[ She snaps her fingers. ] Languages! And handling a gun. But I'm fairly sure I didn't do that until I was older anyway.

They tried to train me with a gun when I joined the police department as a CSI.

[He cringes slightly.]

Let's just say it did not go well.

That look says there's a story there. And you never know. It could go a lot better this time. I've learned to never go around on a mission without mine, because anything can happen.

[supertardiness]

[He nods in agreement but ...]

I'm not really a gun guy. But I did learn how to throw a pretty decent punch, and now that I'm faster, that can hit ... really hard.

[watcherjunior]

Hit really hard? [ It takes a moment to click. ] Oh! Sorta like hitting someone with a car. On the more crude and violent scale.

[He nods in agreement.]

Yeah. The faster I go, the harder I hit.

Wow. You could actually kill someone like that.

[ Way to ruin the mood, Dawn. ]

So, are you actually faster than a speeding bullet? I heard something like that in a movie.

[supertardiness]

Well, it depends on a lot of factors. But a one-on-one match for distance between me and a bullet? I think I could come out on top.

Could? So you haven't really tested that yet, either?

[ Uh oh. She's getting ideas, Barry. ]

[supertardiness]

[He's not sure if he likes these ideas.]

Not really? I mean, I've done it with arrows, but none of my friends are all that fond of shooting guns for science.

[watcherjunior]

[ Pffft. You'll be fine, Barry. ]

Yeah, but arrows are like, only about a third as fast as bullets, on average. Of course, that's not accounting for someone having a-an enchanted bow or anything.

[supertardiness]

He definitely did not have an enchanted bow.

[He gives a small shrug.]

I've managed to push people out of the way of bullets without getting shot? And I did outrun a nuclear explosion once.

[Sort of.]

Ooh. Okay. Well, we will just go ahead and dub you "faster than a speeding bullet" because that's probably close enough.

[ She leans forward. ]

Why did you have to outrun a nuclear explosion?

[supertardiness]

Because I'm pretty sure nuclear radiation could still kill me and the very human companion I was with.

[watcherjunior]

[ Here, Barry, have a look of you're cute but duh. ] Well, yeah, I would imagine so. But, like, what caused the explosion? Bomb, a meltdown, some other craziness?

[supertardiness]

... Actually it was a person. A pair of people actually. It's ... a really long story, and I'm not even sure I could explain it properly.

[watcherjunior]

Wow. Exploding people. Exploding people. Okay, I haven't encountered that before. [ And there's a small realization that she shouldn't maybe sound so fascinated. ] Not that that's a good thing. Bad. Very bad.

[supertardiness]

Yeah, it's a .... really long story with way more science than I actually understand but somehow they got merged during the same event that gave me my powers and together they can create nuclear fission.

[watcherjunior]

They merg-- wow. Wow. [ Okay, Dawn's brain may be overloaded on the science stuff, as fascinating as she finds it. ] Okay, your home? Pretty sure it's a lot cooler than mine.

[supertardiness]

[He laughs.]

Maybe. But I'm sure your world is pretty cool all the same.

[watcherjunior]

To be honest? [ As if she's been anything but that while talking to him. ] I don't remember home. Not anything specific. I guess I'm at least lucky that I remembered my own name, cause some people don't even get that when they come through the Veil.

[supertardiness]

[He winces at that.]

That must suck, though. Not knowing anything about your life?

[watcherjunior]

It's-- [ She could deflect. But she won't. ] Yeah, it sucks. But there's no point really in wallowing in misery about it. That doesn't bring back any memories.

[supertardiness]

[He nods in agreement.]

Very true. I haven't figured out if I've forgotten anything yet, so I guess I'll just figure it out when I get there.

Well, you've sorta forgotten you forgot, so. Hopefully, it's just something minor, like you forgot you hate, I don't know, fish sticks. Just nothing that will, like, kill you.
