The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

[Formal events have never meant anything good for Ashe-- she's been to precious few, but the most memorable gathering included getting far more involved in Orlesian politics and intrigue than she ever cared to, spending most of her night searching for enough evidence and blackmail to strongarm the politicians in question into playing nicely with one another.

Tonight is already a vast improvement over her night at the Winter Palace, and she's much more used to large groups of people than she had been back then, although she still largely keeps to herself-- smiling warmly at anyone who happens to glance her way, but still somewhat overwhelmed, as she has been since her arrival a few short weeks ago. She's dressed herself up since shedding her armor, with her hair pinned up and minimal makeup applied thanks to Josephine's expert tutelage during Ashe's early days with the Inquisition (Disguise 19), though her left sleeve is carefully pinned back with a wrap draped across both shoulders to make the fact that she's missing most of her left arm from being jarringly obvious. For the most part, she'll choose to quietly people watch when she's not pleasantly chatting with interested parties.]

[Zaihne is cheerfully embracing a tried-and-true necromancer stereotype and wearing formal red and black, having cleaned up nicely for the squiring ceremony itself and taken the extra time to do a bit of grooming (Disguise 17) before coming down to the afterparty fashionably late. He's both tirelessly cheerful and social, almost too much so, and has a drink in hand at all times, as well as grin and often a flirtatious comment for anyone he happens to pass by.

It's far from his first formal gathering, but it's been a long time since he's been to one where he wasn't there to cut some kind of deal with some client who had more money and influence than he knew what to do with. As such, he's going to be buzzing around the ballroom for the majority of the evening and making every effort to enjoy himself, until the place empties out or get gets a little too drunk to trust himself to make a reasonably good impression: whichever comes first.]

Hawke does not do parties. She's not really sure why, but she gets the vague feeling that bad things happen. Given Thedas' history, she's not that surprised. Regardless, she's mostly here for appearance's sake, and with a 19 disguise she does pretty well at the whole good appearances thing. She's the Champion of Kirkwall -- or was before she left and kinda ditched that title; she can do this.

For once, her dog has been left in her room and Hawke is here by herself, where she intends to play the part and figure out more of these people, catch up with the ones she's already met, and maybe get something out of this night. If someone looks available for a chat, she might happen to walk up, saying in a voice that's obviously joking with an air of easing tension and starting a conversation, "So how would you rate this?"

[ Despite the many oddities this world presents, Solas is unsurprised to find that celebrating is a universal understanding, no matter what time or realm he happens to be in. The clothing is much stranger here than he's used to, but with a little rummaging he manages to come up with an outfit resembling the robes he's most comfortable with. (Disguise 18)

He spends much of the evening watching the people assembled, taking in everything from the conversations to the mannerism to the music. While thoughtfully fascinated by the scene, he's friendly and willing to converse with anyone that wanders up to him. ]

[ He feels odd to be here. Not because of what this place, but because Scott's spent so much time on his own that this feels foreign to him. The people. The drinks. The food. It all just seems odd. Like it's too much. He thought about dressing down, but when you have a friend like Lydia Martin it's pretty much impossible to get away with that. She may not have dressed him, but what she'd say if he showed up in anything less was enough fear. So he's moderately fancy (disguise 19). People should be happy he hasn't ditched the tie after a bit of time. His suit jacket is slung over a chair somewhere. He's checked his watch about four hundred times while waiting for Allison.

When he isn't with Allison though he's probably having a drink or maybe he's just tried to escape outside to have some air. You can put the wolf in nice clothes, but you can't shut him up inside for too long. ]

[ The ceremony didn't go great, but at least he gets to take off the armor now. That's something. He breathes a little easier with that stuff off the minute he gets into the room. Maybe he's not dressed exactly right, but if you've met Smith then it just seems to suit him (nat 20 disguise check ~~ohwell~~). No frills. Nothing to really make him look like he's supposed to actually be here. He's a tiny bit upset that he didn't wear his guns tonight, but he gets the feeling that'd give off the wrong impression. That doesn't mean he doesn't have some hidden weaponry. Just nothing obvious. Right now. He tried. Some. He trimmed his beard a bit. ]

Risa is literally here entirely for appearances. Only because she has to be here. The people are making her uncomfortable. Extremely so, actually. All she wants is to go back to her room and just be alone. Maybe that's why she looks more sinister than usual (disguise 5). There's probably a streak of make-up where it shouldn't be and her hair is pulled up into some weird thing.

But hey. She's here.

She's being a wallflower, though, staying by the edges and not really doing much. She looks mildly uncomfortable (will save 13), so clearly everyone should go bother her, especially since she didn't do too well at the actual ceremony. Eventually, she's going to look for a way out, so stopping her before she can leave is also an option.

Basically just bother her.

[Taradiddle doesn't always come to these shindigs, but she has her very own bonafide squire now, so she supposes she ought to. As always, she can mostly be found by the food table, either eating or pilfering food into a napkin for later. She hasn't bothered gussying up too much, but she looks pretty cute anyway (disguise 12).]

Despite having an actual date to be on while she's here, Allison can still be found being social and saying hello to people. She doesn't always make it to these events, but considering that she managed to find something she liked to wear, she figured she might as well enjoy the evening.

She separates from Scott more than a few times through out the night. Each time having full intentions of circling back around to find him once again, but ensuring that she also gets to say hello to people that she doesn't usually see. She knows a few are heading off to missions soon and she'd like to make sure to say something before they head off for their travels.
