Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

[ A much as Rose told herself that nerdboy wasn't anything to fret about, she figured that if it was worrying enough for Sam to mention it to her, then it couldn't hurt for her to have a quiet word with Mikhail.

Waiting for him to separate from the others, Rose heads out to join him as he's chopping wood, standing clear of the swinging axe because she needs one of those to the head like she needs to lose another friend to Team Hell. ]

You got a minute?

[ he lowers the axe and wipes his arm across his forehead. he's gotta be sweating a lot in that coat, even out here in the cold. ] I could use a break.

[littledhampir]

[ Yeah the sweat would be enough to see Rose scrunch up her nose and extend a hand for the axe. ]

I might as well pull my weight while I'm at it. [Plus she does strike people as the type who would actually enjoy swinging heavy objects and breaking things.]

I kind of wanted to ask you about one of the people who live here...

No one causing problems, I hope. [ he'll hand over the axe though ]

Uhhh... [Making a face, Rose sets up a piece of wood to chop and then like the freak that she is, she basically pulls a Captain America and makes this shit look stupid easy; Str 24.]

More a general worry that they could. I might have caught that look you threw Gar when we arrived. And then Sam mentioned an incident...

[Mikhail, you're like Wynn for Reject Knights. Rose figures you probably know everything that goes on around here.]

Phillip. I was ... a little concerned about that, yes. I recognized her from his pictures.

[littledhampir]

[Blink. Blink. Were they the kind of pictures that Gar knew were being taken?]

Right... and I'm guessing you know that Gar is engaged to Jack. [Her weight shifts from one foot to another, Rose clearly a little uncomfortable with talking about Jack and Gar instead of to Jack and Gar.]

As far as all that... personal stuff goes? That's, their business, but I figure you might have an idea of just how spiteful this Philip guy might be?

Phillip struggles with... a lot of anger at the world. He feels as though the gifts he has been given entitle him to a treatment that he never really believes he's received.

But when he acts out, it's with what he considers to be good intentions. Not out of spite at what he can't have. He'll grumble about it, but he's not the sort to act out in frustration. He's too cautious for that.

[littledhampir]

[A tight smile pulls at the corners of her mouth, one that in no way reaches her eyes as she speaks.]

Yeah... my ex-best friend is one for acting out with what she sees as good intentions. You might remember me referring to her as the Queen of Hell.

[She is. The least reassured right now.]

I remember. I promise you that Phillip isn't the Queen of anything.

If you'd like me to put it in a way that dispenses with tact, he is a coward.

[littledhampir]

[That earns a huff of laughter, Rose nodding slowly as if to accept his words.]

Here's hoping that's enough. [A beat.] Though if you want to mention to him that I'm prone to violence and don't like people pulling sketchy shit that puts my family in danger? By all means.

[She's probably joking. Maybe. I mean it's Rose, so we just don't know.]

He'll probably pick up on that without us being explicit about it. He is very observant, even when he seems buried in his own little world.

[littledhampir]

[ She nods, seemingly satisfied at that and now continues to chop wood as she speaks to him. (Str 17)]

I just don't want our location getting back to Solace and Hasmed. As much as they should have bigger concerns than what we're up to... I feel like they'd be just petty enough to make a point of coming after us.

Even if he wanted to, we're cut off here in every way. That's rather the point.

[littledhampir]

But he's like, super smart, right? He could probably build a phone out of a toaster if he was determined enough.

[Rose. No. He's Phillip. Not MacGuyver.]

Yeah, I know. I sound paranoid. [At least she's self-aware enough to know that?]

Phillip is not allowed near any technology. Whatsoever. Even the books here are limited - we don't generally allow magic either.

[littledhampir]

[...]

And then here comes a group of magic users on a plane. We must really be screwing things up for you around here.

It's certainly throwing in a wrench. But I trust Jack, and that he wouldn't have brought anyone along that he considered a danger to us and our way of our life.

[littledhampir]

[Rose isn't entirely sure that's true given how desperate they had been when they came here but, she does trust Jack to handle anyone who crosses the line... Good enough.]

No, not intentionally anyway. [They're called Failboat, okay. surely one of them has the potential to fuck everything up. Even with Archer gone.] Honestly, I think we're all just grateful to be able to stop and take a breath. Can't remember the last time I got to do that.

[Like she won't start getting itchy feet in 24 hours time and be ready to keep going.]

I know this may seem like the worst time to stop and pause, but a moment of reflection and growth, when things are most dire, can sometimes afford the clarity to put all the pieces together.

[littledhampir]

[ Reflection and Growth. Two words Rose is sure have never been used in association with her. ]

Heh - yeah. [Chuckling and shaking her head as she swings the axe again. (str 21).] Nobody put me on this team for my brains. I'm more... Point me at something to fight.

Wynn never brought anyone on as a Knight solely to be a weapon.

[littledhampir]

[Lifting her shoulder in a shrug.] Maybe not, but... Gar's smart. Jack? Your calm and collected Leader type. We all have our thing. Mine is fighting.

[She really doesn't seem bothered by it, even if she should realize by now that she has strengths that go beyond just, how hard she can hit.]

Which is useful in anything other than our current situation.

Maybe you need to figure out what is useful for you about this current situation.

[She stops with the wood cutting and turns to look at him, eyes narrowed, the hint of a smirk touching her lips.]

It's a Russian thing, isn't it? The whole... Zen life lessons routine. [He was sounding like Dimitri, okay.

Shaking her head.] No offence to your way of life here or anything, it's just, not for me. I don't do sitting on my hands and waiting for our next move. Especially not when I'd rather be out there looking for Wynn or, doing... anything. Some people like the downtime. I'd rather keep moving.
