after-party ♔ july

Jeux d'eau - Ravel

WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || July 1st, 2016, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam

The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Dipper is much more of a chill and observe sort of guy himself, so while Mabel's tearing up the dance floor he's hanging out with a plate of mini quiches and trying not to look too bored or like he wishes he'd brought a book. Which he does. Very much so. The only thing that's keeping him from heading out early is the fact that his sister's here and he doesn't want to leave her alone. They have each others' backs. Always. Sure, nothing's probably going to happen at this party, but they're both a lot more comfortable with each other in sight.

Eventually, boredom overcomes broodiness and he decides that just maybe he should try actually talking to someone, and the people who aren't dancing seem like the safest bet. He takes a deep breath and moves over to one of the other people who got squired with him. He musters up a smile that looks a little uncomfortable (charisma 7) and nods at her.]

I'm glad the whole armor thing is just for ceremonies. That stuff hasn't been practical since the middle ages. I mean, besides at renfaires, I guess.

[ The amount of times Cassie's thought 'nothing should happen', shit seems to hit the fan. One of the reasons she'd opted for avoiding the dance floor, besides the fact that she wasn't big on dancing. At least, not on her own.

She meets his somewhat uncomfortable smile with one that's warm and surprisingly relaxed (char 15), considering what's going on. She remembers him, mostly for his sword comment, popping a cocktail shrimp into her mouth as she nods. ]

Yeah, also glad we don't have to use swords. I suck with those... Like really badly. [ Because no matter how hard Pritkin and Eugenie had tried, she was still barely able succeed at not dying. ]

I did pretty good at boffering that one time. [...this is probably one of those excessively nerdy things Mabel wanted him to keep out of his first impressions. Whoops. On the other hand, if she knows what boffering is, she's too nerdy to judge him.]

But, uh, yeah. Swords are not a good thing to fight with if you suck at them. Kinda dangerous.

[ Ok that threw her for a bit of a loop. The casino held conventions, sure... But not really anything blatantly LARP related. So, she's just gonna look at him blankly for a long moment. ] Boffering? Nevermind, I can guess. [ No, no she can't.

There's a shrug at the whole dangerous thing, very aware that not everyone shared her background. ]
My nanny was pretty insistent that I learned and then once shit hit the fan back home my... uh, my-- [ Bodyguard? Warmage? Friend? All around pain in her ass? ] Pritkin insisted I keep training just in case. No matter how much I argued because seriously, who uses swords anymore?

[ Of course, she wasn't always in her own time - but, details. ]

Some of the people here, apparently. [He glances around the room.] Some of them even ride horses still.

I prefer something a little less conspicuous personally.
ghostmagnet: (With just words and just music)

Horses, really? That's so old school and impractical. I mean, less dangerous than ley lines or whatever... But, no thanks.

[ Some forms of travel definitely didn't need wards or barriers, but just because they were faster didn't really make them the most practical. ] I'm definitely more of a car girl, myself. Horses poop too much anyways.

I'm looking forward to becoming a private jet guy, personally. Have you seen the stuff this place has?
ghostmagnet: (I need your grace)

[personal profile] ghostmagnet 2016-09-17 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I kinda grew up around this kind of stuff. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

[ Ok, private jets were definitely cool. She'll give him that. ]
lowvi: (imma get a scholarship)

[Dipper shrugs a shoulder and tries not to look too uncomfortable.]

Sure seems nice from having not grown up around it.

Sorry, my life back home that revolved around this rather than homeless shelters was actively trying to kill me. So, I tend to take it with a grain of salt.

[ A beat. ]

But, this already seems different. I think you should enjoy a private jet ride and make sure to eat fancy shrimp and caviar.
