[ Kenzi had threatened Paige with a ladies night and of course, if anyone needed a night out it was Bo. The fact that there's also a talking Tree, a drinking Raccoon and... Drax? It's Kenzi. Why is anyone shocked by the people that she spends time with? She has ideas and they spin out of control and you just sort of hang on for the ride. It's her way. She may have casually mentioned they were coming here to a few other people, so if you happen to show up as well? The more the merrier.

The location itself isn't exactly filled with the garish glitz and glamor that a person generally associates with Vegas. Pandora has a British Pub meets modern day speakeasy feel to it. It's known for its signature cocktails with names like Panty Dropper and the Hot Little Mess and you can always count on live entertainment in the form of dancers, magicians, a band and of course, a DJ. It also happens to be one of the few clubs that has an open door policy where Shadowkind are concerned. Whether they'll be rethinking said policy after tonight? We just don't know. ]

[Rocket just looks at him like he's stupid, which is unfair, because, again, THIS IS NOT HIS QUILL. To be fair, though, that tends to be his default "looking at Quill" face.]

He's been my friend for years. I don't exactly remember the specifics 'cause Veil shit, but we knew each other back where we came from.

Is he one of the... Guardians too? [ he remembered!! which is telling. it came up like once years ago. ]

Yeah. Him and.... [He looks over at Drax who is like twenty feet away and still trying to figure out where the copulation island.] Drax over there. The only one we're missin' is Gamora. [And, you know, YOU.] You can probably guess that she's the one with all the impulse control.

So it was you guys... and me. [ the last part is said carefully, skeptically, as if he's checking to verify what he's been spending a few years trying to wrap his head around ] I've heard a lot of people talk about this whole parallel universe thing. That there are different timelines, where people led different lives.

Where you came from... you said I was one of you.

Uh-huh. [Rocket drawls it out like he's not really sure where this is going or if he's emotionally capable of handling where it could be going.] And seein' as you basically went "hey I don't know you losers" when you first turned up, I decided the best option was to just back the hell down. The circumstances of us becomin' friends, or becomin'... You know. A group. [A family....] It's weird and impossible to recreate. It just wasn't gonna happen unless you decided we were worth knowin' 'cause let's be real, dude- if I were you? I would've stayed the hell away from anybody I don't know who knows too much about me.

[ his sense motive was a whole 12 so he's trying hard here, but having a difficult time reading your raccoon facial expressions. ]

Hey, look, I didn't even know that was a thing when I first got here. I mean, Carol said something like it, but it didn't exactly make a lot of sense. I mean, it still doesn't, honestly, but I get the concept.

I just... don't get it. I mean, not about you guys, but... about what we were. And what does that even mean, "Guardians of the Galaxy"? How'd I wind up with you and not with the Ravagers? [ now that the flood gates of emotion are open, have a sudden nat 20 will save to spill his heart out, congrats on all the feelings that are coming your way ] That life doesn't really leave a lot of room for... friends. [ that's the closest he can come out loud to at least expressing his confusion about him maintaining friendships that he doesn't fuck up ]

[Well, Rocket's 14 will save keeps him from swinging between his two extremes which are "look at Quill like he's a giant manbaby making a scene" and "start shouting his own feelings." He can be reasonable.]

'Cause you left the Ravagers. You decided to tell Yondu to stick it up his ass, ran off with his latest payday, and through some crazy random happenstance, we all ended up in the Kyln. Worst prison in the galaxy.

[He runs a hand over his muzzle.] Also Guardians of the Galaxy don't mean anything. It just stuck. It's a name we got 'cause after we escaped the Kyln, we ended up savin' Xandar and look... I don't know if half those planets or places even exist here. Clearly the Ravagers do. That's something. It's a big, complicated story.

Xandar exists. [ he starts with that, because he's trying to process the rest ] And so does the Kyln.

You're saying we saved an entire planet?

[wow it's like it's THE EXACT SAME THING but they never met each other. that's just tragic.]

From a genocidal maniac, yeah. We stumbled into heroics and found out we kinda kick ass at it.

And somehow wound up doing the same thing here.

Yeah, go figure. And the crazy part is we all stumbled out of the Veil at different times, and just ended up with the Knights. I don't buy into the whole fate thing, but considering all the shit I went through to get here, that's kind of an impressive coincidence.

Almost seems like too much of one. [ MAKES HIM A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE ] But it seems like maybe we're both here for a reason, at least. [ so he supposes

Gamora. [And Rocket rolls a fantastic wisdom check to NOT say he had moon eyes for Gamora. Probably because he still assumes Kenzi is his fuckbuddy and doesn't want her to be pissed at him and stop buying him drinks. He doesn't understand humanoid biological impulse crap okay.]

She could be out there too, and we just haven't run into her yet. Or maybe the Veil wants us to off-set what we don't have with other people, 'cause otherwise we'd just go off on our own or something. Who knows.

Did she also have almost unlimited money? Because that's a nice perk too.

No, that is a perk specific to the Knighthood. I haven't had to steal anything in years. I got mixed emotions about that, too.

That's offensive and if I hadn't taken myself off active duty, I'd be complaining to somebody about it.

"Off active duty"? What does that mean, exactly?

It means that until things improve on the Shadowkind front, I don't leave the headquarters. [A beat.] 'Cept now- again, 'cause Kenzi said she'd buy the drinks, but I've got my eye on all these jerks in here, and it's kinda killin' my buzz, anyway.

Wait. If you thought that people here were gonna kill you if you went outside the base, then why'd you come here in the first place? [ that doesn't make sense ]
