The plan has been set, and the Knights are on their way to New York City once again - this time with the desperate hope fueling them that they can save two of their own, instead of simply endangering them further.  Jack and Buffy have greater stakes in this than anyone - as it is Jack's fiancee, Gar and the love of Buffy's life, Rafael, who are currently in the grip of the vile villains that have plagued them for the last four years.  Knowing fully well the risks that are inherent in potentially facing down the dangerous Mind Master, who shattered Myri's life in an instant by breaking Finnick Odair's psyche, their plan is to divide and search the warehouse as quickly as possible - knowing that every second counts, when an alerted team of bad guys could take the lives of their captured friends.  

It's an unparalleled gamble, but may be their only opportunity before Rafael and/or Gar are moved from the facility.  To that end, they converge at a nearby hotel...

[ once everyone is gathered in the hotel, jack calls them together for a quick meeting. he's more solemn than usual, but completely collected as he lays out some blueprints on the table. ] We've managed to pull these from old city files, with Sir Samcelot's assistance. They are, however, nearly half a decade old, and it's possible there have been renovations since. I'm afraid we're working without any navigable duct system, etc. We believe that if they are here, they're either being held in the basement, the center of the building, or on the top floor.

Hence the fanning out. [ Buffy nods as though to assert her approval of that estimation. ] So we slam all the options at the same time, and whoever finds them rings the bell for the rest of the team to boogie?

[Felicity leans forward, trying to get a better idea of the lay of the land.]

Are there a lot of buildings close to it, or more wide open spaces?

[She wants to know if they should be worried about people watching the building from the outside. Or reinforcements being held there.]

There are a few industrial buildings in the area, but nothing right on top of it. [ she looks over to buffy ] And yeah. That's basically the plan. If whoever finds them needs back-up, they'll call for it, but everyone else gets out, and keeps an eye out for anybody else who might be incoming.

I prepared a few spells to transport some of us, if need be. [Whether to meet up with others or to get the fuck out. She's here to help.]

[Myri is quiet and reserved for most of the flight, keeping to herself, and looking out the window of the plane. Going after the Mind Master has her in a place of extremely mixed emotion. On one hand, she wants revenge, but on the other, she's terrified of leaving Shayla without a mother.

So she sits and she thinks. And in her hands, she worries at a piece of shoelace, practicing a few simple knots that Finnick taught her back when things made so much more sense.]

[ She knows those knots.

Myri picked up the habit early, but it's still hard not to think about him when she sees them. Buffy sighs as she settles into the seat beside Myri, who's just about one of the only people here she actually wants to have a conversation with right now. Myri understands what she's going through in a way the others don't. ]

You're thinking about him too, huh?

[Spike is, as usual, availing himself of the flight liquor cabinet and wishing desperately for a cigarette. For the most part, he has headphones in as he listens to bands that are definitely screamy and either reading Howl by Allen Ginsberg or sleeping with it on his face. Bother at your own risk.]

[Her hands still when Buffy speaks, the daze she was in broken by the interruption. It isn't unwelcome, though. A weary smile flickers across her features as her fingers curl around the shoelace.]

It's impossible not to sometimes.

[slay]

[ Sometimes, Buffy wonders how much of it was Finnick and how much of it was the Mind Master; had there been something there that she just brought out? Other times, she wonders if he can come back from it—if once they take her down, it'll break some kind of lasting spell that's just lingering over him. She likes those thoughts better.

She turns away from Myri to stare down the aisle, shifting in her seat as she realizes the well of conversation can only darken from here. ]

I hate knowing she's still out there.

[ the book is plucked off his face, the sudden light probably waking him easily as dumage turns it over to examine the cover ] And what is this, exactly?

[witchwoman]

[Her hands clench the shoelace a little tighter at the mention of her.]

I do too. I don't know if I'll ever feel safe until I know she's no longer a threat.

[For Myri, the Mind Master is the ultimate threat. It would be near impossible to convince her otherwise.]

[slay]

[ She settles back in her seat, mulling that over. Buffy can't claim disagreement. She can count the number of nights she's slept peacefully in the past two years on one hand. They all happened in Italy. ]

If she's there, I won't run. [ Her voice is low, as though hoping to hide this fact from the others, given their prior understanding in the round table room. ] We need to be rid of her. Of all of them. [ She turns to look at Myri, expression intent. ] All that running away she does makes me think she couldn't take a punch, if I could just land one.

[ He knows there's too much at stake here. Too many variables and moving parts. It makes him uneasy. He oddly enough has no problem with Wynn approves lethal force. The only reason he had a problem before was that they had no way of knowing if the men they took out were just doing their jobs. This is different. These are evil people doing evil things. He's taken a lot of lives in the war. He just has to remember what he's fighting for.

It Steve isn't asleep then he's back to doing the one thing that keeps his mind at peace. He's sketching something or someone with his shield at his feet. ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri glances at Buffy, then over her shoulder at the rows of seats behind them, looking almost guilty. Slowly, she turns back forward and leans towards Buffy, keeping her voice low.]

I prepared the same spell as I did at the wedding. The one that should keep her from being able to escape.

[slay]

[ She looks surprised, but she nods after a moment, accepting this.

She can't get Rafael out and fight the Mind Master. But Myri can make both happen. ]

If she's there, you can lock her in place and teleport Rafael and Gar out. The rest of us could take it from there. [ She expects—hopes, really—that they won't. That most of them will run like they said they would. Spike, though, he'd stay, and in a lot of ways, she's still got the feeling that when it comes to heavy lifting, he's the only help she needs. ]

[It makes her nervous. Leaving all of her friends there without her, leaving them vulnerable to being hurt without her magic there to protect them.

But she knows that it's a better plan than most to achieve all of their goals.]

Rafael won't go quietly. He won't want to leave you in danger.

[bigbad]

[He squints up at her, blinking himself awake.]

...a book?

[Felicity would normally try to claim a pair of seats for herself for a long flight like this, but those pre-mission nerves are also prominent today and since Vi isn't here to help diffuse some of it, that's going to get transferred to Steve instead.

Sorry, Steve. Or you're welcome? Depends how you're feeling.]

[Restless energy doesn't really do Felicity any good, so eventually she'll get up to wander the cabin for a drink, passing Myri's seat as she does. When she sees the knots in hand, she wonders if she should say anything, knowing how close to home this all is for her, but she also figures if nothing else, Myri can tell her to go away and she won't take it personally.

So she makes her way closer and gives her a small smile.]

Or it will help her get to us if we need her.

[So not as useless as Dumage seems to imply, but still - it's got a limited range of efficacy so hopefully she won't have to burn through them too quickly.]

We should try and keep an eye on those buildings anyway. They might be keeping reinforcements close. Or snipers.

[It's what she would do if she were using high value targets to bait a trap.]

[Myri manages a little smile when she glances up at Felicity.]
