Perhaps. [or not having control] But I know that even if you don't know anything about me at all... I can't imagine there's nothing to be gained by being around one another.

[and with that Sark will be a "gentleman" and stop being a dick about their shared history or what have you. once they reach the restaurant, in fact, the conversation is a bit more "public"-friendly, and despite the feigned ignorance that seemed borderline factitious, he doesn't go out of his way to make it awkward or even slightly romantic.

he doesn't even use his charm on her anything, so it does seem to be pretty innocent. unless her sense motive beats a 29 bluff. then she can probably figure out that underneath all of this chatting about literature, there's probably some ulterior motive here.

[ she really doesn't want to enjoy herself, on any level, but without any context for why she shouldn't, besides that feeling in her gut, it's... hard not to appreciate having someone who seems to share her interests, and she fails completely at picking up on how that might be a calculated effort on his part (sense motive 5). she winds up even smiling sometimes when he gets her going about literature (will save 9), and she'll just aggressively ignore the fact that they are probably surrounded by actual couples in this hyper-romantic setting.

even though she had said she was going to grill him, basically, his admission about her being the thing he remembers the most makes her feel less comfortable in asking more, so she... honestly avoids the subject for the rest of the time. ]
