Rescuing Rafael could have gone much worse... And then did, when Rafael, desperate to feel alive and free again, got himself into a car accident. He came out of it alright, but injured, and they headed back on a plane after a whirlwind wedding had happened the same night between Dean and Rose, which Elena and the fiendish version of Sam had dropped in on - as well as Bobby Singer. After the madness of that night, Jack sent word back to them that if they had any family that they wished to keep safe, they could bring them back to Krozna. Rafael and Isabella insisted on picking up Giorgio, Nellethiel, and their children, Giulia and Pietro. Alainn picked up quite a bit of family as well - her adoptive parents and siblings from Ireland.   They return to Krozna together, where everyone can get acquainted and recover from the ordeal of their close calls in New Orleans before pressing forward.   There would be months for them to train, and the pace of life in Krozna to settle in, far from the chaos of the rest of the world.  

The date is now quickly approaching for the upcoming meeting at the "Darkhouse" where they hope to acquire more leads about the dagger that was used by Blade in the ritual to kill his father, Malaak'a.  

This log covers all social things for Failboat between the first social log and the Darkhouse (months worth of time skip).

I'll grab my coat.

[He'll have to make sure they don't go out too far, he doesn't want other particular people listening in, and Dean's protection only goes so far, but surely a bit of a walk won't matter?

He's bundled up when he gets back in a couple minutes, complete with jacket, scarf and gloves.]

[telekinection]

[ tia herself is equally bundled, and has one of those russian hats that are all fur too. it's a good look. she waits until they get a little ways out before she glances at him. ] We don't have to go too far. Just so that no one will overhear that we don't want to.

[familybusiness]

[I rolled a percentile die. He got an 84. He thinks it's adorable.

That said, it doesn't take him long at all to realize the implications of what she just said out loud, his brows furrowing.]

Does that mean you can read my mind?

[telekinect]

All things considered, that's probably a good thing.

[familybusiness]

[He's been convinced that Glasya would have kept that bit in place, so that people couldn't catch his thoughts about her, to learn things about her existing in the first place.

There's a lot of hatred swirling around every thought of her now.]

I'm not complaining. Just surprised. [A beat.] I had that block removed. I didn't know exactly how removed yet, though. I'm hoping you'll be able to tell me.

[telekinect]

She agreed to do it?

[familybusiness]

She didn't just agree to it.

[He looks at her seriously.]

She was training me.

[There's a bitterness to this entire conversation; he'd trusted her in a way that he knows now that he shouldn't have, and he's not sure what to do about that now.

He's choosing to trust Tia instead, which is frankly difficult for him, but he's out of options and she's proven trustworthy in the past

She's know about him this long, after all.]

[telekinection]

I'm going to need you to show me, Sam. [ there's a delicacy to her tone about the subject at least ] I don't want to invade your privacy if there's things you want to keep secret, but whatever you're willing...

I should know what she was training you to do.

[familybusiness]

Are we talking I show you what she taught me to do or you look at what happened in my head?

[Well that's awful. He visibly winces, but nods his head all the same, in quiet acceptance.]

She just...got under my skin, you know? Knew just what to say to make me...

[He shakes his head. There's no point in giving her excuses. He's been around a telepath long enough to know she can likely read his regret as if it's on a flashing sign.]

[telekinect]

Both. Either. [ her voice drops a bit, her eyes studying him carefully ] Only what you're comfortable with.

[familybusiness]

[He nods a bit, dragging a hand through his hair.]

I think if I've learned anything from this it's that keeping it to myself isn't gonna get me anywhere.

[Such self-reflection.]

You can look. I'll just...try to edit around the unnecessary parts.

[Can he do that? Is she the one that does that? Either way, this wasn't going to be the most comfortable either way, but she's probably dealt with that before, at least.]

[telekinection]

Trust me, I'm good at filtering. May I? [ she raises both hands, indicating that she wants to lay them at his temples ]

[familybusiness]

[Oh good. That's...good. Yikes.

He just nods, turning fully towards her and letting out a deep breath.]

Ready when you are.

[telekinect]

[ she actually removes her gloves first one by one and tucks them in the crook of her arm so that she can place her actual hands on either side of his head. she closes her eyes and inhales a bit, before he hears a voice in his mind: ]

Alright, Sam. Start by focusing on one thing.

