Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

Actually I asked and he told me, so. [ still leading buffy down the hall, clearly heading outside if that wasn't obvious by the jacket demand. ]

I do have some standards. [ no she doesn't she literally saw luthir and was like THAT ONE IS MINE so at least she was only banging this one. ]

I promise you don't need to worry about me, like, like dramatically eloping or some dumb shit. I had a really spectacular one night stand and now I want to show you something just as cool. [ a beat. ] That has zero things to do with sex or dicks, that was the worst lead in ever, gosh. Zero things! It's very rated G, I promise. Nothing sexual at all. It's just all very King Arthury.

Weirdly on theme for the whole knights of the round table thing? I know you trust me so please continue to do so until we get there. [ HERE IS THE OUTSIDE, THEY ARE WALKING OUTSIDE. ]

[slay]

This better be worth the cold, Vi.

[ buffy huddles and pulls the blanket tighter around her as they step past the threshold. ]

Why couldn't the Castle of Misfit Toys be on an island or something? A nice, tropical island.

[uncease]

[Surprise! Charming is here, chasing after Lucia while she yells BAA BAAAAA over and over. He's always living that herding life.]

Hold on, little sheep! I think I see your mom.

[He smiles but he's also like halp.]

Hey Charming! [ vi waves as she leads buffy over. ] I don't know if you guys were formally introduced, but this is Buffy. Buffy, this is David.

[slay]

Hi, David ... [ what is this ??? she looks over at vi. ] And David is ... not the King-Arthury ... whatever it is you're showing me.

[uncease]

[He laughs.]

No. I guess I'm more like the lady in the lake in this case?

[graveflowers]

Exactly! David is our lady in the lake. Lead on, lady. Come on, lamby! [ lucia baaaaaas more because this is who she is now. ]

[slay]

[ she absently tousles lucia's hair in response to the baa. ]

You want to go upside down? [ then she looks up at david and vi, asking, ] She's the one with the sword, right?

[uncease]

Yeah, usually. We're sort of mixing up the timeline with this reference. Basically, I found a weapon stuck in a stone awhile ago. Vi said you might be able to yank it out.

[graveflowers]

'cause you're the strongest person I know and Mark already has Excalibur so I don't think he gets to pull two swords free, that just isn't fair.

[ lucia holds her arms up to buffy and bleats again. ]

[slay]

I mean, I'll try. But just so we're clear, you guys know that Excalibur was a worthiness thing, right? Not a big muscley thing? [ she looks between them. then she shrugs and demonstrates that big muscley-ness by hoisting lucia (as if that takes big muscley-ness) into the air and turning her upside down. she keeps a firm grip on the kid's ribs so she doesn't go anywhere, but buffy will take this opportunity to

spin in a circle.

kids love that shit ok. ]

[uncease]

[Charming smiles at Buffy's antics with Lucia and points out towards the caves.]

If it's a worthiness thing, I definitely didn't cut it. If this doesn't work, maybe we can ask someone with magic to break up the stone? Or maybe it's not worth the trouble. I just figured whatever you guys are going up against? More weapon options can't be a bad thing.

[graveflowers]

[ lucia finally stops baa'ing to laugh in delight while vi touches buffy's shoulder lightly to nudge them forward to the caves. ]

And if you don't want it, Buff, I'm sure we can wrap it up as a Christmas gift for someone else.

[slay]

[ buffy hoists lucia over her shoulder so she can dangle upside down over buffy's back while they walk into the caves. it's the good aunt thing to do. ]

Kat might be able to do it. Or Sam. He's got all that ... psychic stuff going on. Or Alainn ... Ooh! She could keep it in her cool vault!

[uncease]

[And we're walking. We're walking...]

If you guys can get it out, you can do whatever you want with it.

[He has been back to this spot a couple of times over the years. It's something of a mystery for him. And maybe he's hoped that he could train enough to be able to pull the weapon free. But no.

He leads them through the cave, glancing back to make sure Lucia isn't spooked by all of this.

And to save us from spelunking small talk, oh look, here we are. And here it is.]

[slay]

[ the red metal of the scythe glints as it catches the sparse light in the cavern. it seems to draw buffy to it. she steps closer. ]

That's no sword …

[ she picks lucia up off her shoulders and returns her to the ground, carefully, but her eyes stay on it the whole time. it feels familiar. but she knows she's never seen it before in her life. ]

[graveflowers]

Yeah, it's more like an ax thingy. What are you waiting for, Summers? Go King Arthur that shit.

[uncease]

[Charming scoops up Lucia to "give her a better view" but really to keep her from being underfoot while sharp things might be swinging around.]

[slay]

[ she looks over at vi, nods, then steps closer and reaches for the handle. she doesn't yank hard. she just ... lifts.

the scythe comes free. something in it almost seems to hum and speak to her, but without language, without sound. just a feeling. for a moment, turning it over in her grip, she seems to sort of ... zone vi and charming out. ]
