[A garbled, static-filled transmission, encoded in a Shadow language, has made its way to the Knights attention, seemingly linked to a series of similar transmissions last year.  Equipped with a decoding program by the Dragon's Hoard, the Knights head to a set of railroad tracks that were mentioned, to try to see what this is all about... ]

[ alice's nose crinkles as she looks at her phone like dear god i hope this works. she does not feel like she's incredibly equipped to be mission leader, but she also knows that she has the most experience with the bunbun situation so she'll deal with it. her bright hair is tucked under a boston bruins cap spitefully, even though she doesn't like the bruins, and as she lifts her gaze to look around, she frowns. ]

If anyone sees a guy sinisterly twirling his mustache, I suggest running. We're too close to train tracks for that to lead to anything but murder to the tune of mad cap silent film music.

[ Deryn was following close behind Alice, his hands shoved in his jacket pocket as he looked around quietly. (Dark vision + Spot 20) He'd been mostly quiet since they arrived. ]

If anyone fits the description of "bad news", I'm smacking them. [With her batons. Which she takes from her belt and starts somewhat idly twirling in her hands (dex 19 total because apparently not all of her rolls suck ass today), just for something else to do.]

[Yes well, with her spectacular Spot Check of 13, Frankie is clearly more interested in checking over some of the equipment she has in her bag than she is looking around.]

We're in New York... you might be using those a lot.

[Frankie catches all of that and yet... understands none of it. She will at least look around the platform (Spot 15)]

[- a girl in her late teens/early twenties! walking along side the tracks, easily noticed by the overlarge sweater she's wearing. a boy around the same age is following close behind her, like he intends to yank her away from the tracks at any moment.]

A Hummer? What kind of person even drives a Hummer. They're ugly and they kill the ozone layer and stuff.

Mabel, it doesn't matter if they're probably Republicans. We've still gotta stop them from being run over by a train. Or at least find out who the hell is behind all this.

...though if there's a Trump sticker I may revise that opinion.

[Dipper manages to contain his questions during the transit, though he does take out his phone and type furiously. I'm sure it's nothing. No, it's just easier to take notes on his phone one handed than on paper, even if he prefers paper. He can transcribe them or print them later. He sticks close to Mabel's side, but he doesn't take his eyes off the group for very long, as if afraid they'll slip away into the shadows the second he looks away.

When they finally arrive, he tucks his phone away, pulls out his notebook and a pen, and glares around at everyone suspiciously.]

Okay. So what's your deal, then?

[They seemed to have good intentions, but then again, so do lizard people before they take off their skin.]

[meanwhile, Mabel is wandering around the room with wide eyes like she belongs here.]

Ooooh fancy~ Vigilante justice must pay out the butt.

[ Deryn had vanished into one of the hotel rooms when they arrived for a second peaking back out when Dipper asked his question, stepping on back out of the room... with a bag of cheetos he was opening. ]

What does Vigilante mean again? My English is not the best.

It means these two think we're not operating within the law. [Which depending on the Mission wasn't entirely inaccurate to be honest...]

It's not that simple. [Frankie dropping a set of keys on the table as she so helpfully adds;] But the pay doesn't suck.

I don't think secret government organization is that much better than secret vigilante organization. [Dipper may have some authority problems. Just a few.] But you don't have any badges, right? None that you've shown anyway.

I don't know. It sounds cooler. [Tone dry enough that it's hard to tell if she's joking or not.

Dropping into a seat at the table.]

Nope. [The least informative.] I've got a swipe card and a credit card but I don't think that's what you're after.

Nope, but I have snacks?

[ He answered as he started to work on the cheetos. He's new, sorry Dipper.]

I mean, I wouldn't turn down either of those. [A beat. Whoops, probably not something he should say out loud. He clears his throat and takes a seat at the table as well.]

So what is it you guys actually do?

Besides do all that crazy action movie stuff I didn't think anyone does in real life.

[JUST GONNA MAKE HERSELF AT HOME. she gestures at deryn.] Snack me, friend.

I'm new, I don't do much.

[ he offers the cheetos over to Mabel with a grin. Pulling a bag from aside the chair he had flopped in and putting it between them a whole bag of snacks.]

It's my first time in America. I was told Americans have amazing snacks!

Yeah, that's a myth. [The hint of a wry grin touching her lips as she gently rains on Deryn's parade.

She's Australian okay. She was born to argue that Australia has the best snacks.]

And I shot some tyres, I'm not Jason Bourne. [Though at least she appears to see how it might have looked that way, still with the grin.]

We, investigate things. Strange occurrences, unexplained deaths. The kind of stuff that local authorities aren't able to handle. We specialize in the unusual I guess.

That's what we do. [Dipper sounds somewhere between excited, annoyed, and jealous. They probably have actual money and technology, but also that's his and Mabel's schtick. There are people who do it professionally?]
