[A garbled, static-filled transmission, encoded in a Shadow language, has made its way to the Knights attention, seemingly linked to a series of similar transmissions last year.  Equipped with a decoding program by the Dragon's Hoard, the Knights head to a set of railroad tracks that were mentioned, to try to see what this is all about... ]

See y'round, Jamie. [ she gives him a lil' wave before she turns back to head for the woman in the car. she approaches slowly and from the passenger side so she's not like all up in this woman's anxious grill. ]

Hey. Do you need any first aid? I have a kit that you can use. [ her smile is small, careful, and she stays a few feet away from the window. (diplomacy 17) ]

[ she shakes her head rapidly, clearly not wanting anyone who isn't an officer to get near her. ] I'm fine, I'm fine.

That's totally fair, yeah. I'm just gonna sit... over there, okay? [ she just backs away and moves to sit down with her back pressed against the fence. getting hit by a car is owie and the adrenaline is leaving her damn fast so she is just going to chill and wait for the cops and maybe cry a little. ]

[ they show up not much longer, and she'd hear jaime and daryl vaguely arguing about staying or going, but in the end they stick around. the cop car pulls up, its siren rising in a single wail as it comes to a stop, and a tall officer, blonde and smug, gets out. she looks around the scene, eyes falling on alice. ]

Someone wanna tell me what happened here?

[ alice raises her hand and struggles back to her feet, wincing tremendously. ]

Hi, yeah. There was an accident. The train thingy -- [ she gestures to the guard rail ] -- wasn't going down and the car was still coming but the train was also coming and I couldn't get it to stop so I, um, shot the tires out.[ yep, gonna take all the blame, gesturing back to jamie and daryl's car as she adds, ] They stopped after to see if everything was okay. I think the woman in the car might need medical attention, she might have had a panic attack? Reasonably.

[ maybe the cop is really gullible because alice is not a liar. (bluff 13) ]

You were armed? [ he at least gestures another guy over to go check out the girl ]

Yeah. [ her holds her arms up to reveal the excalibur on her hip. the one she didn't actually use but ukw. whatever. ] I have a permit.

[ she hands it over without hesitation. at least the excalibur is the same as frankie's so she has that going for her. ]

[ he looks it over, clearly surprised by what he sees ] Interesting handgun. Where'd you purchase this?

[ she's curious if he's surprised because he... recognizes it??? so she studies him carefully as he looks it over. (sense motive 20 total) ]

It was a gift, actually. From a guy I worked with overseas.

[ there's no sign of recognition beyond perhaps of the fact that it's based off a glock ]

I suppose this young lady was lucky then, that you had it with you.

[ there seems to be static coming out of the police car radio............ he doesn't notice because that's all it sounds like right now, but it is a familiar sound to her ]

[ sighs NOT AGAIN ]

Uh, do you mind if I grab my phone? [ in case he thinks idk that she has another gun that she's reaching for or something. ]

[ he waves a hand: ] Go ahead.

[ she struggles to her feet, oh god it hurts, and pulls her phone free from her pocket, bringing up that decryption program again. ]

[ the translation runs across the screen, mid-message: ]

--saved a life that might otherwise have been lost. you should be proud of the work you've done. i apologize that i can tell you no more than this, or reveal little else about myself, but i have chosen the knights as my hands, and hope i have proven to you that i can be trusted.

[ quietly: ] You're... welcome?

[ that was not what she expected at all, so she just sort of stares at the screen blankly for a while. ]

[ the cop comes back at that moment to ask: ] Find it?

Yes, phone, right here. [ she gives it a little wave. ] So do I have to give a statement or surrender my weapon or, like, have a court date, because I'll do all that, but I think I should maybe swing by not super urgent care.
