The journey to discovering the truth behind the Homo Magi and the curse laid upon their people, in hopes of breaking the spell that has caused the sorceress Amara to obsess over David Charming for years, has been a long and winding road.  It last led them underwater, to the lost city of Atlantis, once the home of the Homo Magi, where they discovered that the cursed had been laid upon them by Poseidon himself, when one of their kind shared the sacred secrets of Mystra with a mortal who they fell in love with.  This led to a falling out between Mystra and Poseidon, and he cursed the Magi to keep them from ever contacting humanity again.  This curse was said to be unbreakable, until the sea god was appeased, but Lila's protests led to a punishment which Emma Swan took in her place - rendering her a kelpie by night until she earned the respect of Mystra.  This curse would later lead her to kill Killian in the madness of the castle attack.  Zatanna claimed to know someone who could undermine a god's curse, and to that end searched high and low for the mysterious John Constantine, who she has brought to the castle.  

At last, he has gathered them here for a seance of sorts, and they find the room cloaked in candles and drapery, various strange figurines and tiny fetishes scattered about.

[David arrives promptly, as per usual, walking in and talking in the ambience of the room with a wary eye. As much as these missions have been shrouded in magic and he knows that magic itself depends on the user, he still isn't completely comfortable with it.

He probably never will be.

All the same, he glances to Constantine, looking for a cue as to what he needs him to do.]

Should we sit or stand anywhere?

Take a seat, squire. I didn't just invite you lot to play the voyeur.

[Snow has a cautious look around as she has a seat.]

What part are we going to play in this? What do you need us to do?

[Still not going to correct him on how he's not a squire. He's just going to nod his agreement and takes a seat next to Snow, waiting for Constantine to answer the question at hand.]

Hold hands and channel the spirits, perhaps? [Gold follows Snow's lead, pulling up a chair. He's the last person to be sardonic about the mystical arts, but...] It looks like you're putting on quite a spectacle here, Mr. Constantine.

The only thing that gets a god's attention, spectacle. [ it's played off as a cheeky joke but ??? ]

[ zatanna enters then, amara in tow. the homo magi looks around in some confusion, and not a little suspicion, and zatanna raises her eyebrows at those present, as if in a bit of a warning to be careful what they say. behind them enters giovanni zatara, zatanna's father, who many of them have not seen in years ]

Your old man here to help, luv? [ he asks, raising an eyebrow at zee ]

Her old man heard about certain extracurricular activities you'd be roping his daughter into. You'll forgive me for wanting to supervise. [ zatanna looks ready to groan, her eyes rolling, but constantine looks amused as fk, and turns half away from zatara to where david sits, mouthing the words "tantric studies" at him with some apparent glee ]

[ the tiny psuedodragon skitters in before lila does, tucking her phone in her pocket. ]

It looks like my Baba's closet died in here.

[THINGS DAVID DID NOT NEED TO KNOW, CONSTANTINE.

He's going to ... awkwardly clear his throat before turning his attention back to Amara, starting to get up to move over one seat before realizing that will put her ... right next to Snow and that's probably a bad idea.

So she can sit on the other side of him if he wants.]

I'm still waiting to hear what those extracurricular activities are.

[ Emma walks in and says this like she's been here the whole time but I mean who knows because kelpie right. ]

[Hook walks in after Emma and gives her a solemn nod.]

[Then looks at everyone else and the candles and just. Raises his eyebrows.]

[ no david, lila is sitting next to you, deal with it. which she goes to do, perching on the chair next to his while snowflake curls up under her to take a nap. ]

Magically undermining the divine. [ that sure is what zee said... like two years ago. look. that day is still real clear in lila's mind. ]

[ amara tentatively takes the sheet next to lila, and constantine gestures for emma and hook to sit beside gold. one of them, at least. the other gets to sit by zatanna's dad. choose wisely. ]

To what purpose?

[DIBS ON NOT SITTING NEXT TO GOLD hi Zatanna's dad have a handsome pirate.]

Because it's generally the right thing to do?

[DAVID DOESN'T WANT TO JINX THINGS. So he's not going to explicitly say "we're gonna break some curses."]

[ john is just gonna take that as his cue to start, rolling up his sleeves to the elbow ] Ladies and gentleman, if you could all join hands, I'm going to require a great deal of focus from the lot of you. [ he pulls out a small clay horse statue and places it in the center of the table amid some dried petals. ] Some of you know a bit of magic yourselves, some of you don't. The latter are important enough, because this spell is going to need a bit of a grounding wire, and that's where you come in.

So we're meant to be channeling our magic into this? [hi emma you get to hold hands with Gold.]

[generaldavideus]

[David doesn't have any magic, so that question isn't really relevant to him, but he does look slightly nervous about being a "grounding wire" whatever that means.

Regardless, he swallows hard and holds out a hand to Lila and Snow respectively.]

[ here is the seating chart btw for posterity. zatanna takes her dad's hand and gives john a side-eye before taking his. ] He's going to do an incantation. It's... a different kind of spell, that even those who don't practice can contribute their energy to. The more, the merrier, so to speak.

[Here to go, Mr. Gold. You get to hold hands with Emma's mother too.

She reaches out to take both his and David's hand, doing her part to complete the circle.]

Take as much as you need.

[Just gonna speak for everyone, it's fine.]

We can all take nice long naps afterward if need be.

[ lila takes david's hand easily enough, holding out her hand for amara. ]

[ Emma side-eyes Gold but begrudgingly takes his hand in hers. It's a matter of necessity, and she can accept that it's a professional thing.

But Hook ...

She stares him down, realizes this will be uncomfortable for PERSONAL, not "I think you're evil" reasons, and reaches out more gingerly to offer him hers. Like she doesn't think she has the right anymore to just go for it. ]

[ giovanni has no such emotional hang-ups. he's just gonna take hook's hand. ]
