The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many.  Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility near Las Vegas.  It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return.  Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

He's not going on the plane. I'm taking him to live with a friend in town.

[Just in case he doesn't come home, Oscar will theoretically have a forever home, and David won't have to worry about him being underfoot.]

Oh. Give him back then I haven't said goodbye properly.

[ she holds her hands out, demanding. ]

[David smirks a bit before holding the cat out to her so that she can say goodbye, moving on to pack a different area of his belongings while he did.]

[ gathering oscar up in her arms, lila kisses his ugly face, scratching behind his ears until he starts purring. ]

Be a good cat.

[ satisfied, she gently wrangles the cat into his carrier with ease. cat whisperer. ]

What do you think about Solace and Hasmed?

[Well, that's a loaded question. He's quiet as he weighs out to answer it.]

I don't know. I definitely got into it with him not long after everything went down and I think they're not really open to hearing other people's concerns now that they're in charge. I also think that while getting closer to the problem is a good idea, I'm not sure we know enough to bring the entire castle there.

[Putting too many of their eggs in one basket is a bad plan, and even if they just broke them up into teams and scattered them a bit, things might be better, but still, it's a complicated situation.

It's not like anyone has ever seen the end of the world before. Except for maybe David.]

Something has to be done though. And I'm not really in a position to make a call on what that thing is.

So you brought me back for that. [ dryly: ] Thanks, David, truly.

[ but whatever. she knew what she was getting into when she came back, she still chose to do so. she can't rag david too hard. ]

I don't know enough about either of them to trust them and Wynn's trust in them only translates so far: he's let some people in here that do not belong near access to so many weapons.

[ he's knighted some shady ass bitches. ]

[David doesn't deny that. Deadpool exists.]

Yeah, but given it's the end of the world, we need all the weapons we can get.

[He means that both literally and figuratively.]

Not sure everyone is going to exactly help the war effort.

[He shrugs.]

Maybe. Maybe not. But some people need to feel useful.

I suppose canon fodder is necessary.

[ look david was probably thinking it. ]

[He wouldn't have said it, but ... yeah. He's also thinking let's hope it's Hellsing or SHIELD, not us, but that's also something he keeps to himself.]

I think it's more inevitable than necessary.

[War is war after all.]

You really picked a shit time to guilt me into coming back, David. Can't stress that enough.

[There's a dry smile at that.]

If it wasn't such a shit time, I probably wouldn't have guilted you.

[He would have just waited for her to come back on her own - or just let her go, if that was what she wanted.]

Yeah, well, you owe me. For the rest of my life.

[ she's almost died on a lot of missions tho, she might only have two out of her nine lives left. ]

Duly noted. Call that in whenever you need it.

[And he means it. He knows what he's asking of her and if that's what it takes then that's what it takes.]</small.

Do you think we should... try to find Amara?

[ tiny wince because look she knows she shouldn't have let her walk away but that mission was hell. ]

[David isn't sure there's anything Lila could have done to stop her, tbh. None of them could have. And he glances over to her before nodding.]

I do. I brought it up, but Solace doesn't think it's worth our resources.

[bittersweeter]

That's stupid. The Homo Magi are insanely powerful.

[generaldavideus]

And she's also been through a huge trauma. Solace doesn't trust her to want to help.

[Which David disagrees with that sentiment, doesn't think it would hurt to ask her, if nothing else. They'd just have to find her, and it's obvious that Solace doesn't want to spare the resources it would take.]

But if you think you might know how to find her, I'm open to suggestions.

I am the last person she's gonna talk to. I manipulated her as much as they did.

That wasn't what I asked.

[He asked if she knew how to find her. David wouldn't mind going to do the talking, and honestly he mostly just wants to be sure that she's okay.]

No, I don't know how to find her. I doubt she can even be scryed for and if she can, I don't know how.

[generaldavideus]

[He nods in acknowledgement, because it would probably be big magic.]

Well ... if you think of something. I can't do much magic-wise, but I can try and go talk to her. I'd appreciate the help - or even just finding out if she's okay.

[bittersweeter]

I'll look into it. [ her nose crinkles up and she adds begrudgingly: ] And I'll see you around.

[ because he made her come back. like a ghost, she slips out of the room. c'est fini. ]
