Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return. With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane. Their destination? A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains. This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia. Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair. It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

[Sam just looks between them as well before his eyes settle on Jack, who at least looks as confused as he does, and just...shrugs his shoulders.

[ gar looks simultaneously like she wants to rush to him and like she's rooted to the spot ] What are you... what are you doing here? [ and then, her head turns to look to jack for answers ] What is he doing here?

[ time to handle this diplomatically ???? ] ... Sir Gorski is one of us. A Knight of the Hoard, since before you came to us.

He's been here since shortly before then, as well.

He's a Knight? [ and she swivels back to look at him again ] Phillip is a Knight? Why-- how...

Will someone please explain what is happening right now?

Who do you think recommended Wynn recruit you? [ he offers quietly, rising to his feet and stepping past the forgotten book to draw nearer to her. his eyes take in every detail of her, amazed ] I intended for us to work together with Wynn's resources at our disposal. To continue our work together.

That... didn't quite happen as intended.

[Oh wow that means he's been here...a long time. Without his precious lab.

Yikes.

Sam will just...pick up the discarded book as Phillip steps over it, fixing the pages and closing it before putting it back on the shelf.

When he assumed they knew each other, he figured it would have been because they were both knights but this is...

[So much for keeping his mouth shut in said nope situation. It's not like someone isn't going to ask, though.]

[ GOOD QUESTION ] Yes, how did you... how did you end up here? [ she lets that linger a second before looking back at jack for an answer b/c DRAGONS CLAWS KNOW ALL THINGS but he looks rather uncomfortable at the prospect of telling that story in this moment, in front of everyone, including phillip himself and hesitates ]

It's inane, really, the reasoning behind my being sent here. All I did was remedy a situation, in the most efficient way at my disposal. Why I should be punished for doing what no other Knight could is beyond me.

[Sam isn't sure he believes that. Wynn has always seemed like a pretty reasonable dude and there have been plenty of not-so-kosher people still living under that roof despite one thing or another.

Himself included in that number. Ahem.]

That doesn't really answer her question, man.

[Just saying.]

[ as gar turns wide eyes back towards phillip, they begin to grow watery with tears. some of it seems to be stemming from her many emotions at seeing him, but there's something else there - a trepidation in her voice, a slight fear in her eyes.

apparently there's a part of her that already expects the worst.

the words slip out as a half-whisper. ] Phillip.

he turns from her on his heel sharply, crossing over to a small desk, which he runs a hand across the surface of ] I told you. I solved a problem.

Wynnefalshond assigned me to a mission team that was supposed to be investigating ways to stymie the slave trade in Slovechnia. It was out of control. Disgusting, really. Most of it was politically supported behind the scenes by the very government itself, so all of Wynn's attempts to remedy the situation politically were destined for failure. I grew weary of scraping away at a problem without making any progress.

So I took matters into my own hands.

[ he moves to seat himself behind the desk, looking down at the surface of it, and tracing a scratch in the wood with one finger ] I hacked into a series of banks and government accounts, poked and prodded at the financial infrastructure of the country, the one that supported that hideous network.

It was child's play to bring it down. The stock market crashed, the government was bankrupt, and the funds to finance their trafficking dried up overnight.

[ he lifts his eyes to look at them, not a trace of anything remotely like regret in his gaze ] Problem solved.

[Okay, so again, Sam's not totally innocent when it comes to hacking into finances and cameras and a bit of identity fraud.

But jfc.

His eyes widen a little bit as he blinks a couple time, mouth slightly ajar before he clamps it shut.

Considering he seemingly still thinks he did something fabulous, that would explain why he's STILL HERE.]

And about a million other problems caused.

[He mutters it half under his breath, going back to sit down in his chair.

He wishes he were still meditating right now.]

[ wow this is too much for gar.

the straw that broke the camel's back.

she just... finds a chair somehow by sticking out a hand until it hits one as she lets her body move of its own accord and just ... slumps in that.

the tears that were threatening now form into fully-fledged droplets that leak down her cheeks, and she runs her fingers through her hair in an anxious gesture, shaking her head and murmuring: ] Phillip... You didn't.

You didn't. Please tell me you didn't.

[ that seems to frustrate him and he stands again abruptly, dropping both palms onto the top of the desk ] And why not? Why shouldn't we use the tools at our disposal to remedy these problems instead of standing back and spending half our time doing nothing?

Wynn couldn't possibly understand. He has no concept of our human lifespan, of the need to act instead of spending years debating.

And for taking initiative, I was ... what? Punished? Exiled? Sent to this... this alpine tundra where I can't continue my work, where I'm not allowed to so much as touch a computer for years, while my intellect goes to rust, while the work I could be putting into the world sits wasted in this hellhole?

I thought you of all people would understand.

That's quite enough, Sir Gorski. [ the words come out low and quiet, but there's an undercurrent of threat laced in the look jack shoots him that seems to unsettle phillip enough that his hand finds the armrest of his chair and he lowers himself again ]

I hate to break it to you, but that's not taking initiative. That's just breaking an entire country's economy because you could and it was easier than doing things another way.

[He's far enough removed from this ridiculously mispronounced country that he doesn't have any real emotional ties to what the guy did, but that doesn't mean he doesn't understand the scope.]

No one understands because it's super screwed up.

[Sometimes the problem isn't everyone else.]

[ he moves around the desk suddenly, moving across the space of the room with quick, sure steps to gar's side, where he drops to a knee, reaching for her wrists and scooping them up in his hands to get her attention with a sudden, impassioned plea ] Jeanne, you have to get me out of this place.

[ the abruptness of the gesture unnerves her, but as her tear-filled eyes meet his, she looks paralyzed with indecision about what to say, or even how to feel about what he's asking her, clearly torn about this. her voice is barely even a whisper as she stammers: ] Phillip, I... I don't know if ... I simply can't...

[ jack seems to have reached his limit of politeness for the moment, moving right behind phillip and gripping his shoulder, glaring down at him ] I said that's enough. [ intimidate 23 ]

[ he stiffens, dropping her wrists and shoving an index finger at the bridge of his glasses as they slip down his nose a bit, his hand visibly shaking ] I didn't ask you. This is between us. [ but he doesn't look too willing to push the issue in front of jack at least, his words more of a muttered complaint. ]

[ oh right about that.

there's a beat, and then she admits, unable to really meet his eyes: ] Jack... Jack is my fiancee, Phillip. As well as a Dragon's Claw. So I think it rather does involve him.

[ well, that just broke his brain entirely apparently. ] Your what?

[The raised voices are enough to draw Charming's attention, but let's be real-- this place is pretty quiet so just the fact that four people are having a conversation together is weird enough to draw attention. It had taken years to get used to the uneasy silence, and now it seems there are voices coming from every corner.

He's taken it upon himself to help Mik keep things under control around here. So he decides to check out the ruckus. Stepping into the room, he realizes very quickly what's happening.]

Shit. [He mutters under his breath as he heads towards Phillip.]

Everything okay in here? [Please don't make him use force Phillip. He doesn't want to.]

[Oh thank fuck.

Sam looks over at Charming, his expression reading very much 'depends on your definition of okay.'

He's basically waiting for one of these guys to clock the other one. His bets on Phillip, though he's certain Jack will lay the guy flat in half a second if it comes to that.]
