[A garbled, static-filled transmission, encoded in a Shadow language, has made its way to the Knights attention, seemingly linked to a series of similar transmissions last year. Equipped with a decoding program by the Dragon's Hoard, the Knights head to a set of railroad tracks that were mentioned, to try to see what this is all about... ]

[Ugh socializing. He rolls his eyes, especially when Mabel gives the worst explanation of them being the good guys ever, and leaves her to it, turning towards the others.]

I don't think was about you two, actually. Judging from the timing and speed of the other vehicle, I think she's the one who was in danger here. I mean, if we hadn't stopped you, you'd probably have made it across before the train did. Though the fact that this has involved you before is... interesting.

[He looks over at the Karthur Institute crew.]

Do you have notes on the last time? I'll need to see them. Also do you have signal tracking gadgets? You seem like you should. I want to know who's sending this stuff.

[ the woman looks uncomfortably out at mabel, before reaching for her cellphone.

"I'm calling the police," she informs her. STAY AWAY.

daryl slowly emerges from his car, looking this all over like what the actual fuck, as jamie frowns deeper. ] You're honestly trying to tell me you have no idea who's behind all this?

[BACKS AWAY FROM THE CAR.] Never mind. Made it worse.

[she's just gonna join her brother so she can whisper.] She's calling the cops, Dipper. I don't know if she's our girl.

Do I really strike you as someone who knows what the hell they're doing? [ come on, jamie, she's in such a constant state of winging it on missions that if she spontaneously erupted into feathers, she wouldn't even be surprised. ] We couldn't trace the transmission last time, but they'll have better luck this time.

[ she eyes mabel for a moment before returning her attention to jamie. ] You should go before the cops get here. I'm sure you don't want to deal with them.

You really don't. [Dipper says dryly, though she definitely wasn't asking him. He turns back to Mabel.]

I don't know either, but we should make our next move. I'd rather not deal with cops either.

[Frankie re-holsters her weapon, moving closer to the others and making matters with the second driver even worse as... she too crit fails her diplo..]

Sorry about the tires, yeah? I'd help you fix 'em but bullets and rubber don't really mix ya know.

[Such fail. Wow... Nodding at Dipper.]

If you think you can help? Stick around we'll... make sure you're alright. I mean you figured out the last code, so. [Yeah she's pretty damn sure they need him and she figures these two are a package deal.]

[ "STAY AWAY FROM ME!" the woman shrieks, pulling a can of mace out of her glovebox. y'all scary tbh.

jamie reaches for alice's arm. ] Where do you think you're goin'? You're gonna tell me what you find out.

I am not going anywhere. They are. [ she gestures to the rest of the them, not making an effort to tug herself out of his grasp. she's already proven to be way weaker than him. ] For Pete's sake, everyone leave that poor woman alone. Get back to the hotel, I will meet you there once I clear this up with the cops.

Hotels? That's so... mundane. I kind of expected secret underground bases, or at least penthouses.

[He looks at Frankie and shrugs.] And like I said, I'm not going anywhere til I get some answers.

They're pretty nice actually. [ Deryn spoke looking over to Dipper.]

Do you want us to take these two with us? [ He called over to Alice, pointing to the twins.]

I don't care, if they wanna go. [ she shrugs like w/e, she just really doesn't want people to get arrested on her watch which is what looks like is gonna happen if they're still here when the cops show up. ]

[ The goth looking one, turned back to the twins.]

Come on then! You get to come with me. [ He figured if they had questions than what better way to get them answered than taking them to the hotel... cause he didn't listen to what Dipper said. But Mabel gave him gum, so she's cool.]

Right... [yeah, best go with these guys. she knows Dipper won't go down without a fight when it comes to this and she isn't going to leave him.] C'mon, bro.

Really wasn't asking for permission. [Said with a scowl towards Deryn, but he does want to learn more, so he's still going to come. He just needs to make his you're not my real dad position clear.]

[ they can make a branch off hotel thread! meanwhile, jamie at least complies in letting her go ] My boss is gonna kill me, if this shit keeps happening.

[ she winces, apologetic. ] If it's any consolation, I don't exactly make your job easy.

Trust me, if a job comes up and it's in New York again? I'm sitting that one out. [ she pulls the magazine from her pocket and holds it out. ] Here. I'm gonna go check on-- [ her thumb jerks to the woman like maybe she can de-panic her. ]

[ he reaches for it ruefully, but accepts it. ] Yeah, yeah. Fine.

See y'round, Jamie. [ she gives him a lil' wave before she turns back to head for the woman in the car. she approaches slowly and from the passenger side so she's not like all up in this woman's anxious grill. ]

Hey. Do you need any first aid? I have a kit that you can use. [ her smile is small, careful, and she stays a few feet away from the window. (diplomacy 17) ]

[ she shakes her head rapidly, clearly not wanting anyone who isn't an officer to get near her. ] I'm fine, I'm fine.

That's totally fair, yeah. I'm just gonna sit... over there, okay? [ she just backs away and moves to sit down with her back pressed against the fence. getting hit by a car is owie and the adrenaline is leaving her damn fast so she is just going to chill and wait for the cops and maybe cry a little. ]

[ they show up not much longer, and she'd hear jaime and daryl vaguely arguing about staying or going, but in the end they stick around. the cop car pulls up, its siren rising in a single wail as it comes to a stop, and a tall officer, blonde and smug, gets out. she looks around the scene, eyes falling on alice. ]

Someone wanna tell me what happened here?

[ alice raises her hand and struggles back to her feet, wincing tremendously. ]

Hi, yeah. There was an accident. The train thingy -- [ she gestures to the guard rail ] -- wasn't going down and the car was still coming but the train was also coming and I couldn't get it to stop so I, um, shot the tires out.[ yep, gonna take all the blame, gesturing back to jamie and daryl's car as she adds, ] They stopped after to see if everything was okay. I think the woman in the car might need medical attention, she might have had a panic attack? Reasonably.

[ maybe the cop is really gullible because alice is not a liar. (bluff 13) ]

[ yeah no ]

You were armed? [ he at least gestures another guy over to go check out the girl ]
