Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

Library

There are things Derek wants to know more about and Hellsing is totally one of those things. Which is why he is in the library trying to look through any of the books on the history of the order that talked about Hellsing in them. He needed more information and didn't want to just walk around the castle asking about it. Which would lead to him being bent over a table with a book, surrounded by other books and totally phased out of the real world happening around him.

It may also help him deal with knowing people had died. Derek hated that feeling, especially knowing some of the deceased. He could do something and that would give him the feeling he was doing something to help.


Backyard

When he is finally able to get himself out of the library, he needed to get some fresh air. Being confined wasn't something good to do to a werewolf, after all. So he will walk through the halls and outside to find a place to sit and just stare up at the stars. Derek is debating on what is the right thing to do here with what he knows, but at the same time, he doesn't know enough to know if he should tell others about it.

And Derek can't help but feel that Hasmed's words were aimed in part at him. Not that Derek would betray the knights ever, but he had his doubts on things and this situation wasn't helping ease any of them.


Cora

[and somewhere during the evening, he is going to text his sister because he does need to talk to someone] Where are you?

[impetere]

[It takes a moment, but eventually she responds back.]

My room. Why?

[grumpypuppy]

I heard about Abigail. I wanted to check on you, plus I need to talk to you if you are okay to talk.

[impetere]

[She's not really okay to talk, but if he has any more bad news she'd rather here it now than drag it out.]

Yeah, sure. Come up whenever.

[grumpypuppy]

[ and well, this is Derek. The next thing she hears from him is him knocking on the door ]

[She doesn't even bother to get up, because she's just going to assume it's Derek.]

It's open!

[and he will slip in, closing the door behind him and, after debating a moment, locking her door. Because people might walk in]

How are you doing?

[because making sure she is okay before the bad-er news]

[Her eyebrows go up at him locking her in, her back straightening because this doesn't feel like a casual conversation with her brother checking on her.]

What's wrong? Other than the obvious.

[How she's doing can wait, honestly.]

What do you know about Hellsing?

[because let's just get straight to the point then]

They're hunters.

[That's pretty much the easiest way to sum it up and now she's really on edge.]

Why do you want to know about Hellsing?

[grumpypuppy]

I want to know how dangerous it is for them to be here.

[impetere]

Well, they're hunters. So I'd say it's pretty damn dangerous for them to be here.

[She takes a deep breath before calming down and trying to relay actual facts.]

My first full moon here was bad. I didn't have control so I hid out in an abandoned factory where no one was around to ride it out so I wouldn't hurt anyone. Hellsing didn't care - they came after me anyway, and if the Knights hadn't found me, they probably would have killed me.

If that's so, why would the Knights ask for their help?

[ belle is in the library as well, trying to run the counter as she does, when she takes notice of derek's search ] Is there anything I can help you with?

[he turns to look at Belle and there will be a small smile]

I'm trying to educate myself on some of the history of the knighthood. I didn't really get a chance to do that before now, and I have a feeling I will need to know some things that others may not think to share.

What kind of ... things are you interested in? I know where to find quite a few books on our history.

[grumpypuppy]

I'm actually... looking for anything about the history and workings of Hellsing.

[totally research purposes]

I'm not sure how much you'll find about that in the history of the Knighthood... Are you looking specifically for information about why Hellsing and the Knighthood have been historically at odds?

[grumpypuppy]

[nods] That would be a good place to start, yes.

[untethered]

I think it might have more to do with the nature of our approach to the same sort of work... Wynn has historically taken a more empathetic view than Hellsing has towards... the unnatural.

[grumpypuppy]

And how does Hellsing approach it?

[untethered]

Generally? That there are things in this world that are just evil. And they need to be stopped, violently.

[grumpypuppy]

And what is their definition of evil?

[untethered]

Hurting people, or endangering them in some way. When they came after Cora, it was because she was disoriented. Lashing out. They thought she was ... I don't know. Mad. Crazed.

What did they do to my sister?

[his eyes narrow dangerously, big brother protectiveness kicking in. But he manages not to snarl or shift. He has better control than that.]
