chapter five ♔ it'll be a day like this one when the sky falls down

WHO || The Knights
WHAT || Failboat returns from the disaster in LA as the Knighthood goes on lockdown
WHERE || The castle, London
WHEN || Directly after this, Fall 2017
HOW || Actionspam
Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.
The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.
Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.
[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown. Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

maybe she will redirect and pop in the kitchen first. there has to be someone's food in the fridge that isn't labeled. the crew in joburg learned to label everything down to individual salt packets, but most of these people won't know her so it's all fair game. which is how she comes upon someone's day old sushi and is eating that with her hands. heathen. ]
Oh this is good. [ her accent is a little british, a little south african, a little indian, like maybe she took a world tour of the british empire.
after that, and armed with a box of cheez-its and a packet of chocolate biscuits and a tumbler of ice water, she definitely moves to the lab, at least to find out whose room she and ro are stealing while they're hunkered down here. ]

Beatrice? Is that you? [Her tears are long dried by now, but she still looks frayed at the edges, worn down- not that it's all that uncommon of a thing right now.]
no subject
Still with the full name, Helen? Always with the full name?
[ it's said with quiet teasing, small smile touching her features before she moves forward for a hug. always a hug. ]
no subject
I'm an old woman, set in her ways. Besides, it's such a beautiful name. [She pulls back from the hug to get a look at her.]
I take it the both of you are here, then? Safe and sound?
no subject
Yeah, Ro's headed to the Light wing probably, you know how she is.

[ she's gotten the trip from joburg to london down to four hops and a car ride to the castle, but she's usually sleeping during the car ride. she's gained a sixth sense for food. ]
It's not my fault people don't label their things.

...And if you're ever bored, you could do me a favor and check in on someone who is a bit like you. [Teleport friends??] My daughter, Ashley. She's angry with me at the moment, but her ability to teleport is still a rather new development, comparatively.

post-solace announcement }
Bea and Ro are sitting on Bea's bed, watching the entire thing unfold and as it does, her hand comes up to cover her mouth trying to process all of this, all of her friends being turned into an army.
She's not a knight, she knows she doesn't have to stay, but she also doesn't want to leave Bea either.]
Well. That is ...

You couldn't have known. In a lot of ways it's good. I'd rather be here where I can help than worrying about you in Johannesburg.

[Her tone would normally be slightly teasing for something like this, but this is too serious for that. As glib as the statement may be, she's still serious enough.]
This place usually needs all the clerics it can get, and if you're going to go down we're going down together. That's the deal.
no subject
that isn't in her nature, that's why bea loves her. ]
Can you believe Titanic was twenty years ago?
no subject
If only DiCaprio had aged as well as Kate Winslet did.

[ OFF TOPIC, BEATRICE. ]
Are you sure you don't want to go back? I'll marry you, we can have a honeymoon, very far away. Antarctica!

[ because she's distracted, that is. not because the wall was talking shit. ]
How are you... feeling... about all this?
[ hasmed and solace announcing themselves dragon's claws out of the blue, bea and tia joined around the same time, she knows all about the dragon's claw before jack. it feels weird okay. ]

[ actually bea has seen one, but like, she gets around. ]

It's not the result I wanted, but--
[ she sighs, aggravated by all sides of the situation, clearly ] I hope to God we don't have to deal with this long.

bea looks at tia, frown scrunching her face. ] Can you sense him, at all? If I got you to LA.
[ bea's forte is not telepathy. ]
