Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

We did all that we could, David. At least she had those who were willing to try.

And others who wanted to nothing more than to give her the push. [He's not over that comment from earlier.]

Nobody truly wanted that.

[uncease]

You know him better than I do. [He doesn't sound too convinced.]

I don't know. I just don't see how anyone can joke about it like he does.

[selfexile]

It's his defense mechanism. For all of this. He doesn't want to grapple with those emotions, or with the reality of his situation.

He'd rather pretend things are as they've always been.

[uncease]

He can prefer to pretend all he wants. But the fact is- a woman is dead. And we couldn't stop it.

[selfexile]

He hates that fact just as much as we do. But dwelling on it forces him to feel powerless.

[uncease]

[He lets out a sigh and looks down.]

I don't know how you do it. I don't know why you do it.

[selfexile]

Because [ he says simply ] someone must.

[uncease]

[He shakes his head, the smallest trace of a smile touching his expression.]

All these years, and I still know so little of what lead you to this place.

[selfexile]

Self-reflection, more than anything. I needed more purpose than what I had. I needed to learn who I was.

[uncease]

Did you? Find out who you are?

[selfexile]

I did. And everyone here has helped me find that person, for better or worse. Whether I helped them or failed them.

[uncease]

I think that may be true for me as well. These last few years have taught me a lot.

[selfexile]

I can tell. You are not the same man you were when you came here. You are more centered now.

[uncease]

Centered. Yeah, I guess that fits. [He feels more at peace with himself. All it took was 4 years in the middle of nowhere and some sheep to remind him who he really is.]

I can't help but feel hopeful. I know it's silly to think I could leave with them, but...

[selfexile]

Speaking of that. There's something we must discuss.

[uncease]

[Well, that has his attention.]

No time like the present, is there?

[selfexile]

Jack told me that slightly before they left... Amara's curse was broken.

[uncease]

[His eyebrows shoot right the fuck up.]

What? ...You're sure? That's what he said?

[selfexile]

It wasn't easily done. Zatanna's father was killed in the ritual that broke it.

[uncease]

[He feels somehow responsible, even though he's not the one who cursed anyone. And even though he knows if it wasn't him, it would have been someone else that was wrapped into the curse with Amara.]

That's terrible.

[selfexile]

They don't know what happened to Amara. They are certain the curse is broken, but she... left, afterwards.

[uncease]

That doesn't surprise me, actually. She wasn't exactly the friendliest of people. I think the only reason she tolerated the castle and the Knights was because the curse compelled her to stay close to me.

Jack says they're giving you the option of returning, if that's what you'd like.
