[Hayley nods, glancing to her daughter.]True... but I think she's better here.

Not that I thought that when I first got here - that raising a daughter in a strange world, where she won't know anything of her true history would be [She pauses, trying to find the right word.] dishonest of me. Not that it's my fault, but that she wouldn't have the same life. Her name is already different than what it was meant to be back home - but back home I think things are worse for her. She's a target, we both were and even if she doesn't get to see where she came from, I think she'll see who she became a lot clearer when she's old enough.

[oftheband]

Ay, I can understand all that, certainly. [ he hesitates a bit, before asking ] A target of who, if I may ask?

[consequence]

When I arrived here, I was still pregnant. The witches of New Orleans had been looking to kill me, to take my baby for sacrifice.

[She takes a breath.] With Klaus being a hybrid, me being a werewolf and the heritage of his family having ties to the ancestors - she's sort of a triple threat.

[oftheband]

Makes sense, I suppose. Not that I have much truck with witches, but I suppose we've a few around here might qualify. They do tend to be... extreme.

[consequence]

[Hayley nods, rubbing her elbow and making sure to keep watch on her daughter.]

Back home, family is the most important thing. I'm supposed to trust them to keep me safe, to keep her safe and most of the time I didn't really feel like that was happening.

Here, though -- here I feel like she's safe. That there aren't groups forming to try and use us or come at us for their stake in power. [She laughs lightly.] Well, not me directly, at least.

[oftheband]

The Knights as a whole, maybe another story. [ he chuckles ] Well. You ladies have a good time with your... Valentines, then.

[Hayley smiles and nods, moving to reach for her daughter's hand.]

[And Olivia waves bye to the man as they head off to deliver more.]
