Mars took more than a couple days before sending a message to his new squire. He had busied himself with other things and lost track of time. He was waiting in the Garden to meet him at first. Venus was chasing insects around while Mars was sitting on a bench reading while he waited for the other. He wasn't off to a good start at being a mentor in his own opinion but that didnt mean he would give up.

The cat was nuzzling away still expecting more regardless. She was selfish like that. Utterly spoiled by her pet human. Mars remained standing while he listed to the other nodding here and there.

He smiled at a bit when Cisco said he was one. "It sounds like an amazing thing if you ask me. I kinda understand." He added. "It's never easy going from being normal to special. Namely in a place where people have prejudices against people who are different. I hope you didn't have to deal with stuff like that. Though, You must be a genius to do all of that. It's amazing. Like something out of a H.G. Wells novel."

A question sparked inside of him and instead of holding back he just decided to ask. "Are you going to try to build one of those here?"

Sitting as he is, it's easier to reach Venus, so he relents and gives her another pet. Damn that cat.

"It's very sci-fi, for sure. And it's not so much that there are prejudices against it, as it is just that... Well, it's unexpected, and the majority of the people who've turned out to be metas have all been criminals. People don't know how to react, except to be scared." When superpowered criminals attach your city, you're right to be afraid.

He looks up at the question, frowning slightly. "Another particle accelerator? Probably not. I'd need a bigger team to do it, and there isn't really a point to it." It was never his project to spearhead, anyways. It was Doctor Wells' baby.

She rewards the good behavior with a purr. She likes this human.

"Did this happen in a bad side of town or something?" He asked curiously, shifting to just sit down on the ground to listen to the other explain. "Understandably, thats only natural."

"I was just curious, I'm not really good with science and stuff but I've always been intrested. I grew up on Bill Nye and Beakman's World." Likely not something to say to a legit scientist but, eh. Mars is an optimist.

The purring is just evil. It's a trick to get him to pet her more, so she'll purr more. He sees what you're up to, cat.

"Kind of? But mostly we just have bad luck, I think." Aside from a few, like Firestorm, or Plastique, the metas have been mostly rogues.

He laughs at the 90s kids TV references. "Dude, why do you think I became a scientist? Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill." He even does the dorky voice.

The cat thinks shes very smart, and will keep putting and snuggling his leg till she gets more tribute.

"I guess that would make sense." He gave a nod. Then laughed when Cicso did the dorky voice and held his hand out for a high five. "Oh hell yes, were going to get along JUST fine!"

He tries to hold out but that snuggling is just too much. Have some more scritches, you dastardly feline.

High fives are go! "So what kind of stuff does a squire-knight relationship entail? I don't have to like, clean up after you or anything, do I?"

Victory for Zim Venus. She purrs more.

"Oh not much really, my knight rarely spoke to me outside of parties and random meetings. Just think of me as more of a friend who can explain stuff. No, you dont need to clean up after me, I have spells that do that anyway." he replied with a grin.

"Right," Cisco says, rubbing his hands on his thighs. "About those spells. You were going to give me a demonstration?"

He's still somewhat skeptical that magic is even real, and the whole shadow-kind thing isn't just metahuman activity gone beserk.

"I was waiting to see if you brought it up." He admitted with a grin as he bounced once before taking two long strides backwards from Cisco. He lifted both hands up, and cast Burning Hands. Semi-circles around his hands going as high as ten feet started to burn flickering in and out as he moved his hand around.

"Everyone like's fire right?" He liked to show off even if he knew he shouldn't.

Okay, that's... definitely real fire. Even from here, Cisco can feel the heat of it. And it just appeared. But this isn't too different from what Firestorm can do. Cisco's still not convinced it's magic.

"Fire's good, but I've seen it before. What else you got?"

Mars took a step back, more like two more strides. "This one I'm still learning to control" He lifted his hands up and casted Shocking Grasp, sending lightning from his fingers. VERY careful not to burn any of Vee's flowers. It clearly took more concentration for the tall mage. He moved his hands down then and muttered something low as mist started to form around him and the eletricity stopped.

Okay, fire, electricity, and now mist. Cisco's a little more impressed. Still not totally convinced it's magic and not just a metahuman with elemental abilities. But he doesn't feel like arguing.

"Impressive. So is it all about summoning various elements?"
