Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

[ All jokes aside, a shadow of darkness runs across her features, the truth behind Dean's words causing her to bristle.

Still, she manages to dial it back before tossing out a reply. (WS 32)]

Who cares what anyone else thinks. [ Okay so her, apparently, but more because it pissed her off than because their opinions really mattered. ]

[ it's ok he STILL NOTICES with a nat 20 wtf dean. he looks a little chagrined, but then shakes his head ] Right? Screw 'em.

Although it's nice when once and awhile we don't have to fight people tooth and nail to give us a fair hearing on something, gotta admit.

[littledhampir]

[ Meeting his gaze, the hint of a smile makes her lips twitch because as much as she says, she doesn't care and screw them all? She knows exactly what he means.]

I keep waiting on a repeat of last time to be honest. [ Without Wynn around to back them up, she really thought they were going to have a fight on their hands.] Everyone making bullshit excuses for Elena and we're the bad guys for daring to call it what it is.

Maybe it's because we picked the right people to put our faith in on this one. Jack seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. And we already knew we could count on Alainn and the Once and Future King.

[littledhampir]

Yeah... I like Jack. [ Sounding almost surprised by that. ] He's always seemed alright I just never really had to deal with him on anything like this.

He's a little British for my taste, but you can't win 'em all.

[littledhampir]

I'll take him over Solace or Hasmed any day. [Not that that's... much of a compliment really. She'd take Val'drin over those two.] But it was never really Jack I was worried about.

Yeah, well, the rest of 'em don't exactly love us for it, but we did what we had to do. I'm not gonna apologize for it.

[littledhampir]

Not saying we should. [Her lips press into a thin line, Rose just shaking her head rather than bursting out with one of a thousand thoughts dancing on the tip of her tongue.] It's about what I expected, really.

Do you think any of them have been in contact with either one of 'em?

[littledhampir]

[ She looks at Dean, expression grim. ]

I know Myri has. [Raising a hand before a sonovabitch can pass his lips.] Not in the way it sounds. I think... I think it was about closure? But if Myri, who made it clear to me she's against them will contact them? Well, you saw how Spike was.

[Spitting out his name as if it tasted wrong on her tongue.]

I don't trust that guy as far as I can throw him. Which is ironic, since he's the one on his high horse about being honest.

[littledhampir]

[She pulls in a deep breath, slowly exhaling as if building herself up to say what she has to say.]

Neither do I. [Shaking her head.] Not anymore.

[Which pains her to say because there was a time when Spike was one of the only people she did trust.]

I just... don't understand him.

Either way we gotta deal with him, so we have to figure out how to handle him bucking all the rules.

[littledhampir]

Not sure there is a way. Short of watching him like a hawk... [Another shake of her head.] I thought maybe we could be done with this shit but it just, never stops does it?

I wish I could tell you something else. I never wanted to drag anyone else into this, because there is no gettin' out, no matter how much it might feel like it for half a moment.

[littledhampir]

You didn't drag me into anything. [Cutting off that train of thought before he could tumble down that rabbit hole.] As I recall I stomped my way into it, despite all your warnings... I guess I just, never really understood what it's been like for you all these years. Why you, cut everyone out of your life.

[Because there was literally no escaping it. She got that now. From now until the day she died, she'd never be able to meet somebody without wondering if maybe, they had some agenda and it didn't matter if she had people she trusted, because they could trust the wrong people and that would be just as problematic. Just how she had trusted the wrong people and made things worse for Dean.]

I got sick of seeing every person I ever cared about as someone who I was gonna lose some day. Someone I was gonna be a burden to until the moment where they turned into one more thing for me to carry guilt around about.

[ he frowns ] Someone I couldn't even pretend to trust the way they'd probably deserve before that happened.

[littledhampir]

[It was easy for Rose to discount the first two points, because she'd be damned if she ever let anyone take her from him and he was the very opposite of a burden to her. All this hell bullshit had been destined to be a part of her life before they became intertwined but that last point takes her back to the conversation they'd had with Sam, her gut twisting at the memory of it.]

Does that include me? [ She doesn't look hurt, but rather expectant. Like she believes he's going to tell her the truth, even if it's the last thing she probably wants to hear.] Because I can't exactly blame you if you don't given... everything.

[She was the one who'd pulled him back in after he'd fought so hard to get out. The one who had allowed Des into their lives. Helen. Spike, who even knew who else.]

[ he looks over at her, as if it didn't even occur to him that she might take that to apply to her personally, but when she does, he seems to actually consider, a moment of revelation playing out on his face. ]

For whatever reason... no. [ he seems surprised himself by the realization, or maybe the ease of it ] You've never given me a reason to doubt you. Hell, you've done the opposite more times than I can count.

If they ever decide to get to me through you...

[ he smirks half-heartedly, injecting a little humor into the grim sentiment ] Guess I'm screwed.

[ It had been in her head for much longer than this last week, because while he had never given her any reason to believe that she'd let him down in some way, Rose couldn't shake the feeling that it was exactly what she'd done.

A long time ago she'd promised herself that she'd never let Hell use her to get to him, that she would be the one person in his life that would never be that weakness in his armor. Maybe she'd never betrayed him by allowing Hell to use her directly, but she had opened the door to people who could have gotten to Dean through her.

Perhaps that's why she looks surprised by his response, bracing for the worst and hearing the exact opposite.]

It wouldn't make any difference. [ A confidence in those words as she slides her stake back into its scabbard and takes a step closer to Dean. ] I'd have to allow it and there is nothing they could ever offer me that would see me do that to you.

[She'd sooner spend an eternity being tortured by Hell, than do anything she thought would betray Dean. Given their lives and history, however, she keeps that truth to herself.]

So I guess you're stuck with me. [Taking his lead and trying to lighten the conversation with a small smile.]

[ his hands find their way to her waist, holding her there firmly as he bridges some of that space between them ] Guess so.

Never thought I'd find anything like this, you know. Pretty much gave up on that whole idea. You must be pretty damn stubborn since you haven't cut and run yet.

[littledhampir]

[She'd been wrong to think of training or fighting as the place where she found her peace. That was her escape, her only way to tune out the world around her. This? This was the only way she could exist in a world that surrounded her with chaos and truly feel at peace. With him.]

Yes, I am. [Matter of fact as her grin widens, Rose's arms looping up around his shoulders.] But stubborn doesn't have anything to do with it. I'm exactly where I want to be.

[ his eyes scan her face, drinking in that smile, given that it's kind of a rare sight these days. he looks like he's run out of smart-ass replies, so instead he just leans in and kisses her with that grateful tenderness that he manages to show on occasion of his own. ] You're the one thing that's always good in my life.
