Why would he hurt her? [ And who is Buffy? ? ? ? How are all of these people in your family. Why would you have your family be dead to you. Is she talking about murdering her family because Rey has had enough of that lately. ]

They're dating, but they're both the heroic type, you know, very self-sacrificing for the cause. [ a beat. ] And kind of idiots sometimes but we have stressful lives, I can't blame them for struggling with how to juggle love and our frankly ridiculously dangerous jobs.

[ lucia scoots herself over to a low shelf and tips over a small box of soil on to her lap. ] Life is kind of messy.

[ That sounds like nonsense to Rey, but then, she doesn't have much experience in the area. Still, there's a slight crinkle in her expression that goes unvoiced. Instead of addressing it, she scoops Lucia up and begins to dust her off. ]

People are messy.

I hope they stay happy, your friends. [ She hunches her shoulders some, looking out over the flowers again. ] From what I understand, the whole reason this organization exists it to give people the chance for that happiness. It'd be a shame if those who are a part of it didn't get a chance at the same.

I hope so, too, [ vi agrees quietly. it hasn't worked out for her, but she isn't going to stop trying. it's probably wrong to be motivated by stubbornness, but she doesn't want to wind up old and jaded and unhappy when she could keep trying to violently rip happiness free from the world whether it wants her to or not. ]

[ vi's expression softens with affection. this girl is too sweet. ] Thanks, sweetie. I'll keep that in mind. And any time you want to come out here, the door's open. Well, I mean, it'll be closed to keep the humidity in, but it'll be unlocked, so same thing.

[ For a moment, she keeps her cool, nodding her appreciation. But then she gets excited and crinkles her nose and glances slightly away because grEEN. ]

Thank you. [ that covers it well, so she'll excuse herself after that, slipping out past vi before she can get called out for being adorable. ]
