I didn't say that. They claim this world was made to punish us, that not having magic's a punishment. You've never heard that twisted take on dogma, where this world's nothing but a prison?

[She is trying to follow all of this, because it feels like it's important, but it's also something where it could just be the weird ramblings of a guy that thinks he knows better. It's a lot to absorb for a first time meeting.]

Any clue who is supposed to be keeping an eye on the cage?

Sounds like a thrilling conversation.

[She finishes her beer and leans back in her seat.]

I wouldn't say it's a habit per say. [She drawls, glancing to him with mild amusement.]

[She chuckles.] There's alcohol here. I'd stick it out for that alone.

It's a quick cut, something abrupt and unexpected that has her suddenly back in the hallway outside his apartment. Her fingers are tucking into the loose knot of his tie, yanking it hard as her other hand pulls the ends of her own shirt out of the waist of her jeans. It's hurried and rushed, but she's never really been the type to take things slow and steady. From the hallway to the doorway. Heavy breathing and amused sounds come along with the fumbling of fingers as more clothing is shed and left behind them. She goes from against the doorway to against the wall. Supported by him. Surrounded by him. It's a blur of skin and tongue and teeth and --

Jo clears her throat, catching herself in the brief fantasy before returning her attention to her beer.]

Nope. Just the beer.

[ well that was a ballin' sense motive check on his part, so he at least catches some meaning in her pause there and sits watching her carefully for a long moment, before finishing off his own drink in one swig. ] Pity, that.

[She still watches him, moving to finish her own drink.]

Not a great night to go home alone.

[huntersdaughter]

[Even though the glass is empty, she still touches it, tipping it onto the edge of its base and rocking it slowly side to side. Living at the castle means that she never goes home to an empty place, but it's definitely not the same as what she is pretty sure he's implying. (sense motive 22 total)]

Because of the holiday or because you're worried I might follow another guy home?

[She smirks, amused but also curious if this is something she actually wants to just walk away from. It's been a while since she's had time for herself and it's been even longer since she's had a reason not to just head back.]

Well, I'd hate for you to be so concerned.

Then I suppose I'd better offer you an escort.

[huntersdaughter]

[She makes an amused sound, smirking at him. She can't actually let him walk her home, despite it being an almost gentlemanly thing.]

And where might you be escorting me?

Where are you staying?

[huntersdaughter]

[She still plays with her empty glass. Her fingertip tapping against the side of it as she considers her options.]

I've been staying with a few friends. [It's technically the truth. She has friends in the Knights.]

Super comfy couch. [She smirks with that reply, because it's funny and also because she's stretching that truth, too. (bluff 19)]
