Hellmouth. What is it exactly?

[allaboutme]

A dumping ground for demons and other nasty evil things. You know. A mouth of hell.

[recruited]

So, it's pretty much all in the name then huh?

[ Steve smiles to himself. ]

What sort of evil things are we talking?

[allaboutme]

Vampires, demons, ghosts... The standard Halloween package.

[recruited]

[ Steve sets the container of strawberries out once he gets the lid off. He plucks one up for himself. ]

The only thing I've been told about is vampires. Rose sort of explained them. Not in depth, but somewhat.

[allaboutme]

Who's Rose?

[recruited]

My sparring partner.

[ That doesn't sound awkward. ]

She's a knight. Her specialty is vampires. I think. [ That's not a specialty, Steven. ] Dark hair. Full of sarcasm.

[allaboutme]

What, you don't get enough of that from me? ... I mean, minus the sparring.

[recruited]

[ Steve holds the strawberry by the stem and instead of taking a bite he holds it out for Cordelia if she'd like. ]

You're sarcastic? I didn't even notice. [ He's got jokes. ] The main difference is--you are much prettier. [ Please don't murder him, Rose, you're pretty too. ]

[allaboutme]

[ ok that shuts down any jealousy pretty fast. she gets all heart eyes, a grin breaking out across her face, before she leans forward to delicately take a bite, looking up at him through lashes with a coy expression that's pretty disarming itself (charm 33). her fingers drift to her lips to wipe away some of the stray red painting them afterward. ] Well, yeah.

[ When she gives him that look Steve looks about ready to die right there (will save crit fail). He drops the strawberry because right now the only thing Steve can really focus on is Cordelia and her lips. Everything about her. ] Wow. You really are beautiful. [ The words leaves his mouth before he can actually stop himself. ]

[allaboutme]

[ her eyes trail down his face, reading his expression, her own heartbeat quickening as she registers his amazement. it all feels a little surreal, and there's something in his repetition that really warms her from the inside out. plenty of people compliment her on her looks - in fact, more than she's likely to get complimented on any of her other qualities - but when steve says it, it makes her feel like it's about a lot more than just the exterior. probably why in true cordelia form, she just says what she's thinking. ] ... If you wanted to kiss me again, this would be a great opening.

[ Steve looks a little like a deer caught in headlights when she says that. He does however not let that stop him. He sits up and moves over towards her side of the blanket. Now that he's next to her he lifts a hand to brush her cheek. He leans in towards her and kisses her (dex 21). It's not as monumental as the first kiss they shared, but it's fairly nice. ]

[ wow speak for yourself, steven. she thinks it's a lot more than fairly nice. her hand slides around his neck, a soft sound escaping her throat as she returns the kiss. when their lips part, her eyelids stay closed a moment before fluttering open. ] ... Wow is right.

[ He looks a little love drunk right now. His mouth still half open and his eyes having a tough time opening. Right now Steve is the starstruck young ingenue who is struggling to form actual sentences. ] We should do that more. [ Contain yourself, Steve. ]

[allaboutme]

[ she reaches up to trace dat jawline with her fingers lightly, her voice a little breathless as she concedes: ] I mean... we are really good at it.

[recruited]

[ He's had a few kisses since he woke up, but they've never really meant anything. The dates were only dates and then the connections fizzled into nothing. Steve was either too busy with SHIELD or just not ready. Now it's a different feeling. It's electric. It's heat. It's all sort of blending together. He doesn't understand it, but he definitely is enjoying it. ] I agree. [ He sighs a little and smiles. ] I'm really happy I came through the veil, Cordelia.

Pretty fond of that fact myself. [ but it means a lot to hear him admit it. and for her part? she can't think of anywhere she'd rather be ] Both through the Veil and through time.

Took me almost eighty years to find the right woman.

[ Guess what, Cordelia, that woman is you. ]

Well, worth the wait.
