The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

"I'm not sure? Maybe both. Maybe it's just me because I've been told I'm very precious and endearing and I recently died so that might have something to do with it." She's cute, okay, everyone loves her.

[hawkeing]

"Recently died?" She looks pretty okay, so Hawke just sort of... goes for it. Even if death is an awkward and bad topic for her. Coping mechanism is go! "I guess you're just endearingly haunting."

Hawke, no.

Hawke, yes.

It takes her a few seconds to realize it's a joke and not Hawke thinking she's a ghost -- because that would be silly! ghost are all see through and sticky! -- but once she realizes, she let's out a peal of delighted giggles.

"Yes!"

[hawkeing]

Kali's bright personality is a heartache for Hawke, reminding her very pointedly of her sister. This is what Hawke imagines Bethany would have been like should Thedas have proven kinder. Should Bethany have survived the Blight.

"Endearingly haunting it is. And adorable. I won't be forgetting you now."

[felidity]

Her hands happily clasp together in front of her. "I hope I'm unforgettable. It would be awful otherwise."

[hawkeing]

So much like Bethany. Hawke hadn't really gotten that idea with the spider killing part in Australia, but now? Oh Maker yes. "With your skills? I never could. Besides, I owe you for bringing me here. What kind of friend would I be if I forgot that?"

[felidity]

Oh my god. They're friends.

"Oh, you don't owe me. Maybe Malina, I think she did all the work, I just did a lot of the punching. I have a lot of issues to work through lately. The spiders were fun to punch."

[hawkeing]

Best ever. No regrets.

"No, see, punching spiders is automatic friendship in my book," Hawke says easily. "I've had more than enough of them for several lifetimes. If I ever see any again, I'll call you."

[felidity]

"Goody. That's my job here, punching things," she explains, "I'm very good at it. Do you know about the sects, did anyone tell you yet?"

[hawkeing]

Hawke approves. Kali is her go-to puncher now.

"Not in detail. I'm hoping this isn't some sort of sibling rivalry deal. I had enough of that already." Thank you, Carver.

[felidity]

"I don't think so, but I've never has a sibling rivalry so I can't be sure." She just wants to be honest with Hawke!! "There are five sects: the Dragon's Tongue, Hide, Hoard, Light, and the Freelancers. Each as a sort of specific, um, specialty."

[hawkeing]

"I would offer you mine, but no one should have to listen to that tired argument." This time, Hawke sounds... less joking and slightly more weary, like she's grown tired of it. She has, really. Tired of her tit of a brother being a tit of a brother, tired of how he always hated walking in her shadow and made sure she knew it.

"So... what's the difference between them? I'm assuming there's no hoarding any tongues or light going on."

Haha, Hawke. Haha.

"Um, the Hoard is for smart people, the Tongue is for people who know how to talk, the Light is for healers, the Fire is for magic, I forgot that one, Freelancers do whatever, and the Hide is for hitting things." She puffs up with a smile. "That's me."

[hawkeing]

"Sounds like I'll be Fire or Light." It'll be a toss-up probably. Whichever one it is, she'll be happy, she's sure. "You must be the best one in the Hide, though I'm not sure why it's called Hide if you do more hitting."

[felidity]

"'cause we're the front line of defense. We protect people like you." She's so proud of Hawke's compliment, it's practically radiating off of her. Heck yeah she's the best in the Hide. Will continue to be the best once Alec gets promoted, but she'll have company in her amazingness.

[hawkeing]

"And that's why we pay you all the coin," Hawke jokes, though she really does appreciate it. Her preferred companions were Varric and Aveline. The others traded off. Except Anders. She never really liked him and by the end, there was too much animosity.

[felidity]

"That's true. Oh look, pie!" And without any warning at all, Kali bolts off. No, that's it. Welcome to Kali's inability to disengage from a conversation politely.

On the plus side, Hawke is amused. She'll have to ask later how the pie was. For now, she turns to see who else is around and if she can escape soon or not.
