chapter five ♔ it'll be a day like this one when the sky falls down

the blues - switchfoot
WHO || The Knights
WHAT || Failboat returns from the disaster in LA as the Knighthood goes on lockdown
WHERE || The castle, London
WHEN || Directly after this, Fall 2017
HOW || Actionspam
Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.
The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.
Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.
[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown. Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

I- [He looks around them, the ballroom of people falling away from their view, the walls closing in with a suffocating closeness.] It was your life, your vivacity that drew me to you, that caught my eye and then my heart. You didn't have to do anything for me to see how incredible you are.

None of them are you, Faith. None of them have your heart, your soul. None of them have my heart.

she gently pulls his hand down ] Something's wrong.

He... doesn't seem to recall that they were here for a reason, or that this is, in fact, a dream.]
What? What's wrong?

[The walls and ceiling of the ballroom have been replaced by heavy shadows that seem to be closing in on her, on them both, and he finally seems to notice that indeed something is off about this (Wis 19). He looks around, recognition and something else, perhaps fear, begin to surface in his expression.
Distant laughter comes from the shadows around them, quiet at first but growing louder by the second. Jordan looks around quickly, trying to pierce the darkness for the source of the sound, the fear growing on his face as it continues.]

I... But... [he seems to scramble for words, an explanation, anything to say, eyes falling down and away from her, shoulders hunching at the encroaching darkness.]
It wasn't... wasn't... I wasn't trying to spy or anything... It's just that, you were one of the only sane, stable parts of my life at home. I came to think of you as a friend, a companion, someone to help me deal with my Father.
[It's as if his words summon Jareth, materializing from the shadows behind Jordan in a fall of glitter and the flap of his cape, eyes mocking as they skim over her face to land on his son. "Someone to help you deal with me, Jordan? Really? As if I were some peasant to be brushed aside and forgotten? his lip curls into a sneer "How pathetic."
He whips around at the sound of Jareth's voice, eyes wide and glassy. He flinches at his father's words as if each one was a physical blow.]

He shakes his head, trying to negate their words, and it's like a shark scenting blood in the water as Jareth chimes in after Faith- "You favored fantasies over your own reality, Jordan. Pretending to have friends that weren't real, all to avoid your duties as my son, the duties you were born to. And for what, exactly?" he gestures to Faith, his smirk growing at her own cruelty. "The girl you professed to love, the one you obsessed over for years? Wants nothing to do with you. You're nothing more than a love-sick child, Jordan, sad and worthless. You disappoint me." Jareth advances so he is standing equally with Faith, arms crossed over his chest as he sneers at his son's obvious distress.
Jordan's eyes dart between the two of them, hands still pressing against the sides of his head as it shakes slowly, tears forming in their corners (will save...crit fail).]
F-Faith, please. You have to understand... [His voice is small, pleading, and Jareth laughs cruelly at him, tossing a kerchief that hits his son in the chest, fluttering to the ground. "Quit making a fool of yourself, you child."]

He falls to his knees against his will, shaking his head as panic thrums through his chest, mouth working to form the words he would rather die than to say.] Please, Master, grant me my freedom.

She shimmers again and her image is replaced by Loki, the lamp staying in one hand, a scepter appearing in the other. He tosses his head back, a sneer on his lips as he turns his attention to Jordan. "Now there's a good servant, showing me the respect that is my due. Now, slave, show me your power. Give me another one of my wishes."]
Yes, Master [he intones, raising his head to look at Loki, eyes beginning to glow that otherworldly blue as a breeze begins to stir around them.]

He finally remembers that this is, in fact, a dream, his dream and that Faith wasn't a part of it, but with him in it. And she had seen everything. She had been a part of some of his worst nightmares and fears, actively a part of them, and it was as horrifying and sickening as he could imagine.
He stands, facing her, every emotion rolling over him plainly on display for her to see. He is at a loss as to what to do.]

Get us out of this. [his voice rises in pitch, his panic beginning to bleed through to his voice.] Now, get out, now!

I thought I was freaking you out?? [the words are clipped, and he nearly spits them at her, his face scrunching as he wages a war with his inner turmoil.]

I thought you were supposed to be in control of the dreams you enter? [his embarrassment is fast turning to anger.] You sure seemed to be a willing participant in it.
