Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

"There's no excuse," he says, followed by justifications, 'cause those aren't excuses. Which, like, his excuse is that he's old as fuck and no human was ever supposed to be that old blah blah blah and no one can understand how he thinks because he's the only one. [ vi's lips purse. ]

[ buffy glances away and downward, frowning. she doesn't want to get into that. ]

He reached out to me too. He's trying to find whatever in he can. That's all. He thinks an apology will appeal to your good heart. And ... And he thought promising to help me get Rafael back would appeal to mine.

[ kat looks at buffy carefully ]

[ tbh she hadn't thought of that and she should have. she's not used to thinking of des as One of Them and it's apparent in the brief flicker of surprise and thoughtfulness in her expression.

she shrugs her shoulders. she doesn't have an answer, with all that said. ]

I don't think the question is whether it will or not.

[Buffy wants to get Raf back, information on that coming up is going to peak her interest whether she wants it to or not. Unless she's abandoning Raf to his fate and not planning on rescuing him.]

It's whether or not either of you is going to give him the leverage. Just because he's dangling a great carrot doesn't mean we have to be the dumb horse that keeps walking forward trying to eat it.

Exactly. And we're not staying here forever - if he shows up and this comes up, what are you going to say next time? If it was the only way?

[ if it's the only way, vi would give into that and she shifts uncomfortably because she is self-aware enough to recognize that. ]

[ it's impossible not to take this as a dogpile, so buffy responds to it as such, a hint of animosity in her voice. ]

You mean if the rest of you forgot that the only reason he's there in the first place is because he took Gar's place?

Whoa, whoa.

[And now we're getting into dangerous territory, so please let's not turn this into a fight. They've still got a long way to go and don't need to start picking fights with each other in close quarters already (diplomacy 20 total).]

No one is forgetting that. And I think we all know that it isn't that cut and dry.

[Gar may have been the leverage but they still wanted Rafael all the same. She then glances over to Kat.]

And we aren't that desperate yet. If we start spiraling into the what ifs now, we'll fall apart before we even get started.

[ buffy holds her hands up like it's cool. we're all friends here. ]

I just want to make sure I know what to be prepared for, if Tia doesn't pull through with Crombe.

[slay]

[ buffy looks at kat, frowns, then looks back at vi. yikes. ]

What else did he say to you?

He thinks hating someone for thousands of years is a good basis to start a healthy relationship on because at least he felt something? [ she shrugs. ] I asked him why he chose Hell and that was his answer. Also, side note, he's in fraud hell so let's all steer clear of that one.

[ felicity... just don't die. ]

[Her face indicates as much. She either needs to become immortal or renounce her life of conartistry. Neither of these things sound particularly appealing. Maybe she'll get lucky and get sent to thief hell.]

... That kind of takes the concept of hate sex to a whole other level.

[Hating someone ... is not a great basis to build a relationship on in Felicity's opinion, but ... okay.]

I don't know, man. Even when he's explaining things it's like he doesn't want to explain it, we're just supposed to know, so something probably got lost in translation, but that's not on me to figure out. I wasn't the one who brought a fucking devil to my wedding!

[ in the big picture, it's not important in any way, shape, or form. in fact, it's ridiculously petty considering vi all but demanded he bring his boyfriend. but it was her wedding and he let her be ignorant to a devil at the happiest moment of her life. fuck that. ]
