Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

[ He thinks that's a compliment, but it sounds a little wishy washy. He'll take it though because he knows that he's not really on point with words either. ]

Yeah. I mean--I'm not just not doing it for--well, I mean I did want to meet the right woman. Which is you. [ Wow. Okay. Now it just seems like he wants to have sex with her. Which is nice, but not what he means. ] I'm not scared of it is what I'm trying to say. When I do--I want you. And only you.

[ okay nice recovery, rogers. gold medalist. that brings the smile back to her face, at least, and seems satisfying enough for her. ] I can definitely live with that.

[ He is very good at gymnastics and bending shit. He could so totally be a gold medalist. ]

Ya know--[ He spins her a little while dancing. ]--all I see are two heroes. [ You're the other, Cordelia. ]

[ she grins as he draws her back in, adding: ] Two heroes who really know how to dance.

Scratch that. You can dance. I can fake it.

Well, you're pretty convincing.

Which is pretty big because I've got a few friends who say I'm not very good at lying.

[ Mostly Natasha. ]

Do you wanna go for a walk outside later? I wanna show you something.

[ Steve quietly takes her hand and leads her outside with him. He doesn't say anything, but he does look up at the sky. He positions Cordy in a specific spot and points upwards. ]

That is Ursa Major. They call it the Great Bear. Wanna know why?

[allaboutme]

[ she studies it for a moment, looking pretty clueless, and glancing over at him finally ] ... A poor grasp on what animals look like?

[ He chuckles softly as he moves behind her. He outstretches one arm to point at it as he speaks softly into her ear. #Romantic. ]

The Romans have their own legend. They say that Jupiter, the King of the Gods, was lusting after a beautiful young woman named Callisto. Enter Jupiter's wife who was named Juno. Now Juno was very jealous of Callisto and turned the woman into a bear. While in the woods Callisto was almost shot by her son who was named Arcas. Jupiter was able to intervene and to avert the tragedy and turned Arcas into a bear as well. He sent them both to live in the sky in safety. Together. Which is where we get Ursa Major. The Great Bear. Then we have Ursa Minor. The Smaller Bear.

[ o-oh, well she crit failed her will save, so she's having a hard time paying attention to his actual words, her breath catching in her chest a little as his breath tickles her ear. her voice sounds a little distant, even as she expresses somewhat skeptically: ]

So... that was his great solution to the problem? Leave her as a bear forever? Couldn't he just have... turned her back?

I think he saw it as a kindness. He knew that Juno would never stop and letting Callisto be with her son forever was better for her.

[ Like he actually knows. He's just sorta trying to read between lines here. ]

No offense, but I can see why the magic died with the wife.

[ He chuckles gently against Cordelia's ear and shakes his head. ]

Fear turns people into dark things.

[ rude, steve. so rude...

she presses back against him just a little. look he's warm and it's chilly out here. ahem. ] Or people use that as an excuse.

[ she points up at another constellation, not ready for this to be over yet ] What about that one?

[ He's being comforting. He has no idea that she's this into the cuddling. He's old okay? He's learning. ]

True. [ He squints. ] Leo Minor, but don't quote me. The one above Ursa Major is Ursa Minor. Her son.

How do you know all this stuff?

[recruited]

I've spent a lot of time in foxholes and trenches all through the night during the war. You meet people who know things. Sometimes all you can do is talk. If no one's shooting at you.

We really need to talk about this people constantly shooting at you thing.

[ Steve figures that now is a good time to hold onto her. Which he does. His arms come around her and he holds her against him. ]

I was in the war, Cordelia, that sorta happens. [ He gets it though. Sorta. ] I'm okay. I promise.

[ ahahaha what a shitty will save. her hands come up to wrap around his arms, pressing back against him tightly. ] I mean, I get that it's a whole part of the superhero package, making yourself a target and all. Kind of a big red, white, and blue bullseye for the bad guys.
