open ♔ socialization log

WHO || Everyone! [ota]
WHAT || Shenanigans.  THIS IS MOSTLY AN OVERFLOW POST for the last social log whoops

WHERE || Anywhere in the castle, surrounding environs, London, Andres, etc!
WHEN || Any time in May/June
HOW || Actionspam

[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. You can also specify 'single thread', meaning you want only one response for all participants, rather than multi-thread, where a number of different scenes/threads can be done as replies to the top prompt.]

Is that because, like all those trashy sci-fi movies tell us, the future is undetermined and always in flux? So there's really no way of predicting what's going to happen, just that something is and who it's going to happen with.

[ The shift doesn't catch her attention, no matter how astute it is. (Sense Motive 22) ]

Gotta say, this place gets more and more interesting.

Something like that. The future itself can be effected by a thousand different things, some of them seemingly insignificant, making it impossible to predict-- but there are certainly possibilities to be seen, and sometimes it takes someone who can see past what you're willing to admit to yourself to help set you on the right path.

[It's like having a mystical therapist.]

It does, doesn't it? I think it's growing on me.

[ Wow. That just hits really close to home for her. She's been playing nonchalant and unaffected up until now. Until her eyes drop to glance away from a moment. ]

Places can do that.

[Oh, he sees that shift.]

Did I hit a button, kitten?

[The concern is genuine, really.]

[ She squares her shoulders again, looking at him. ]

Insignificant, impossible variables frustrate me. I like to know what's going to happen.

Nobody can know that, not exactly. Even if someone can paint most of a picture of the future for you-- you always have the power to change it. That's the beauty of free will.

[Unpredictable, sure, but there are some things that are more important than having everything mapped out to the last detail.]

[personal profile] uncareful 2016-06-23 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You really go in for that? Free will, no destiny, no grand plan?
highnotes: (10)

[personal profile] highnotes 2016-06-28 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I certainly believe in destiny-- but I also believe that nothing is an absolute. We have the power to influence our destinies, even if it's just a little bit.

So, there is some free will, but within a greater framework of things?

[ She takes a moment to let that settle. ]

I guess it's better than being completely fucked.

I'd say that's an accurate summary, yes.

[He offers a sympathetic smile, followed by a shrug.]

Life is what you make of it, honeybunch. It's all about perspective.

Now, that I can drink to. And I have missed some living.

Looking to make up for lost time, then?

[It's said with genuine interest, as well as a very clear note of approval.]

Just a little. A smidgen.

[ If she could wipe out the last few years of her life, she would. It's something that she vaguely envied of people coming through the Veil, the memory loss. ]

But that was then, this is now.

The very best thing about the present is how easy it is to seize and do what you will with it.

[So many people are looking for ways to leave the past behind them, and that's not a bad thing in the least.]

Carpe diem, yeah? And aren't we all here to make the most of it?
highnotes: (10)

[personal profile] highnotes 2016-07-07 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ideally, yes. There are always some who aren't quite sure of themselves yet in that respect, but I think in the end, you're right.

I was just telling someone that no one ever fits in. It's the beauty of life.

[personal profile] highnotes 2016-07-10 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
If everyone did fit in that easily, things would be awfully dull, don't you think? Variety being the spice of life, as it is.

Preaching, choir. Honestly, I could have used you as backup with Kansas.

Kansas?

[He quirks a brow. Do tell.]

Tall, dark hair, blue eyes, broad shoulders? [ She thinks for a moment. ] I think he said his name is Clark or something. But Kansas is incredibly fitting.

Vaguely rings a bell. I'm still getting to know all of the names and faces around here.

[He can, however, conjure up a mental image well enough.]

Tell me about it. Sometimes I feel like busting out a Polaroid camera and snapping photos. Writing their names on 'em in sharpie.

Not a bad idea, all things considered. Use 'em like flashcards.

Right? See, it's such a relief knowing someone else thinks like I do.
