[ It's been an eventful morning downtown.  After a troll hit up a bank and the customers within, he went on a violent rampage through police officers attempting to escape, that have ended with a standoff.  He is currently holding a busful of people hostage, surrounded by squad cars downtown, and the Knights have been charged with helping contain the situation without any civilian casualities... ]

[It's cool, Rocket wouldn't have hit the driver anyway, because the troll injured him early, and he's still in Rory's care. That being said, he's not going to waste time staring at the sudden arrival of a gun toting talking raccoon.

Rory is simply going to drop down, using his body to shield the injured bus driver who is still in his care, trying to shield his body and see if he can reach for his sword, which is with the rest of his medical supplies.]

[ edain positions himself below the back doors that kali has opened, ready to grab people and hoist them down... even though he'd rather be stabbing things ]

[meanwhile, Groot literally groans because he's supposed to be the distraction, not his tiny little friend.

Then he slams his hands down on the front windshield to break it (atk 21/17, dmg 13/17), both as a tactic to get the enemy's attention and also to...probably drag the driver out of the bus if he doesn't haul ass.

This is going well.]

[Chewie, still distressed, but finally with a way off the bus, does what any cat would do. She climbs a tree.

Considering she actually knows the tree currently breaking a windshield, he seems a good candidate. She bolts through the windshield, scrambling up Groot's arm to go perch on his head, hackles raised (climb 24).]

[ the troll lets out an angry yell as everything starts exploding and shattering around him. he turns around sprays bullets towards the front of the bus where groot and chewie are (atk 15 - they must make reflex saves DC 15 or take 13 dmg.

the passengers scream, but only those who are close to the back door dare to start moving right now with bullets flying down the main aisle. a mother hands her kid down to edain, as the bus driver beneath rory groans. "We're gonna all get killed!" ]

[Rocket takes advantage of the distraction to wedge himself in the space between the driver's seat and the pedals for cover.]

Buddy, I can see you're havin' a pre-tty bad day today, so maybe we can take a moment to chill. Or else my tree buddy out there is gonna have to do somethin' unpleasant. We're reasonable guys.

[it's not even... really much of a diplomacy check, but he wants it on record that he tried.]

[ under her breath, mostly to edain, ] You shot a door open, Rocket, I'm not sure you entirely know what reasonable means!

[ kali leaps up onto the bus (jump 35) and moves so that she's between the mother and the gun toting troll, gently nudging her toward the door as well. ] You're next, please. Quickly and quietly, please hurry.

[ she points to the next closest civilian as she tries to keep creeping forward. ] You're next.

Everybody stay down and move towards the back of the bus! [Her alarmed, Welsh tone struggling to be heard above the sound of the gunfire.

She is going to try and make up for Rocket's attempt?! At diplomacy as she draws her guns and steps into the front of the bus.]

Listen, mate. You are outnumbered and outgunned. If you need help, we will help you but you need to stop shooting before anyone else gets hurt! [Diplomacy 35. Yeah if this doesn't work she's just going to start shooting tbh.]

[Rory Williams sure as hell didn't survive the Romans, following the Pandorica throughout history, the end of the world and all of the Doctor's alien adventures to die in a hostage situation with a troll. He draws his sword, before shifting just slightly so that the driver can move ahead of him to the back of the bus.]

Stay low. Move quickly.

[ edain takes note as he helps lower the next person out, glancing inside ] An armed civilian with a blade. I knew there were some reasonable types in this world.

[Groot pauses to see how this attempt at diplomacy goes, holding his action.]

[From on top of Groot's head, Chewie yowls angrily, trying to be intimidating but mostly ending up adorable (intimidate 7). OH RIGHT and she took full damage from the attack so now she's not looking super happy so she makes herself small using Groot's head as cover.]

