Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.  

[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown.  Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

[alex is an expert at acting like everything is fine even when it's not. he is not feeling great at all. someone close to him died, and his sweet set-up is feeling less sweet more and more like a prison. so, you know. that's cool. but unlike some knights who can just roll out with their middle fingers in the air like boy bye, he feels slightly more apprehension about leaving.

but he's fine. so fine. his favorite place to anxiously smoke is on the ballroom balcony, so you can currently catch him there chain-smoking like a fiend. or in the kitchen, staring vacantly into the fridge and wondering what food is.]

You keep smoking like that, you're going to turn into a literal chimney.

[And here comes Malina, checking on who's here and being relieved that most familiar faces seem to be accounted for. She makes her way out and pushes herself up onto the railing and sitting comfortably.]

Either that or you're testing the limits of human combustion.

Oh, you're keeping track, huh? [he snorts a laugh before taking another drag. malina can chill with him. she's cool.] Nah, it's whatever. Shit around here has gotten ... awfully tense, you know? It's stressful. Fuck.

[She nods in agreement as she exhales slowly.]

Yeah, I know. It'd be nice if the world would slow down a bit. I'd actually prefer if it ended long after I'm dead.

I always kind of expected to die young in some awful way or another. If the world ends while I'm still alive, I'm gonna be pissed.

[bredinthebone]

[She laughs.]

So you're going to go down in a blaze of glory? That's the plan?

[ambitionist]

No, not exactly. ... Well, maybe. But I've never been that healthy, so I always kind of just looked at it as an eventuality.

[bredinthebone]

Hey, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just not ready for it to be today.

[ambitionist]

Nah, me either. It's sort of like, an inverse, you know? The more I get my shit together, the more everything else around me seems to be falling apart.

[bredinthebone]

[She laughs.]

Sounds like the way of the world, unfortunately. Once things start going well, something's gotta come around to screw it up.

[ambitionist]

Sounds right. [he finishes the cigarette he was working on and gets to lighting another.]

So, you're gonna stick around, I'm guessing?

[She nods a bit.]

This is what I signed up for. This is my life. So if this is how it goes down, then I'm going down with it.

[he hesitates for a moment, but then just goes for it:]

I don't know if I should or not. There's so much that doesn't sit right with me.

what do you do when a place you thought was safe stops being safe?

depends on why i'm there in the first place, i guess.

because of a need for witness protection, mostly. but now we're on total lockdown and wynn's mia. and they have these guys here that are ... i don't know. maybe it's time to split.
