Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

I can't claim to understand any of that myself. But trust comes from the gut. Sometimes it tells us wrong, but more often than not, what we wanted to be true in our head or our heart was fighting our gut all along.

I guess. [ vi shrugs, stilling quickly when she remembers isabella's brushing her hair. ] I never know if I should trust my heart or my head or my gut at all in winter.

I think in some ways this is winter for all of us.

Yeah, well, isn't exactly conducive to developing teamwork.

[ isabella's hand still a moment ] Is anything, with this group?

[ vi snorts. ] Good point. Time, I guess. Buffy and I used to not like each other, now we're good.

She and I have talked as well.

Oh? How did that go?

I think... we have come to an understanding.

Well that's good. You guys both want the same thing and you're scary by yourselves, you're going to be terrifying together.

You think I'm scary and yet you trust me with scissors.

Well, I've made a point to try and not get on your bad side, so. Yeah.

My bad side is not as wide as some think.

[graveflowers]

All the more reason not to be on it, honestly.

That is fair. Are you sure I can't talk you into cutting more?

I'm positive. I like my long hair, it makes my general laziness easier. It's not fussy.

Short hair doesn't have to require fuss either. But I like long hair as well, so I will not blame you. [ she smooths it through with her hands a few times ] Then you are done.

[ good bye split ends! vi pulls her hair over her shoulders to test the new length, smiling at the clean ends before she turns that smile on isabella. ]

Sure. [ look. she's never met him, all she knows about him is that he exists because like four years ago when gar gave her the quick failboat rundown he was mentioned in passing. ] Where's he at?

Back in Italy, still keeping an eye on situations that need our intervention. [ quickly: ] Not everything we did involved assassination.

Honestly, once I heard how shitty Italy is to Shadowkind I figured you guys were like that guy I saw on reddit who like ferried hundreds of kids to safety during World War 2. [ she didn't know what their niche was so she made up a very elaborate fantasy world for them ok. ]
