Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

Not personally, but my brother knows about them more than I do. He made it sound like they'd be more interested in a takeover than actual cooperation.

What I do know is that they're hunters, religious fanatics with their own army to boot. They have a vampire on a magical leash that's rumored to be the strongest one out there and he's here as we speak. He already did some of his crazy mojo on the building.

All the more reason the Knights need some real allies.

[ skye takes the long route back out of the castle after her meeting with dovan and coulson. she circles by the computer lab, as promised, and finds sam there occupied at one of the computers. he doesn't look comfortable. impatient — or nervous, maybe.

given the day she's had, she doesn't fuck around with grudges. she just walks up to him and sweeps him directly into a hug. ]

I can't believe what happened in L.A.; you were there, weren't you?

[Sam is a lot of things right now; impatient and nervous are both included in the myriad of emotions running through him since his talk with Rose and Dean. He's barely been out of their sight, but they have to get a few things done before they bail, and he's getting what research he can collect together without raising any alarms.

It isn't much, if he's being honest with himself.

He hadn't really expected to see her after their chat, so when she suddenly appears and is hugging him as if all the crap between them just disappeared, it's easy for him to just return the gesture, his arms tight as they encircle her back.]

[ she inhales sharply like fuck are they okay ??? but no, he would be way worse if they weren't. duh. she draws back to look at his face, affirms that it's an overreaction on her part, and loosens up some.

[ lmao fuck no is she going to be the one to start when he's the one who has his tail between his legs with an apology a'ight. rebuilding trust first. ]

[He glances around slightly before he jerks his head towards the door.]

[ she glances that way, seems to think twice about it — i mean, he is fucking with hell after all. but he was sorry and she was right about everything, so. she starts that way. ]

My room. Yours. It doesn't matter to me as long as it's not where anyone can just walk in.

[He's the one asking her to go somewhere private, so he figures it's better if she picks for comfort's sake.]

There's not a whole lot of people it's safe for me to trust anymore.

[ that makes him one of two people who still trusts her. she'll take it. she takes the lead. ]

My room works. I need to pack, anyway.

[He just nods. He's already packed up.

He heads towards her room since I'll assume he knows...where it is back before he fucked up their friendship, waiting until she opens the door to follow her inside.]

[ she lets him in and shuts the door behind. no one's likely to be here, at least. no one knows what's going on with her. just that she's back and Wrong. yikes. she gets out her duffel bag. it's well-worn. she starts packing her clothes into it. ]

[It's clear he's not even sure where to start beyond that, so he'll go with:]

Did you hear about the traitors? That they were agents of Hell?

[ she takes her time in nodding. stops mid-movement of packing. she hesitates and looks at him. yeah, this is going to be a full attention conversation. ]

I was worried, at first, that you'd been sucked into it. But then ... [ nothing on that subject. ]

I don't know if that was ever the goal. I have my theories, and none of them are good. Maybe she was waiting for me to ask, to want more power. She's already told me how I could get it, I'd just told her no. Maybe she was waiting for the day she needed me to help her with something. Either way, it doesn't matter anymore.

[He sits...somewhere because otherwise he knows he's just gonna pace.]

Those traitors weren't just 'agents'. It was Elena Gilbert, and she's basically that bitch's shiny new step-mom. The other one? Is shacking up with Hell's second-in-command. All while Gayl was playing nice with me.

[He drags a hand through his hair.]

[ it's the bed. the bed is the only option. it's fine. ]

Wait, are you mad that she was hiding it from you?

[ oh my god sam do you just not get it at all. is this apology entirely misplaced. ]

[He looks almost incredulous.]

[He stands up as abruptly as he sat down, walking over to her until there's barely any space between them, and he looks down at her with the expression of a man consumed by guilt.]

I'm mad that I was stupid enough to trust anything she said in the first place. I'm mad that I put my brother in a position where he couldn't tell me what was going on. He was onto Elena and Des the whole time and he had to cut me out because I was part of the problem.

[His voice starts to waver from anger to just stressed; he has all this leftover anger and nowhere to put it because he can't go after the source. At least, the part of the source that isn't him.]

And I'm mad I got you involved. She would have never even known you existed if it weren't for me and we're both leaving and I have no way to make sure that you're safe. [He bends down slightly, resting his arms against her shoulders.] I was afraid of myself and I made the wrong call. I'm just...

[His voice breaks slightly.]

I'm so sorry.

[ there's still some trust to be rebuilt, and he's emotional. but the speech that comes softens her up. he really does feel terrible about this, doesn't he? like, good. he needs to. this is serious shit. but also, he very obviously needs Someone. ]

I'd rather be in danger and know what the hell is going on than the alternative.

[ she reaches up to cover one of his hands with hers. ]

And hey, newsflash? I got myself involved. I was the one poking my nose where it didn't belong. [ she sighs. ] Don't get me wrong, if you're whipping yourself right now, it's for good reason. But not for that. Not because of me.

[He'd needed someone back then, too. What he'd probably needed was Dean to knock some sense into him, but with the older Winchester off doing his own deals, he hadn't been in the best state of mind.

When it had come down to a choice of someone else, he'd picked the wrong one. Hard.

He shakes his head.]

You poked in on something I shouldn't have been doing in the first place.

[She doesn't need to give him any kind of emotional out here. He's owning this, because that makes it easier to break away from something that's also, on some levels, physically addictive.]

[ this is a compelling argument and gets her to take a minute to just ... stop. and process. she looks him over, then nods, biting down on her lip in a way that shows her hesitation but also commits to some real resolve. ]

[ which is the important part here, really, and deserves space. ]

[It could have gotten so much worse. It's hard to know how much his relationships might have been twisted in his head until he'd done something irredeemable.

[They're both leaving. He doesn't know that hers doesn't intend to be permanent.]

... Sam, you can't be serious. The Knights are going to stop this. You can't seriously be thinking about going up against something like Hell without back-up.

We're not going up against Hell, and neither are the Knights. I'm talking about Blade.

[He doesn't know if going rogue and doing it themselves is the right call yet, but it's what's happening either way.]

They're benching Rose and Dean if they stay here, and I'm not letting them go out there without me. I can't do it. I won't.

Are you crazy? He's a god! You can't just charge in half-cocked against a god! If you don't want them to be benched, stay here and fight their decision.
