Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return. With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane. Their destination? A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains. This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia. Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair. It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

[ vi's leg unfolds until she's standing again. ]

Oh, thank you so much, my love. It's like nothing was there at all.

[ "But there was!" lucia protests. there was!!! she did the thing!!! ]

Yes, Lu, you got me, that was a good strike.

Yes, you're getting very good with that sword of yours. [Myri agrees as she steps closer.] Maybe you should teach Shayla how. I'm not very good with weapons, after all.

[ "Momma says your heart is a weapon," lucia pronounces, passing shayla her wooden sword and creeping forward to try to take her father's sword from her mother's hand. ]

Lucia. [ fine! she'll go get the other one from her bag. mothers are the worst. ]

[Myri can't help but chuckle softly at her niece's antics. As the girls start to play, Myri moves over to Vi's side and nudges her with an elbow.]

At least these two are adjusting well.

[ vi snorts, leaning against myri automatically. ]

I told David all they needed was each other, I'm glad I wasn't lying. What about you, how're you holding up after... everything?

[ a lot of shit has happened in only a couple days, including finnick so... ]

[She glances over to make sure the girls are out of earshot.]

Better. Finnick and I talked. We're going to... ease back into things. [She chuckles lightly, shaking her head.]

I asked him to have dinner sometime.

A date? [ her eyebrows jump up but a smile flutters on her expression. ] I'll babysit of course.

I think it won't be until after all of this is over. But I may take you up on that. [She always appreciates the assistance.] I don't know if things will ever feel like they did before, but all we can do is try, right?

You don't have to, you know that right? I love you both but if it is too much there is no shame in letting the past be the past.

I know. But I want to try. If it doesn't work out, we'll figure it out.

[ vi reaches over to squeeze her hand. ] Either way I'm in your corner.

[Myri squeezes right back.]

I never doubted that for a moment.

Good. 'cause I know I lost Luthir and that admittedly sucked, but I don't want you to feel like you can't come to me about Finnick stuff just 'cause I'm the weirdo young widow in our gang.

[She glances down, because there definitely was a time when she felt like couldn't talk to Vi.]

I just look at you or Buffy... I know that I've been given something that both of you would move mountains for. Part of why we're here is to give Buffy that chance. She would never stop searching, never stop hoping.

And it's not the same. I was given a second chance with Luthir, Myri, and I didn't take it. Buffy needs to find Rafael because if for nothing else she needs to know she tried. But it isn't the same for all of us, you need to do what is right for you.

[That's always been hard for Myri. Thinking about herself and not taking everyone else into account is still something she struggles with. It's easier now that she has a child. She can focus on Shayla's needs above all else. But this is more complicated than that.]

You're right. I'm just not sure what's right for me. And it never seems like there's time to stop and think about any of it.

Well, looks like we have loads of time now. Shay, keep your block up. [ vi holds her sword up in the correct position when the girls pause and look back at her, letting it fall back to her side when they go back to their cheerful sparring. ]

And if we go East, we can think about it then, too. We'll make time if we have to, Myr.

I still haven't decided what to do about that. There's something inside me that is dying to go. But I need to know what the plan is here.

Tia should be here in a couple days, you won't have to wait much longer hopefully.

[She nods, still not sure if she's looking forward to Tia's arrival or not. She wants to help Raf, but whatever the plan is, it will be incredibly dangerous for so many people she cares about.]

This place isn't so bad in the meantime. It's quiet. Much calmer than we've been used to in some time.

Peaceful, yeah. [ almost like the calm before a storm or the eye of a hurricane, which reminds vi of lightning. she still has to test out the masterbolt... she can't very well ask myri to come with her, who would watch both the girls? hmm. ]

Have you had time to meet any of the residents? They seem to keep to themselves for the most part. But you seemed to know one of them already.

Charming was at the castle when I was. He helped me pick out my birthday. [ one of her first friends, weeps. ] I've met a few of the others. I might have, you know, casually, had sex with one. I thought one of them was a dog at the door, but she turned out to be a woman which was weird, I'm glad I didn't say dog at the time.
