The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many.  Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility near Las Vegas.  It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return.  Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

[ did she? it was implied by her constant level of stress and trauma thanks to amara's continued presence in her life. the woman is gone now but lila did need that break. she was tired of killing herself for all this. ]

That could have meant a lot of things. [ a break to regroup, or a break to re-evaluate... two very different ends of the spectrum ]

A break normally implies a rest before coming back to work.

No. [ and she hates that. ] I'm not normal. But I am really good at almost dying for this place so might as well go for the gold against a god. I've got two or three lives left. Can't let you and Zero have all the fun without me.

I don't know whether to be glad, or to tell you to get the hell as far away as possible. [ his frustration is evident, but he's clearly glad to see her and that prevails ] Kinda glad I'm not your mentor anymore. I'm not sure how to pretend to know what to say if I was in charge of encouraging anybody right now.

Don't. No one should encourage this. Fuck, I don't even think you should be here.

[ because eric is a good little soldier, she knows he will die for the knights and lila is selfish. ]

Where else would I be?

Literally anywhere else? Somewhere safe? Holed up with your family or your girlfriend or your boyfriend or hanging on to the last few seconds of life before the world blows up? Any or all options, Eric.

[ he takes that in for a minute before he says: ] ... I am with my family.

[ lila makes a face, stalking away a few paces because she felt a feeling and she doesn't want to admit it or let eric see the way her expression crumpled. it's always hard with eric because they're is no middle ground between no feelings and every feeling. ]

It's been four and a half years and we're still really bad at this.

[ this being... talking. for someone who can talk circles around nearly anyone, who lies so well she can convince herself, eric fucks her up every single time. ]
