Oh. [Malia feels weird for not realizing that, but she's not exactly good at those sort of subtle things.]

Sorry. I'm still trying to figure out those sort of things. I spent most of my life as a coyote and other animals don't joke around.

No, like a coyote. I'm a werecoyote and when I had my first transformation it was during an emotionally charged moment. [She says that like she's been given that as a clinical phrase. Her tone shifts to more casual as she continues.] I was a kid and I didn't want to shift back.

I've never met a werecreature that wasn't a werewolf. You were a child? Were you... bitten?

[animalistic]

Adopted. [A beat.] My biological parents are werewolves. Where I'm from, the whole transition part isn't like it is here. Or anywhere that I've read about.

There's something more internal and connected to it where you become what you are... or something to that effect. There are werewolves, werejaguars... Kanimas. A lot of different things that all originate from the same werewolf line.

And, since coyotes don't really travel in packs and since I wasn't really around other wolves, I guess when I had my first transformation, that's what happened for me.

That had to be terrifying...

It wasn't as terrifying as suddenly being a teenager and being stuck in a math class that you don't understand.

[ that earns a chuckle ] I suppose I wouldn't know. I didn't go to school here.

Well, I don't go to school here either, but back in Beacon Hills -- I got thrown into it.

[Literally she went from being a coyote for most of her formative years - right into being a high school junior. No placement tests, no summer school to catch her up. Who knows how it works.]

Did you have anyone there to help you?

[animalistic]

[Malia nods, her features lighting up a bit.] I did. Lydia and Stiles. [Of course the light in her eyes fades a bit, rather quickly.]

They don't know who I am here, though.

Stiles Stilinski?

[animalistic]

[Malia suddenly straightens up a bit. She's curious if she just knows Stiles or if Stiles is going around talking about this crazy girl to other people.]

Yeah, he's from the same place as me. Just... maybe not from the same time.

[silverguardian]

Stiles is a good man. We've fought together in the field.

[animalistic]

[Malia is more than just casually aware of what a good man Stiles is. She had been dating him before the Veil dropped her off here. Here to a place where he doesn't remember her at all. Where it's possible that he's never even met her, yet. When Nyna mentions how good he is, Malia nods. A fond smile slips back over her features as she thinks about him trying to help her adjust to being like other teenagers - how to say the right thing, instead of the first thing that came to mind. Her smiles fades, though, because it's been a long time since she's had that kind of friendship with him. Which is her fault.]

He is definitely worthy of being a Knight here.
