The plan has been set, and the Knights are on their way to New York City once again - this time with the desperate hope fueling them that they can save two of their own, instead of simply endangering them further.  Jack and Buffy have greater stakes in this than anyone - as it is Jack's fiancee, Gar and the love of Buffy's life, Rafael, who are currently in the grip of the vile villains that have plagued them for the last four years.  Knowing fully well the risks that are inherent in potentially facing down the dangerous Mind Master, who shattered Myri's life in an instant by breaking Finnick Odair's psyche, their plan is to divide and search the warehouse as quickly as possible - knowing that every second counts, when an alerted team of bad guys could take the lives of their captured friends.  

It's an unparalleled gamble, but may be their only opportunity before Rafael and/or Gar are moved from the facility.  To that end, they converge at a nearby hotel...

[Spike is, as usual, availing himself of the flight liquor cabinet and wishing desperately for a cigarette. For the most part, he has headphones in as he listens to bands that are definitely screamy and either reading Howl by Allen Ginsberg or sleeping with it on his face. Bother at your own risk.]

[ the book is plucked off his face, the sudden light probably waking him easily as dumage turns it over to examine the cover ] And what is this, exactly?

[bigbad]

[He squints up at her, blinking himself awake.]

...a book?

Trying to distract yourself from the inevitable, darling?

[bigbad]

And what's so inevitable this time around?

[He stretches, sliding up in his seat.]

[postergirl]

One of ours not coming out of this all there - whether physically or otherwise.

[bigbad]

I wouldn't call that inevitable. Likely, perhaps, but not inevitable. We are pretty bloody tough.

[postergirl]

Physically, maybe some of us. Mentally? [ she glances around ] Well. I wouldn't call us the most stable bunch all round.

[bigbad]

[He musters up a smirk, tilting his head to the side.] Look on the bright side, love. Not having much there means there's not much to lose.

[....that's... bright... right?]

[postergirl]

[ her eyes skid back over towards his face, lingering there for just a moment too long ] There's always something to lose.

[bigbad]

[He meets her eyes, then glances away.]

Suppose you're right. We can try and minimize the damage, at least.

[postergirl]

You won't do anything too foolish, I hope.

[bigbad]

Me? Do something foolish? When has that ever happened?

[littledhampir]

[There is absolutely nothing about the way Spike is sitting that suggests he wants to be bothered right now and while Rose usually ignores all those visual cues, she doesn't immediately go over to bother him. Keeping to her own corner while throwing the occasional look in his direction as the hours tick by.

It's more than half the flight before she finally moves over and takes up the seat next to him. No words. Just a hand extended, holding out a couple of bottles that she'd snagged from the liquor cabinet on the plane.]

[bigbad]

[He eyes her for a moment, then takes the bottles.]

...lot more of these available with Archer and Finnick gone.

[littledhampir]

[A dry huff of a chuckle passes her lips, not quite reaching her eyes.]

Wonder what the Castle bars are looking like right now, then.

[bigbad]

Be a bloody welcome sight around now. [He's coping very well with the stress of the current situation, clearly. He raises the bottle.] Cheers, love.

[littledhampir]

[Her gaze moves around the plane, Rose's lips pressed into a grim line but when she looks to Spike again. She tries to offer him something that resembles a smile.]

We'll be alright. We've got a good group. [Holding his gaze for a long beat before raising the small bottle she'd kept for herself.] Cheers.

[bigbad]

[He clinks his bottle against hers, giving a half smile back.]

Cheers, love. No one I'd rather have on my side.

[littledhampir]

[Her smile shifts, finally reaching her eyes as they hold his gaze.]

Right back at you. [Tipping the bottle up and draining it in one go. More relaxed now, as if the drink was all she needed to take the edge off.]

I can never decide if it's a good or bad thing that they make these so small.

[bigbad]

For someone with a vampire constitution? I'm going to go with bad. There's not enough to be even remotely worth it.

[Which doesn't stop him from drinking it. Just means he complains while he does it.]

[littledhampir]

Probably not the worst thing given what we're about to do.

[Then again? She may not be Spike but she could probably drink the plane dry and still be sober enough to be sharp for the mission. Just high fort save problems.]

Be hard to be worst than my last visit to New York at least. [Remember your first mission with Rose, Spike? Yeah... yeah.]

Why would you go and say something like that? You know the universe likes buggering us over.

[..] Yeah it was supposed to be a comforting thought but I regretted it the second it came out of my mouth.

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head, giving her a half smile.] Don't worry, love, I've already prepared for the worst. I'll be far more surprised if anything goes right.