[ it's far far too late for diplomacy here, it seems. the troll, enraged, roars so loudly that they can smell his bad breath. ] LEAVE

[ and to enforce that point he's going to fire at the front of the bus again (reflex 15, dmg 8).

the next civilian gets out, and the mother glances nervously past kali, holding her hands over her kid's ears as they scream against the gunfire. ]

[whelp that happened. rocket buries himself underneath the front seat to avoid the hail of bullets (reflex 20), and then jumps back into the aisle.]

Yeah, that's how I deal with my problems too. Problem is I take it out on bad people.

[annd since he tried to do the diplomacy thing, he's just gonna let it go with both of his excaliburs. (atk 27/atk 17/atk 27/atk 28; dmg 12, dmg 7, dmg 15, dmg 9)]

Go, [ kali urges the mother and child insistently, frowning because she doesn't like it at all that gwen illuminated the troll to the fact that civilians are escaping and now he could turn around any second with a hail of bullets. that was the literally exact opposite of anything kali wanted and a huge tactical disadvantage because now the freakin' civilians know they could be targeted. she tries to usher more people back, still putting her thin body between them and the bullets as she edges forward more. (dex 20 total) there is something, at least, that seems extremely reassuring about kali, a calm in all this chaos. (diplomacy nat 20 weh, 19 total) ] I promise I'll cover you. I'll get everyone out, just go.

[And with all efforts in Diplomacy getting them nowhere, Gwen steps back into the doorway to dodge the spray of bullets before moving out again to fire both her weapons directly at the troll.

Atk 23, 20. Dmg 8, 7. If they hit.]

[Rory is just going to keep inching out with the injured bus driver and all the other injured civilians, all the while readying an action to get stabby if the troll decides to turn on the back of the bus with his machine gun.]

[ edain keeps lifting people down as they hail bullets into the troll's side, four of the bullets total hitting between gwen and rocket... but a spot check of 20+ would catch that his skin is slowly sealing over the wounds...

the civilians all look pretty reassured by kali's words, the mother nodding to her, and moving to hand her kid down to edain. ] That's the way.

[Because he's about to move and duck his head to get on this fucking bus, move past his little raccoon friend, and try to grapple the troll. Hopefully the kitty abandons ship, too. Nice kitty.

Unfortunately, Groot gets clobbered by the troll's aoo, taking 6 damage after dmg reduction.

Whatever, hopefully he'll keep his attention this way by being RIGHT IN HIS FACE.]

[Yeah this is all way too much heat for the kitty who has taken too much damage for someone who... doesn't have a character sheet or real stats so she's gonna claw her way down and FULL RETREAT away from the bus screw this shit.

She doesn't go far, though, lurking under a car and waiting for the fighting to be over.]

[ you know what, tree-man, the troll is going to try to gRAPPLE YOU RIGHT BACK. groot's attempt to hit him does nothing, so he makes a grapple check of 24, which does 12 dmg if he wins... ]

[WOW GUESS WHO SUCKS IT'S ME.

Rocket sees ALL apparently with his 34.] Oh, that's just unfair. Groot, get a hold of 'em.

[HE'S TRYING, ROCKET. GOD. he'll try... shooting again even though it's not doing very good. at least it might distract him enough that Groot can hold him. (atk 17/atk 16/atk 26/atk 30.... gonna assume those first two don't hit, so dmg 10 and dmg 18]

[ like an irritated pissy cat, kali uses one of the seats like a springboard (jump 34) and curls her tiny arms around the troll's neck like a vise, pressing the flat of her forearm against his throat. (initial grapple 39, no aoo! opposed grapple to hold 31, idk if it does dmg this round but if it does 17) i still don't know grapple rules so why do i play a tiny someone that grapples??? ] Please release the tree, he is an endangered species and if you are very nice and listen and drop your gun I can promise that the raccoon will stop shooting at you.

His gun! [Gwen calling for somebody to disarm the troll as she holds action for this round, holstering one gun and still motioning for passengers to leave.]

[As the tiny blond just flings herself at the troll and the tree and seems to have that situation well in hand, Rory is going to take his eyes off to the troll and focus on urging the passengers off the bus.]
