[ she looks down, reaching out to bury her hand in venus' fur again by means of distraction ] It's not like it's the first time things haven't worked out for me, but this time... I dunno. I thought it was different.

It was awhile ago, anyway.

You thought it was the one every story talks about?

[ he asked, trying not to let the cynic in him bleed out for her sake. (Bluff 16) ]

Wanna talk about it? I mean, I can't pretend to understand but I've always been told its healthier to talk about things like that. [ Venus moves off him him despite the fact he was petting her to, and went to curl up on Faiths lap. Mars pulled one of his knees closer to his chest once Venus moved.]

I don't know about the One... [ she sounds pretty skeptical about that ] But just... different.

[ she's happy to take the cat in her lap, and glances over at him for a moment, deciding. ] Do you know Jordan?

[ He just nodded.] Yeah, I know him. We were on the same team on Andres together. I don't know much about him though.

He's a genie. And a prince. His father is actually the King of the Genies.

A long time ago, my parents and Fiona's parents and their friends helped save the world from this evil tiefling in New York, and they wished on a genie to do it. But they didn't stop there. They made a whole bunch of wishes for themselves while they were at it, since all of them had three.

It sort of got the attention of the Genie King, Jordan's dad. He grew up knowing all about us. He didn't know how to tell me at first, but it was like he knew me like nobody else did, right when we first met.

And I thought-- Well, he started seeing this other girl suddenly, like out of nowhere. Faye? But she was hooking up with other people, and I didn't think it was exclusive or anything, so when he was throwing out all these signals while we were hanging out, I kissed him. And things got... [ she shrugs ] Well, he seemed pretty into things, until he just stopped out of nowhere and said he couldn't do it, even if he wanted to, and even if she was cheating on him.

So I asked him to break up with her, and be with me, if that's what he wanted to do, but he just kept saying that he couldn't and--

That was the last we ever talked about. He's mostly avoided me ever since, and we were like. Best friends before.

[ Mars sat quietly listening to her explain the whole situation. Nodding now and then and letting it sink in.

Wow that really sucked.]

Faye's kind of a friend, I work with her a lot. Is it possible things were open but he felt that he couldn't do that kind of thing? I wont pretend to understand that it seems complicated but sounds to me like he messed up and knew he did and now he's just not sure how to make it right.

I know if I did something that I knew was wrong to hurt a friend I would have a hard time facing them. Best advice I could give is you should corner him and make him talk to you.

Yeah, I guess. It just ... wasn't anything like him. Or maybe I just never really knew him in the first place.

I guess it could be a genie thing. They're... pretty weird.

Thats always possible, but it sounds like you guys were close. I think friends know each other better than even family. People tend to be more open with their closest friends.

[ He thought of Adam, Kenzi and Astrid a moment, looking back to her again.]

It could be, like I said you should corner him. And if he says anything to hurt you come tell me and I'll go play a normal guy and threaten him. [ The last bit more teasing than anything.]

[ that makes her laugh a little at least ] Oh, you're gonna be the tough guy, huh?

[ he smiled for her then.]

Hey, what else is my height good for? Beside's he barely knows me. Its not like he'd know I wont hurt him. Unless you know, he really does hurt you bad. Then yeah, then I would hurt him. I'm not as weak as I may look.

I never thought you were weak, Mars.

[ His smile stayed in place as he shrugged.] Some people think so, I'm glad you dont.

You can just surprise them when you're suddenly a badass.

[ He laughed a little.] Yeah I guess, something like that.

[ He nudged her with his shoulder and smiled.] And if all else fails I can fry someone with lightning. I have to protect my friends right?

I'm glad I'm on your good side.

Well, I doubt you could ever be on my bad side.

[ he smiled a bit more at her. ]

Well, despite what I said earlier, how about we get a drink later? No fuss or anything just a trip to the bar here.

Sure. Sounds like fun.

Want to go ahead and head in? Or hang out here in the sun some more?

I'm ready to head in, I think.

[ mars pushed himself up, after putting Venus on the ground. Book in one hand he offered the other to Faith to help her up.]

[ she takes his hand and pops up with ease, giving him another little grin ]

[ He smiled back at her grin, and only took his hand back once she was on her feet. Leading them on inside with Venus trailing after. He stopped to open the door for the ladies of course.]

Thank you. [ she grins at that, and gestures for venus to come by patting her leg ]

[ Venus trots after her like she is the classiest kitten around. And she totally feels that is her place. She moves along side of Faith instead of her human he leads the way, slipping his hands into his pockets as he walks along just ahead of them.]

[ did you want to wrap here or play out the rest?? b/c i am up for either lmfao i just wasn't sure ]
