Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return. With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane. Their destination? A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains. This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia. Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair. It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

[Myri feels strangely nervous about going to Finnick's room. This place is a part of a piece of his life that she knows so little about. But Shayla needs a nap and Myri needs to talk. And being around the whole giant failboat group is super stressful these days, tbh.

She lets him lead the way, since she has no idea where she's going.]

[finnick is more than happy to lead them away from the crowd and to his room, making a brief detour to grab a cot.

he was only gone for literally a few days and it's not like krozna is usually booming, so his room is just the way he left it. which is to say, it's pretty austere. it's a room. however, there are some drawings tacked up from when he got his ass out of bed long enough to attempt therapeutic crafts. they're all beach-type scenes and not particularly good, except for one (he was just really good at capturing the essence of jellyfish ok. don't look at me look at the dice). it sucks when your favorite hobby was tying knots but you also probably shouldn't be trusted around rope so you have to find a new hobby that also isn't alcoholism.]

So ... this is it.

[Myri sets her bags down and lets go of Shayla's hand so she can explore the room a bit. She immediately goes over to the drawings and points at them.

'So pretty...' Her little toddler awestruck voice makes it sound like these are the greatest drawings in the whole world.]

It's nice. [I mean, not really, but she's being polite.] And it seems she's making herself at home.

I don't think the other ones are much different, not that I've spent much time in other people's rooms, but ...

[ukw he's just going to turn his attention to shayla before he says something dumb.] You can have one of those, if you want. Or I can make one just for you.

['For me?' She looks like she might cry from how happy that makes her. She's a very emotional child, okay.]

Sweetheart, would you like to take a nap? You can dream up something lovely for your father to draw. [The little girl is reluctant, but her own protests are cut off with a yawn so she just holds up her arms for Myri to pick her up and put her into bed.

And eventually she's out cold. But writing out the process of getting a toddler to sleep is not my idea of a good time, so it just happens. Hey now the adults can have a quiet chat.]

Is it always this cold? [It's pretty clear that she's got things on her mind but is trying to not just jump right into super serious topics. She still worries about him and his mental stability okay.]

[it's fine. finnick is here for emotional support in this trying getting a toddler to sleep time. but then she's asleep and they can have grown up conversations. about weather. it's fine. weather is a nice topic he's definitely capable of talking about as a mentally stable person.]

Sometimes it's a little warmer... but not by much. We're pretty high up in the mountains.

[She nods. Wow what riveting conversation. Myri lets silence hang between them for a moment. She's bad at this. With him, especially. He was always someone she could be completely honest with.]

We should probably... talk. About this. The three of us. [If it were just the two of them, letting it be unclear until after the world was safe would be fine. But they have a very impressionable child who is quickly getting used to the idea of Mommy and Daddy being around each other all the time. So they should probably have a real conversation to confirm that they're on the same page.]

I need to know if this is what you want.

[he nods as she starts talking. it's a surprise, at first, but he understands the need for the conversation. of course she would ask.]

It is what I want. [there's no hesitation in his words.] Everything ... it all feels more real when I'm with you. I think I can be better. I'm trying to be better. But, but I understand if... if you don't feel that way. I want you and Shayla to feel safe. That's what's important.

[She glances up towards the ceiling and closes her eyes, speaking softly as she tries to make sense of her thoughts.]

Finnick, I... I love you so much. Please don't think that anything about this takes away from that. Having you back makes me feel whole again, but... [She brings her gaze back to him.]

I don't think I can just pretend like nothing happened. I don't think it can go back to how things were.

Okay. [he nods, trying to take in her words. he didn't think it would be easy. he wasn't naive. at least she still loved him, that was something. but ... ]

Okay. [he repeats the word.] That's okay. I understand. What ... what do you want to do, then?

[What she wants is for the world to just stop for a moment and let her process all the things that have happened over the last few days. But seeing as that just isn't possible, she reaches out and takes his hand in hers.]

Would you like to get dinner with me sometime? [They'll never have a normal life. They can never change the strange, winding path their lives have taken. But maybe they can start over in some ways and rebuild their broken lives together into something stronger.]

[it's small, it's maybe not what he would have wanted, but it's still something. and he'll take it. because he still loves her, and he wants to try.]

I'd love that.

[She nods, a small smile lifting the corners of her mouth. Despite everything happening all around them, she's starting to feel something she hasn't felt in a very long time.

Hope.]

Once Shayla's up from her nap, maybe you can show us around.

Sure. There's ... it's not terribly exciting, but if we're going to be here for awhile, it's better to get to know the place. There are sheep, maybe she'd like that.

I think she'd love that. [Speaking of animals, Amaranth is probably around here somewhere... ] There are a few dogs at the castle, and she always loves watching them. I think she'd like to see other animals up close.
