[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.

Lois & Clark: the new adventures of...wait

[The idea of running across an ocean with his dog in his arms makes Clark slightly uneasy, so he opts to use the Knights' resources and fly home.

Home. Smallville. Wow, it's been awhile.

Sure, he comes back every now and then to check on things- making sure that Lois hasn't forgotten that he shouldered her with the responsibility to keep an eye on the dog when his mom gets too busy (waves hands at how Shelby has been taken care of... Shhh...) But this is the first trip that he's here for an overnight. He doesn't have to stay that long, of course, but part of him wants to. He's a little homesick.

Opening the door to his childhood home, Clark can't help but smile. The afternoon sun filters in from the kitchen windows, and in the distance he can hear trotting footsteps from upstairs. Down comes Shelby, rushing towards him like I THOUGHT YOU WERE NEVER COMING BACK. Clark kneels down to embrace the pup. It's all head scratches, face licks, and tail wags now, folks.]

[ lois was in the other room, but when she hears shelby running she starts in, saying: ] What have I told you about running in the -- [ and comes to a dead stop in the doorway, staring at clark as the dog slobbers all over him. words fail her for a half a second - an unusual event in itself, as she finds herself feeling a rush of warmth at the sight of him.

getting sentimental, aren't you, lane? she thinks to herself, before folding her arms and saying: ] Well, well.

Looks like someone finally remembered us little people, eh Shel?

[He glances up when he hears her, face still lit up like a Christmas tree from the glee of spending time with his number one pup.]

Lois, hey! [He slowly extracts himself from the slobber attack and gives Shelby one more head scratch before standing up and beaming at her.]

How have you been?

Ohhh, you know. A reporter's work is never done. But what about you? I imagine you've got some stories to tell.

[clarkfuckingkent]

Not really. [He manages to sound fairly convincing (bluff 16). Apparently he can only lie... to her.]

Lex runs a pretty tight ship. It's been hard to find anything out, really. But we're trying.

[Clark how long do you think that excuse is going to hold water...]

I found a job, though. Since I don't know how long I'll be out there, it made sense. Guy's gotta eat, right?

Is that really what you're going with? As far as I've seen, no one's made a move against Lex since you left with the shady crew.

They aren't shady, Lois. They're helping me. They're good people.

[I mean none of that is a lie tho.]

Yeah, but like you said... Lex has been quiet. Hard to give you headlines if we can't dig anything up just yet...

[That's a thin argument at best.]

I've been doing my own looking into Lex. And Reeves Dam.

[He tilts his head a bit.]

What's going on at the dam?

Wes? Project Ares? [ it might have been awhile ago for everyone else, but lois hasn't let it go. ] The land near the Dam? Was purchased by an "LL". You really think that was a coincidence?

[clarkfuckingkent]

[Look, a castle sort of fell down and there were metal dragons and he's had a lot on his mind.]

No, it's probably not a coincidence. [But I mean, a lot of people have those initials around here, if you think about it.... wtf Kansas.]

Any leads?

I sort of got kicked out of Luthorcorp while I was looking.

[He isn't surprised at all. But still, he gives her a look that's a mix of concern and exasperation.]

What happened?

Lex. He caught me himself and had me... escorted out.

[clarkfuckingkent]

Did he hurt you? [instantly more worried!!! and super serious.]

It was all bluster, Smallville, nothing you need to worry about.

[He doesn't look entirely convinced... But he'll leave it alone for now.]

I was thinking about taking Shelby back with me for a bit. There are a lot of great parks out there, and it's not fair for me to keep asking you to be on dog duty all the time.

she's surprised by how much her heart sinks at that. it's been almost nice, coming out to visit the old farm, and more than that... ] Does that mean you're planning on this relocation being a little more... permanent?

No. [He pauses] Maybe. [He shakes his head.] I don't know.

[He's so good at this.]

I guess I just got a little homesick.

Well, that's only gonna get worse if you lose your one excuse to visit.

I would have thought you'd be happy to have the responsibility taken off your plate.