[familybusiness]

[He closes his eyes too, focusing inward, concentrating on going back to his encounter with Glasya, when she unlocked his mind (concentration 33). He plays it like a movie in his head, remembering the way the darkness swallowed him, the sound of her voice murmuring in his ear.

It shouldn't be too hard to follow his train of thought from there.]

[telekinect]

[ again, he'd notice there's a distinct difference between the sensation of tia entering his mind, feeling like something that doesn't belong there, and when glasya did with her deft mental touch, her ability to get right to the core of him. this time, however, his mind doesn't reject tia, and after a moment, he can sense her presence there in a more settled way, as if she's next to him while he conjures these memories up. her voice echoes in his mind: ] It's working. Whatever kept me out before... it's gone now.

[ her words are replaced by glasya's, echoing through his mind as he draws towards tia in the interior direction of that dark sea:

"Blood is life, Sam. Blood is power. You were exposed to some of that power as a child, and while that blood is long gone, it left a mark on you.

No matter what else he may be, my father remains an angel, and when he gave himself a physical form, the power of Heaven itself coalesced in his veins.

They can deride it all they want, but that's divinity that woke this in you. All that's left is an echo, but even an echo of the divine can be more than a mortal body can handle. It can have a life of its own, if you don't know what to do with it."

"You have to stop being afraid of it. You have to make it yours, Sam."

and then, with a completely unshakable certainty: "You won't hurt me."

trying to remember what it felt like to dip into that essence of everything without actually doing it... so make a will save, sam ]

[familybusiness]

[Perhaps he's concentrating a bit too hard and getting caught up in the middle of it all (will save 16).

He inhales sharply, wincing briefly at the memory, as he feels that power surge inside of him of its own accord as if for a moment it does have a will of its own.

Around the two of them, every object not rooted down into the soil lifts from the ground; leaves and rocks and sticks, maybe a small creature or two who knows, hovering still in the air a few feet above where they started.

Sam's fingers curl into fists as he tries to keep ahold of himself.]

[telekinect]

[ tia's eyes are still closed but there's a tension to her hands as she says very carefully: ] Sam. Don't give into it. Don't let it take control.

[familybusiness]

I'm trying.

[His voice is tight, and he's not sure if he just said it in his head or out loud too.

Tia's voice seems to do the trick, as I rolled a new will save and got a 28. It's just a memory, something he can't change, and so trying to reject it, giving into his fear, is only going to make things more difficult for him.

He already opened himself up to it, let it in. And he needs to control it, for his own sake, which means not flinching away.]

[telekinect]

That's right, Sam. You're in control here. Not anyone else. That power is you.

[ her voice turns soothing, and also more than a little relieved ] Show me what else you've done.

[familybusiness]

[Once he has that firm hold again, her relief mingling with his, things start to move a little faster.

His brain skips around, memories flashing like a highlight reel. Each time he meets with Glasya, she teaches him something new as she hovers nearby, murmuring into his ear. He learns to further control is telekinesis, to heal himself, to crush minds, to fire beams of elemental energy from his hands.

Finally, there's the battle to save Rafael, the searing pain in his head as blood drips from his nose as he pushes himself too hard. It's happened a time or two before, but not quite like that, perhaps because he did it alone. Dean and Rose appear, their worried expressions conjured up briefly before he shakes it away.]

[telekinect]

[ he would feel her withdraw, slowly, as if to not leave him reeling, a small gesture of comfort, and then feel her hands physically pull away ]

Well.

You've certainly stayed busy. [ there's a gentle humor to the words, clearly not intended to assign any blame or judgment, just try to break the tension while she processes all of that ]

[familybusiness]

It was a distraction.

[There might not be any judgment on her part, but he judges himself plenty. There's more than enough guilt rolling around in his brain just from looking back on all of it.

Also, he's not sure if it was the psionics or just her that he felt so drawn to.

Given what he's given up, he's going with the former..]

[telekinect]

[ quietly, but firmly ] I think it was more than that. This is a part of you, this power.

Why wouldn't you want to feel in control of it, instead of afraid of it?

[familybusiness]

[His eyes lift, the expression behind them one of pure relief.

Slowly he nods.]

Yeah. [A beat as he swallows.] But should I be? Afraid of it?
